How the hell are you supposed to get the harness out without killing it?
Got one that came in with water running out tailpipe and locked up. Another tech started pulling the GP's to get it to crank over. I inherited it as he seems to have trouble working 5 days in a row. Boss said "screw him, you get the whole ticket" as he allready had the LH side off, EGR out, CAC tubes off, coolant drained, etc, thinking it had blown head gasket......Ended up pulling the inner fender to gain access on RH side. Got 3 of 4 out but the front one was just crumbling up. Used a slide hammer and screw deal to get the remains out!
After I cranked the water out of it I put the GP's back in and ran relative comp with WDS as we apparently don't have the proper tools to do a manual comp test. 1st attempt has cyl's 6 & 8 down 2%. Sec attempt had 3 different cyl's down 1%. Cold engine. It was still ingesting some water, likely lying in intake, as toward the end of the test it would "hit" harder on one cyl but I don't think it has hurt itself.
Ordered an EGR cooler "kit" as we have to get it running to see if it's OK or not. They are sending all the associated parts, gaskets, bolts etc, with the coolers now!
Another stupid question.....how do you get a tool into the serp belt tensioner? Hmmmmm.....maybe have someone pull on the belt while you push the lock tab on the tensioner up? That'll work I believe! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/poke.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/sleep.gif
