I was buying them from Larry at Superior Turbo (he is a member here) for REAL reasonable money. They were Alliant power sticks, and if I recall, the warranty was pretty good as well.

I fucked up once. Admitted to it. Fixed it on my time, and my dime. As soon as the vehicle was released, I got laid off for "lack of work".

It's been awhile for me, but didn't the (Ford) drop-in engines come with a little card or something that said they'd been dyno-run? (The diesels, anyhow - I never put a complete reman gasser in, I usually got to piece the fuckers together, one new head, one used head, half a set of valvesprings, a couple used lifters, anything that Ford could re-use on a "replacement" engine...) I put an engine in a CanPar delivery van, that they supplied, that came from Jasper, and it came with a dyno sheet and a little package of info about the engine, what the oil pressure was, what water temp was, and a bunch of other crap.

There is a cement company near here that still uses this nightmare setup. Most of the trucks are tandem-tandem and are just awful to drive for a number of different reasons. They range in age from 73 to 77 or 78, some of the newer single steer tandem trucks are almost new at a lively 1995 or so vintage. Nice thing about Mack trucks is they looked the same from 73 to about 2001, so body parts are plentiful.

I didn't have any trouble getting paid a couple hours to extract busted bolts, I'm not sure if the dealer paid me because that was my time and ate the extra, or what. My statement the first time I was told I wasn't getting paid more than an hour was to tell the SM that I would change the head as well as the manifold, rather than dink around trying to get rotten hardware out and they changed their tune about paying me the time it took to get the busted exhaust studs out. (Was a 4.6 gasser, IIRC.)

I think we should start a thread about pets on here. I have these three dogs: One is a fisherman: One is so fast doin' work that I can't get a picture of him doing it (the red Australian shepherd that looks like he's being the referee in the tug of war.) And one a movie star:

Is it an Escape, Jim? I can't remember what you said it was before. I had a look through the shop manual for that electric Focus (was digging for information for the OHSA traning I was doing - instructor asked about voltage, and I brought up the safety gear, he asked what there was. I told him there was a pole used to pull you off the HEV/EV battery if you got zapped, so you stopped cooking/stinking up the shop LOL), that new 3-D setup in the shop manual for stuff is kinda neat, but I betcha they aren't worth a poop if you print it out for R&R purposes.

^^ Don't get caught though, someone got pinched for that awhile back and there was a big shit storm about it, if I recall rightly.
-
Did they give you your hall pass back Jim?! I have a hard copy of the "Ralph Is A Wiener" thread in my toolbox, I will transpose it to the forum soon.

P252F also looks at EGT to determine oil overfull/consumption as well, does it not?

So this isn't a total crock of shit, it's actually legitimate? Just kinda struck me as a "YOU MAY ALREADY BE A WINNER!" deal.

Ours were renewed every 3 years. Now they are every year, at 6x the previous cost.

Went to see a comedian tonight, Jeremy Hotz. A guy gets up and is walking through the crowd, and comedian goes "And there's this guy! Walking around going "Where's my fuckin' schoolbus?! " I looked over and this guy was the stereotypical elementary school bus driver lookin' guy. I haven't laughed so hard as I did at that in a LONG time.

Thumping noise from E-series 6.0l

Pull the cold side hose off and spin the motor with your starter button and see if it is blowing air out the intake. Sounds to me like she's done for. Does the motor sound "uneven" when cranking? -
Since we're kicking Brad while he's on the floor.... Always wanted to be a fireman, but kept falling off the fire truck. Still pals, right?

^^^ What he said.

No, our license encompasses all of those things. I got my "welcome" package in the mail today.
-
No, your license in general. In Ontario you're required to either be licensed or an apprentice to work in the trade. AFAIK, red seal doesn't really do much for you in Ontario. However - Everyone in Ontario who passes their certificate of qualification gets inter-provincial. "Gold Stars For Everyone" is what it reads to me. I'm not sure why if a guy gets a 70 on his test he should get the exact same wall hanger for someone that gets a 90 or better. No motivation to get better than a 70. (FWIW, I got 90% on my test, for those wondering. LOL)

Had a customer bring an F-150 in, complaint of "binding up" in 4x4. So I jump in, start rolling it down the road, and at about 20mph, I flick the truck into 4x4 hi. The world came to a screeching halt, as well as the front tires. It was like a bull ride, try and hold on to something. I click it back into 2wd, and it goes away. I flip the work order over, and look at the repair history, and OASIS. About 4 or 5 repairs previous, in the summer, it had the rear axle ring and pinion replaced at a dealer about an hour from the one I am working at. Sooooo.... now it's winter and we have issues. I check the warranty history, and the rear gear ratio in the axle according to HVBOM is quite significantly different than the ratio of the gear set installed in the rear axle during the course of the rearend repair. Put the right ring and pinion in it, presto-change-o lockup/binding gone!

Mine renews in July of this year, and the Ministry Of Training is apparently still renewing licenses because the College of Trades folks apparently don't posses the skills to do it for them yet, and it won't let me renew online - says "not for renewal yet".
-
That's where it says the membershit fees, Mike. http://www.collegeoftrades.ca/membership/fees I can't get over the $60 a year to be a freaking apprentice... When I started my apprenticeship I took home $300 a week, plus I was having to buy tools left right and center, and pay for trade school, fuel, insurance, rent, groceries, etc....
-
Renew your Certificate(s) of qualification before April if you can, before the bullshit college of trades raises your yearly renewal from $20 to $120. Those registered as an apprentice will now have to pay $60 per year per trade that they are registered as an apprentice in.

Neat tricks for Sick-O's

I like the sounds of the twisty-frame-cab deal. -
Ahh, I follow. I only saw about 2/3 of the first page of the letter.
-
I read what I could from a letter pic posted online... The condition(s) it seems to state on the letter is that you've had to have repairs done under warranty or during the warranty period. Sooo... they're seeking deductibles back?
