  1. WEll? If you had parked it under a shade tree it would have started eventually! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/hammer2.gif
  2. If this company has these why can't ford get them? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ford-Floo...1QQcmdZViewItem Quote: you can just buy the cables if you have access to a VCM. the software can be downloaded. has to be run on XP pro, home will not work wireless to the VCM doesnt work yet, no word if it will ever work. a desktop will work if it meets the minimum specs. Any comments on the above EBay link? Do you suppose they are selling stuff they don't actually have? Thanks for the info. I have a spare desk-top that will do what I need. Just will have to buy the cables, XP Pro and give it a douche'! Are the cables i need readily availble? Cost? The shop says it has one vcm for IDS use...I don't guess they have a computer, I'm assuming they are waiting for the laptop, to put it on/in/whatever... /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/poke.gif Hmmm? I smell smoke? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/hitthefan.gif
  3. OK? Very basic qestions...I'm starting from scratch here! 1. What are the options for using your "own" computer and just buy the cables needed? 2. Can you use a desktop with wireless card for IDS use "in bay"? 3. Will XP Home Edition work or only XP Pro? The shop I think I'm going to has no PDS or IDS yet...I thought the IDS was just a download? Or are they just talking about getting the Toughbooks with it allready loaded? If this company has these why can't ford get them? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ford-Floo...1QQcmdZViewItem
  4. I'm gonna do it...it IS what I do...
  5. You can/could use the WDS? Not sure how thats done now?
  6. I did until I got so broke I had to sell it...now I am working for a guy that has heavy construction/grading equipment. He had it all leased to a company that manged to blow-up both engines on a Cat 627 pan and a D7G loader within a months time! It doesn't take long to kill an engine when you run them without oil & coolant... My primary duties are preping his bike, KTM 300 W-XC for enduros and resurecting the F450's, Chevy Suburban, water pumps, welders, etc...he has 3 bikes, 06 & 05 300, 03 450EXC and I can ride when I want...but my back says NO! I ride occasionally but it just isn't fun when you are worried about moving the wrong way and being miserable for days after... I just bought an inversion table to help stretch my back...it's helping but 40 years of abuse isn't easily fixed... Sorry for the off-topic and whining...
  7. Same old crap about doing the QCM's and everything is WONDERFUL...I find it really tough to "upsell" repairs on trucks with less than 30K on the clock...I'm done...
  8. Ford Pushes Back Pickup Launch Ford Motor Co. has pushed back the introduction of its redesigned F-Series Super Duty pickup trucks by about three months to ensure the quality of a new line of diesel engines. The Super Duty pickups, heavier-duty versions of Ford's best-selling F-Series trucks, initially were scheduled to debut early in the fourth quarter as part of the auto maker's 2007 model-year lineup. Now, Ford has moved the launch to January. Ford spokeswoman Sara Tatchio said there is "nothing significant to point to" as a reason for the delay. People close to the program, however, pin the delay on issues related to a new diesel engine under development for the truck. 9. I've been offered a sign-on bonus...it was 1500 spread over six months after six months employment...not "exactly" what I call a SIGN-ON BONUS!!!
  10. What are the terms? You get $150.00 a month for a year after you've been there one year?
  11. I left the business last fall after 30 years but am still hanging around here seing whats new...misery-loves-company? I am thinking about making a come-back but probably not in a dealership.
  12. I installed one of the "6.0L" sensors in a 7.3, worked fine. I did have to loosen the lift bracket and shift it's position slightly for clearance. I went back to parts and verified the part # before I put it in...
  13. They supposedly use the same sensor since last fall?
  14. Watch/record the EBP_G PID!!!!! Clean the sensor tube and manifold fitting if it glitchs!
  15. They undoubtably will come-out with a new pressure line or cooler to correct this concern. Just no way of knowing when?
  16. Did you run relative comp test? Maybe you have a base engine concern. Seems odd it would affect all cyls on one bank but???
  17. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20051115/ap_on_bi_ge/gm_bankruptcy_fears I interviewed at a NC Ford dealer on Monday. Got the job if I want it? Do I? Not really......this is gonna get UGLY!!!!!!
  18. Quote: estimated to increase $5,000 to $6,000 per vehicle So is a $45,000.00 Dually going to jump in price by 5-6K in one model year?
  19. On my "F-450 from hell" experience they said 24 max. It was rotuinely going 28-30lbs. Ran like a raped ape once you got it spooled-up though! The hotline said to be sure the check the EBP tube as they are now seeing these clog just as the 7.3 did but much earlier. Apparently the tube doesn't have to be completely clogged to create problems and will still pass all On-Demand tests.
  20. Don't be suprised if you end-up pulling the wires out of the connectors. I've had to drill a hole in the piece left in the head and use a small slide-hammer. Not a big deal just tough to access. Make sure you punch the clock & document what you have to remove for access.
  21. I used a "retired" fuel pressure gauge I had in my box that has a 4-5' hose and just stuck the guage under the wiper arm. Just had to buy one fitting to adapt the air test fitting, a 1/8" pipe to 1/4", to one of the other unused fittings in my kit to make it a quick-disconnect set-up. If I were doing it over I would try to come-up with a 45 degree fitting so you can get it past the top rad hose easier. I actually got the WDS to work briefly......suspect operator error kicked-in......
  22. Didn't have a whole lot of hair to loose! Well....the traveling circus hits the road again. I resigned this morning! My heart just ain't in it anymore! I was the second tech in the door and by 8:30 everyone else had work while I was standing with my thumb in my.....ear.....you thought I was gonna say something else, huh? I talked to the SM last night about not being able to continue under the current situation and he gave me the std "I need to get out and drum up some more diesel work" and "things are starting to pick-up" speech.....that doesn't help me TODAY! I'm just not suited for "flat-rate" sell-them-a-flush type work......sorry for the off-topic but I'm bummed..... Maybe try being a greeter at Walmart next? Later Guys!
  23. OK! Replaced 3 injectors, all have now been replaced & found ICP leaking profusely. Replaced ICP & connector. WDS didn't want to co-operate for fuel pressure test? Think the PVT stuck? It wouldn't let me calibrate it. Finally plumbed-up an old manual guage. 55lbs at cruise 48lbs at max load. Put gauge on another 03 model and same readings. Still over-boosting, sometimes to 30lbs!!!!! Ran like stink on a gorilla most of the time? Hmmmmmm????? Sent recordings to hotline. They said "classic stuck turbo", replace turbo! I asked "how many turbos is it gonna take to fix one truck"? He insisted that was it. Ok? Replaced turbo. NO CHANGE! Sent another recording. Ahhh-hah! Found it! EPB_G is the magic bullet. That is the unfiltered/unbuffered input to the PCM for back-pressure. The reading was dropping out intermitantly for a millisec or so. That would make the VGT go crazy trying to "make" back-pressure. Result....Intake pop/backfire, stumble, smoke, etc....He rec replace EBP & connector. That would make 3 times in less than 4 months? Said to be sure the tube wasn't plugged. DOH! Tried to blow thru tube. Seemed to flow a little at first but then got "tight". Loosened end at manifold and blew thru it. Big chunk came out. Looked at fitting in manifold. PLUGGED! WHY WOULD IT PASS KOER TEST AND SHOW EBP PIDS NORMAL? I'm assuming when I intially started to blow it out I forced carbon back into a mostly plugged manifold fitting. Apparently it had enough flow to "pass" all tests. When it got hot it would restrict the flow enough to cause problems. I replaced the EBP and connector....Oh?Previous tech must have use a hedge trimmer to strip the wiring. Had to cut wiring back more than an inch past previous "repair" to elminate possible shorting due to hacked insulation. I had looked at this before but apparently didn't look closely enough.....it was hacked under/thru the tape! Test drove.....23.5lbs boost and no concerns! YEE-HAA! So the moral is.....learn what ALL the pids mean/indicate. I had noticed the EBP_G go to 0 briefly when using the NGS plus but didn't know that was a concern. Still not convinced the NGS works correctly on these? I'm sure glad it's gone! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/puke.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rockon.gif
  24. It's finally gone! You won't believe what it was?
