03 F350 All 8 Injector Circuits Setting Low Codes
Aaron replied to ETS's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
Yeah, they had to get them in special for me when we had the Windbag axle recalls. The parts guy wrote "Sasquatch Edition" on the box. I think I have a pic of it somewhere lol. -
Pics do it no justice.

^^ LOL What makes you say that KODAMANN er..Jim? I just hope they don't start eyeballing the hot rods/street machines. My car is exempt from tailpipe testing to renew the license plate validation sticker, however it is still subject to on-road enforcement, and can be subject to being forced to test - based on a driveclean cop's say-so. That being said, I am quite confident my car would pass the emissions testing standards for a 1980 vehicle. Test performed on my car would be a two speed idle, which measures HC and CO at idle and at 2500RPM.

I like how years and years of development are put into a calibration by the manufacturer, but the aftermarket guys can churn calibrations out quicker than I can make chicken wings disappear.

That's the way I've also done it, it's still unpleasant to do especially the crank sensor because I have hands similar in size to that of a blade on a spade shovel. -
I'm worried about what light this might bring to the automotive aftermarket. My hot rod sees use on public roads in the course of a year that is probably only measurable in HOURS, and it has quite a few components on it that fall into the same category as the DPF delete stuff. The automotive aftermarket is rife with warnings on boxes and packaging that clearly states "NOT FOR USE ON POLLUTION CONTROLLED MOTOR VEHICLES". The way the diesel stuff looks is they're outlawing the manufacture/sale of it regardless of the usage. I'd hate to not be able to buy a carb kit for my Holley, or an upgraded intake manifold to allow my engine to breathe better, because it doesn't have provisions for an EGR valve. Keep in mind this is a competition engine, used for street driving for the Woodward Dream Cruise in Michigan every year. I street drive the car at Woodward so because it is a conglomeration of horsepower from across both countries and the sounds, smells, and feeling of camaraderie is astounding. Also, I keep the car plated and insured because I can run it in our local "street ET" class at the dragstrip, and not a lot of folks can say they have a "street car" that runs high 10's low 11's. I agree. I am using the engine in an on-road situation with products that clearly state for off road use only. I am guilty of that. However, there are guys that DO use these products solely for off road use (keep in mind I'm still talking about gas burners - nobody buys a 8000lb 60k 1 ton pickup truck to race.) - what happens when THOSE products are outlawed and crushed? It's going to hurt the racing associations big time. This may not mean a lot to some of you, but to some folks, myself included, I don't have a whole lot of hobbies or interests aside from drag racing, hot rods, etc. So to some folks this would be the equivalent to saying "hockey pucks aren't environmentally friendly, they're being outlawed". I don't agree with the guys that drive around and blow black soot all over everything and kill the environment, but I truly hope that it doesn't affect the automotive performance parts industry as I've stated in my post.

WOW....Even the fucking NWT plate has screw holes in the "accepted" North American locations - and they aren't even rectangular!

F-series engine harness usually booked out 6-8 hrs warranty, and that was working at a fairly leisurely pace. The worst parts of the job are properly routing the crank sensor and camshaft position sensor wiring. -
I saw a guy condemn a head gasket using this at work, but he didn't wait until the engine was hot first. It had a head gasket put in it at the International store, and is now pushing coolant out of the overflow again, about two weeks later. It builds 10-15psi cooling system pressure idling in about two minutes, I can't imagine what it does under load.

Interesting things coming down the pipe

I'm surprised the starter isn't buried inside the engine like a northstar or something since it's going to likely be a high failure item. I hope this isn't something that in like 6 months Ford is flashing out of the PCM's because it's wrecking stuff. -
6.7 out the front? anyone tried it yet?
Aaron replied to cheezit's topic in 6.7L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
I had the small block out of my hot rod, oil pan gasket replaced and back in in a little over an hour, and that was working at a leisurely pace. Keeping in mind that there's lots of space in the engine compartment. air cleaner and carb off, rad hoses and fuel lines off, lifting plate installed, header bolts out. Underneath, knock the converter bolts out, bellhousing bolts and starter off. Unhook the alternator from underneath and lift the whole works out with chain falls, lifting straight up and forward about 3" to clearance the flywheel from the bellhousing. Swapping the motor in that car is way too easy lol. -
It apparently uses the EGT to monitor this, I was told a long time ago. Does your truck still have all the smog gear on it, and the latest and greatest calibration in it?

Have good used FICM with new ITEC halfshell on it if you need one. (4-pin) -

Where's there some more info about that? First I'm hearing of it not being a Ford wrench anymore. -
03 7.3L F-450 BRAKE PEDAL GOES TO FLOOR
Aaron replied to CISCO's topic in Body, Chassis and Electrical
You can push the brake pedal in my 08 to the floor when stopped, you can kinda push it past the hydroboost/master. The truck will come to a complete stop with less than 1" of pedal travel though, so I don't lose a whole lot of sleep over it. -
Apply regulated air to the cooling system and spray that crack with a little soapy water...betcha you'll get to see some pretty bubbles
-
He's concerned about having 'er a tooth out once it's in the truck, and I can understand that fear lol.
-
He pulled the motor right apart, I think he's going to bang some rings and bearings in it while it's apart, it's got some miles on it. So there's a dot or dash or something? How do you see the crank mark with the spacer/adapter on the end of the crank or is it marked there?

He is in Michigan, I am in London, Ontario, Canada.

A friend of mine is replacing the camshaft in a 6.0 (ate a lifter). Does anyone know if/how the camshaft/crankshaft alignment can be achieved without the special service tool? Never had to do it without the tool and don't have the pieces in front of me so I can't even begin to guess lol. I know IDEALLY it's the best way to do it, but I'm not with the Ford store anymore and he can't find a store close to him that will loan him one. Thanks in advance fellows.

Service brakes all working OK? Sliders and junk all free, allowing movement where need be? -
http://www.humanhoist.com/ A-ha. Not in production yet. I'd wonder the durability for a... "huskier gentleman" such as myself?
-
That's a pretty slick outfit. Would be really good for doing brakes on a big truck, sitting down to assemble the brakes and put the drum on, and then slide underneath to grease the camshafts and slacks and set the brakes up. I didn't watch the whole video because I couldn't handle the music, but what kinda money, or is it just a one-off that someone built?

So, this option shuts down the engine when you stop at a traffic light? -
It's a nice feature to have, especially since it does a stationary regeneration, and you don't have to pay a mechanic to drive the thing around while it does it's burnoff. We have to regen trucks from time to time at our shop and the switch on the dash is a godsend. unfortunately, right beside it is an "INHIBIT REGEN" switch, which seems to be the only one the drivers know how to use.
