Our GM wont hold staff meetings for the svc dept. He knows absolutely nothing about a service dept, and the only time we hear anything from him is when the #s are low or something went wrong. We would love a productive staff meeting, but are (literally) not alowed. (we tried and got in shit) He did hold one general staff meeting a while ago, and just went on for 45 minutes about the market and market shares and our dealers standing in the current market. We did get free booze and meat and cheese though.

Hey Larry, were you ever able to find any info on this setup. It looks like i am putting an engine in this unit, as it turns out its dusted, compression is low, crankcase pressure is way high, and it burns 2 gal of oil per day. We have come to findout that this is an 05 unit, with an 04 engine. Case will not sell the same engine for this, as apparantly it is supposed to have a bunch of emission controls on it.( I'm wondering if that is why info is hard to come by?) They will only sell the newer engine and add $6000 to bring it up to 05 emission levels. So that brings the total for a 4 cyl diesel engine to $20,000 canadian. So we are now looking for a reman engine, if anybody has a supplier that builds this kindof stuff, a referal would be appreciated. ( Preferably in the nw states or western canada)

Distorted Turbocharger
cbriggs replied to Keith Browning's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
I'm in the intake removal camp as well. Once the turbo is already off, i have decided it less frustrating and just as fast to re and re intake, rather than deal with mud or rust to loosen the y pipe. -
We're at 2700 feet and i see 380 to 390 ish.

'08 Escape Transmission Fluid Coolers
cbriggs replied to mchan68's topic in Driveline: Transmissions, Clutches and Axles
Thats usually what they do for a recalled part. Remember 7.3 cmp sensors? -
I wonder if these guys all get fuel at the same station? Wow thats a lot of the same concern. How big is your dealer / customer base?

Right side up-pipe removal tricks???
cbriggs replied to Mekanik's topic in 6.4L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
Last one i did i had to push up on the front of the engine with a tall jack stand, then downpipe (literaly) fell out. Also i think removing egrt sensor helped. It was a while ago. -
Ya, we were hearing about that at work today. Scary shit.

This one may already be on here, but i have found it relevent a few times as of late, so, here it is: "I'de agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong" or "I see your point of view, but you're still an idiot"

Yeah, i had a 6.4 with 3 exhaust valves seized, one bad enough to break the rocker. Truck was a specially ordered 550, went in service 20ish days after build, so it didnt sit on the lot. Had 20000km on it when it let go. All i found was rust and corrosion builup in all guides on left head, right hand side was ok.

Have seen three or four waterpumps in reman engines fail as well.

I saved a set of intake port covers off a long block job to cap the intake ports, then let loose with the blow gun and a scraper to clear crap away. Be very aware of the tight section right behind the front cover area.

Just had that in advanced driveability classroom last week. The part of the test where you look over a recording which runs from 0 to 60 seconds. Question 1 is, what pids if any are out of spec at -40 seconds. I thought it was a typo, so i asked.....

Ya, Ive seen a few with the rubber seperating.

YA, what came first, the chicken or the egg?

I use the wheel acid from the detail bay. It leaves them shiny and new, and removes all my nosehair in the process. I had one last week that i pressure washed enough carbon out of it to make a softball (no joke). I was chasing an excessive smoke complaint, and when i reported coking to hotline they wanted it all cleaned before proceding. EGR cooler and valve where pluggged, intake was plugged, vgt was plugged and rusted all to crap. Source of coking ended up being (8) fuel injectors. This thing was on a diesel care esp. No fuel contamination or signs thereof were found. Ended up spending over 7 hours completing and waiting for prior approval on this job, not to mention 3 hotline requests and a 1 hour phone call.

Ya the pucker factor would be high the first time for sure. I'm dealing with the same bs as Alex right now(just on a smaller scale). I am the only (ford) trained tech in our shop. I am 1 classroom course away from masters, and find myself doing nothing but warranty work, 1, because im the only one with any certs, and 2 because im the only one sm trusts with tough diags or fixes. The other tech and the apprentice do most of our retail work. I am finding warranty harder and harder to deal with, and having to waste time with sm on warranty admin crap, that i dont get paid for. I am finding my paycheques getting smaller and smaller, but going home with stress induced headaches and anger. I am thinking of going to managment and suggesting they come up with a new paysystem for me, or im gonna.... Well, im not sure what.

P0191 would've been your code. The vac line going into sensor causes engine vacuum referenced bias on the sensor, essentially tricks the pcm into lowering fuel pressure at high vacuum, (similar to a vacuum regulator on a returning system.)If you unhook vacuum hose with guage installed the pressures should match.

My question is, what about emissions. When these have an injector issue they typically pump out smoke of some color. I am doing one right now for excessive smoke, fuel smell. Egr, cooler and intake are all completely plugged with carbon. Trying to get prior approval for egr cooler, valve, chra and intake decarbon. Esp wants pictures of both filters, oil filter, plates, vin, chra, egr valve, egr cooler, odo, hr meter, injectors, valve train. The last two baffle me as i dont have the vc's off, and haven't even asked for injectors yet.

Any body catch the Warrantee Action Notice (#2 -2010) that came out on friday about 6l injectors and fuel contamination. Essentially they are saying that prettymuch all 6l injector concerns and failures are caused by fuel contamination and dirt and desbris in the injectors. So my question is, when are they going to recall their filter system that is allowing the dirt and desbris into the injectors? Unbeleiveable, read thru it for a good laugh. (with pictures)
