  1. My cousin was lucky enogh to get the cash instead at the time. They gave him $17000 if he would trade for another Toyota. They called him up for an inspection, took his truck off the road on the spot , got into a rental and three dyas later drove off with a new one.He his still laughing at it.
  2. Headsup guys,We are experiencing a bad batch of rebuilt ficm module. I,ve replaced one last week and came back monday morning, the ficm Lwr, Ficm vpwr and mpwr are low just after turning key on, it will take 10 to 15 seconds to come back to normal voltage.I,ve performed the tsb procedure completly, load test all power circuit and ground circuits and all ok. replaced ficm module again and same concern.Called Hotline 3 times and 3 rd timehad a good guy telling me they had a mmeting yesterday about this issue. They recommend me to swap ficm with a known good vehicle. Now the low voltage would follow the bad ficm. Hotline are all aware of this issue and are looking into it. Now i was told to reorder another and see what happens. Note the ficmLpwr would start at 3.5volts and ramp up .5volts upto battery voltage. Anyone has gone through this now?
  3. I got another 6.0l e sees today with hard cold start, was left over the weekend. Started it up this am and would barely crank. performed self test before disconnecting batteries and had no codes. Ended up cleaning all battery posts and replacing both batteries.Vehicle still cold, now i was monitoring Ficm mpower 22volts, ficm Lpower 3-5volts, ficmVpower 3-5 volts and Vpower 11.8volts> this only last for 15 seconds when key is on each time, all normal after.vehicle starts fine and no codes. Have performed tsb procedure , check all grounds, power from ficm relayto ficm connector, swap ficm relay, load test circuits and disconnected glow plug system.also tried another ficm and still the same. I did not have another e series to compare but and f series ficm Mpower is 47.5 volts and ficmlpower is same as battery voltage when key is first turned on. Will be checking further more tomorrow but was curious if anybody ever notice or seen this before.
  4. I was diagnosed with it about two years ago, they wanted to operate me right away, I was 37 then.I refused , I wanted to check for any other option, i have known several person that had the operation and some were very successfull and some had very bad result.I read a little bit on it and decided to see a physiotherapist for two months. It help a lot but my hands still fall a sleep, sometimes just holding my fork and eating. I hadsome kind of brace to my wrist that i would sleep with but it was too hot, i would wake up and my hands all sweaty. The key point is to stretch your arms, wrist and shoulders. I found it helps a lot.I just hope it doesn,t get worst. What i hate the most about it is when I drop something, I don,t even feel it spliping out of my hand. Also I stop complaining about to my wife, she says i should get operated. Good luck guys.
  5. Never seen a ficm failure on E-series yet until today, had two back to back . Had one in stock and second BO.
  6. Also i have had several hoot type or whystling noise from degas cap when excessive cooling system pressure.Install an inline pressure gauge in cooling system and monitor pressure when noise occurs.Hope this help but Bruno is also correct, this is just another thing to check.
  7. Dwayne have another look, the englishmen are getting faster in translating.By the way you would even want to know how it ends up in French. You still have to read the english version to understand.
  8. Good saying there Dwayne that is why i don,t follow that tsb procedure completely.I sure know that after checking both batteries and LPWR ,B+ and and ficm MPWR is low there is a concern with the FICM.Aren't we supposed to diag a concern and duplicate it in the same condition it actually happens " PER FORD TRAINING COURSES"????NOW Dwayne you got going, this is the same thing as for the PCM REPROGRAMM TSB'S that pays .4 or .5hrs. Heres an example , erratic 1-2 shift for the F150's . Aren't we suppose to verify concern, diag, performed repair and then verify the repair? What happenned to what we werethought in FORD SCHOOL, that formula "Scc??? thats why I can't even remember it , waranty time don,t allow us to use it" And then customer comes back and saying that concern is sill there. If you performed a repair which actually repairs the concern and you haven,t performed the tsb procedure then thre's a charge back"TSB procedure not followed"Where the f* are we going with this waranty bullshit.
  9. I know these plugs sucks, actually i've never tried the new procedure per tsb, when it came out we actually had found something a little faster from the other website.I have not had any problem by just littly tapping down that porcelain with a punch until it kind of bottoms out on the ground shield ,then used the tap, after screw in the extractor tool we first received,It works great, after a couple i got the feel of it. After each one I extractI used the boroscope to look inside the cylinder for any crap.Only once i had a small piece of porcelain but I took it out with a small diameter long steel rod with dielectric grease on the end and I managed to remove the piece out.For the time, usually within 1/2 hour depending on which cylinder it is.Straight time for this repair would be fair or at least 1 hour per broken plug.
  10. This is an 03 with infered ebp so i cannot perfome a vvt test .I final got the story straight from this truck, our local GM dealer sold this with a coast to coast waranty now they won,t pay for anything that is not in oil. So customer is pissed out this waranty that the GM dealer sold him.The last I've heard is that he is returning thetruck back.
  11. It's about time they come out with the unison ring part #, I,ve replaced quite a few turbo for a damaged unison ring only.I just remember a few years back hotline tech telling us that turbo were a none serviceable item.If theycan only make up there mind, us has tech we just have to keep reading those tsb,s not to be fooled by a revised procedure.
  12. Thanks guys for your opinion, i never thought about that aluminium platform, i got one over the week end at home depot for $64.I tried it today and not bad, it could of been 4 inch lower but thats ok .I will get used to it.
  13. I am just curious to know what are you guys using for step bench to work on super duties engine compartment. I have a wooden 3 step type stair that i use but i sick and tired of it.On a hoist i will removed both frt wheels to lower the frt end but the bay that i often use has no hoist .Mac tool had a bench but it is over 700$ ,i don,t know if it realy worth buying it or not.
  14. My feeling was thati should have a look at this turbo anyway, so i got the ok from customer to inspect it and sure enough that unison ring was almost seized and binding.By the way anyone have actually had a turbo cooked ? Personnaly i never had one, but here they are full of corrosion, rust build up which leads to chra replacement.
  15. Mike both pids are yes, i drove this vehicle home last night with ids and was not able to duplicate concern again. This is a 75km trip.
  16. I,ve got this 03 f350 auto trans and inferred ebp, customer complained about a surge and noise. I drove this vehicle home and sure enough at 1800rpm at steady cruise i couldfeel a slight surge and the turbo whistling noise changing constantly, as soon as you accel it,s ok and good boost 23psi, no black smoke. retreived code p006a,p0402 and p132b. i cleared codes performed normal diag, egr is new, no cooking in intake very clean,no air leak between maf and turbo. Iat2 is not clogged up,I have not inspected turbo but vanes do not seem to stick. After i cleared the code and re road tested with ids to monitor pids i was never able to reduplicate concern.I inspected the maf and is pretty contaminated, since this is the primary input for the turbocharger operation i thinking of replacing it. This vehicle as an after market waranty which is a one shot deal.Any other advise would be appreciated. If i could only reduplicate it to monitor pids.
  17. By the way what do you guys charge for manual compression test on e series, Thanks.
  18. Here we have a tech that always tell us" Remember cross threads is better than no threads"
  19. Yes Michael I have one too, I used it everywhere and almost every day, even used it as a flash light in tight spot, check cac for presence of oil, check intake through egr for excessive carbon , injector bore, under dash.i like it a lot.
  20. Good work Keith, i googled the company name,Ford VCM and could not find anything conclusive.Thank you for taking the time to find it,I neverthought to try the phone # on the net.
  21. Today our dealer received an email from BWL automotive science and technology co, they are the manufacturer and wholesaler of auto diagnostic equipment from china. They supply such as GT1 for bmw,XPSTAR for Mercedes,5052a for audi, Piwis for Porche, Consult 3 for Nissan and VCM for Ford,HIM for honda and Dice for Volvo.Anybody heard of them before. They left a phone # 0086-571-88989721 and this store name and address Jingtong auto parts mart,Hangzhou city,Zhejiang province, china. And no this is not a joke. I,m just scared to called and get a $500 phone bill. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/scratchhead.gif
  22. Thanks Jim, i tried our boescope but the tip end is too big and to access that #5 glow plug is a pain on e series.Just not enough room in there.By the way yesterday i replace a #1 injector on a 01 7.3 e series, after working on a 6.0l this was like an orgasm. Now i wonder why we ever complained when the 7.3 came out.
  23. I had an E450 towed in with bad white smoke and missing. performed all usual diag and #5 injector was overfueling badly, power balance showed it nicely, then relative compression test revealed no low cylinders after running engine with #5 injector canceled. Did not performed manual compression test because of access limitation .Drop and injector in, restarted engine and still missing on that cylinder.now i performed a manual compression test and had 345psi which did not show on relative compression test. Removed cylinder head to find burnt exhaust valve, scored cylinder with damaged piston. Ended up with new short block and a new head.My question is, any tips or ways to lead me into that low compression cylinder without a manual compression test (hard to access) or save me time from putting that injector in and re evaluating then find out i need an engine repair. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/scratchhead.gif
  24. I re road tested both trucks and ran fine, send them out and have not called back yet, thanks for the heads up.
  25. He reminds me of one guy that i used to work with, his mouth would never shut up and he actually beleived in his own lies. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/whattodo.gif
