  1. I love my 08. I'm at 176,000km on the original brake pads. I need to swap out the temperature door motor, it's not working right, aside from that it's been a pretty good truck to me. Just put a radiator in it at 165,000kms. Maintenance on these is a big thing, and I personally would never buy one not knowing the maintenance history, unless it was a STEAL, and you knew going into it it may be problematic.
  2. Freezing rain all day today. Had to scrape the windows of the shop truck to go get race gas.
  3. You'll also notice that engineering and warranty audit together have decided to make this three minutes, because if it was 6 or more, you'd need an extra .1
  4. My truck will pull mileage on the IDS during attempted identification/network test without having the key on, just to attest to the "modules stay on with the key off" fact.
  5. Wondering, if the EGR cooler was changed, was the oil cooler changed as well? Maybe if not, it's gobbled the new cooler already? The only truck I've ever had exhibit this concern was a leaky EGR cooler. Just throwing stuff out there.
  6. You want to see some serious mind bending shit? Try watching "My Strange Addiction".
  7. Thanks Keith! Gee, sure can't tell that's a TSB part... $19 from Tasca Parts. LOL.
  8. I need to wrangle myself an IDS and see if there's any codes in it first off. Reading the shop manual a little, there's an initialization procedure that can be done, but I will need to see if there's any codes first. What happens is it's like there's no mid-range on the heat. From about 1/2 the dial to full hot there is no temperature change. It's just peel your face off hot. If you dial it back a little more, it starts to get cold. There's no happy medium, and I guess now that it's starting to warm up outside it won't be as much of a concern, but knowing my luck the stupid thing will go to full hot and stay there when it's 105 degrees outside this summer.
  9. My 08 F-Super duty is erratic as hell when it comes to temperature delivery. I'd like to have a look see at the blend door motor, but without tearing the dash apart to see what's where, I figured I'd have a peek in the WSM. In the R&R procedure, there's a LH and a RH specified. My truck has Single-Zone EMTC - there's no listing for just single mode temperature door motor. Which motor would my pickup have being single zone? The one identified as LH (looks like it's on the bottom of the HVAC housing) or the one identified as RH (looks like it's on the top of the HVAC housing). I haven't had one of these apart for this specific issue before or for diag, and I'd like to know what I'm up against before I start to tearing at it. Thanks fellows!
  10. FWIW, there is a minimum thickness spec for the head casting on these.
  11. (Keith - it was just a reference to Jim calling Ralph a wiener on the Canadian dealer boards, which got him a lifetime ban.)
  12. Was it studded or did it have stock bolts in it? Only a WIENER would do retail heads and not do studs? (Don't take offense to that, it may have happened before you were a member on here.) That being said, can you measure the depths of the deformities on the head surface? Not having an adjustable valvetrain, I'd be leery about machining that cylinder head, because then you'd be into grinding valve stem tips to make everything right again, etc. If the deformities in the deck surface are bad enough that you're worrying about them, odds are the amount of material that will need to be removed will be well past something even serviceable if you were going to do it on your own truck, in my opinion. There was a guy on one of the aftermarket boards that filled the deformities in the deck surface with something like JB Weld or some such thing, then ground it flat. Was a pretty sharp repair. LOL.
  13. Quoted for truth, and been there, done that, f*ck that.
  14. They don't up you to the next component replacement level if individual parts to complete an assembly aren't available? They used to do that if it was gonna take 5 days to get the pieces you need to fix an engine/trans/whatever. You'd get an assembly.
  15. If we could stop talking about out-of-warranty 6.4 failures, I sure would appreciate it. Thanks! LOL
  16. Asphalt. Delaware Speedway is the track, we are going to road course race the car at Mosport as well we hope. It should be a pretty fun ride. We are thinking of doing 24 Hours of LeMons, or Chump Car racing, also. Doing 'er on the cheap!
  17. As I was talking about before, we like to stack 'em high to make a ghetto spool. I went looking in the tickle trunk today for some clutches/plates/etc and lo-and-behold, I'm out of stock! Anyone got any they want to donate to our racing program? I will send you an autographed picture of the car, in recognition, as well as write your name on the trunklid in sharpie pen. This is for our 96 Mustang GT circle track race car we're putting together on the cheap as a fun toy for weekends. Any help is appreciated!
  18. I'm almost beginning to think that it's substituting high values to make other shit happen, be it fail safe, limp home, fan on "suck pedestrians through the grille" speed, etc. But you'd think that'd be built into the DTC for the open circuit on the sensor. I dunno. Beer.
  19. As Mr. Yunick would say Our rules just said no spool/welded diffs. If they wanted to check it, we'd pull the cover. You guys oughta see what we've got stashed away - in 1996, the Ford Mustang was available with a 32v 4.6 DOHC. Our car's body/chassis is 1996 Mustang. Weeeeelll.... We build competition 4.6's at work. Sooo... All the parts have Ford part numbers on them, and are factory available parts.
  20. It was 12 degrees Celsius here on the weekend. It was -2 degrees Celsius here today. And snowing like a bitch.
  21. Last couple I did were the same way. PPT says it needs a pump, swap the pump, oh, look at that - it needs a gear/rack/etc. (F-150's all of them, as I recall) Probably a good thing you ordered both parts.
  22. Stack a few extras in a carrier and make a ghetto spool Meets class rules, is a factory posi! We did it for circle track all the time with 8.8's
