  1. HEHEHE.... I'm sure I'll pay for that comment on monday jim eh!!
  2. I used to use a 3/8 mac tools air ratchet. I never personally had one break. A couple of other guys in our shop used the same thing as well and never had an issue. All this of course got the dirty look of dissapproval from Miss Warman, but I still never had one break so ppfffffffffffffftttttttttttt JIM.
  3. http://www.xtranormal.com/watch?e=20090313143505178 here is what rex would look like as a cute gay bear.
  4. You're telling me.. I don't know how that's going to go over on the customer's side. There is no way in hell that a court case is going to be won by Ford Motor Company. It's a way of dumping this all on the dealers lap. Just sounds like a ball of happy fun time!
  5. Another new thing that was interesting at a meeting yesterday. There is a possibilty of FICM becoming internally servicable. They are thinking about getting the internal inverter board revamped and beefed up and allowing techs to dissassemble modules and replace boards. Doesn't that sound like a GREAT thing!!! Not sure if it will happen or not but if it does it will suck.
  6. I just got back from a meeting with a bunch of ford motor company people. They are re-writing tsb 08-11-03 to include changine the oil cooler everytime you change egr cooler, but now there's going to be a catch. You will need maint records for the vehicle showing proper oil changes and coolant change. They are blaming sludgey oil and bad coolant as causes of oil cooler plugging off which is fair in some cases, but the catch is they say the plugged oil cooler is causin the egr cooler to "super heat" the coolant causing cavitaion wrecking the head gaskets??? All I have to say is WTF!!
  7. That aux button is for a factory sattelite radio. have spent hours on the phone dealing with customers for this issue. there is the trip tunes thing you can get that will work with the aux button as well. not to sure about the price. I know it works for sure with the 07 model year but I am not 100% on the 06 model year. I don't think there is much of a difference.
  8. sounds like a good candidate for head gaskets. would definately suggest head studs on that one if the customer wants to use the truck for any amount time. check the cooling fan and a plugged off ran have seen that a few times as well, but the chip makes me want to say head gaskets.
  9. now this frickin truck runs like a dream. approx 3oo km put on it not a lick of issues. no noise runs like a dream unable to duplicate concern. i really have no clue what the issue was. cold start and warm start now everything fine. -37 degree c yesterday and it started like a dream. hotline has nothing, but i really don't know what to look for on something running fine. customer of course wants an engine ford says no for obvious reasons.
  10. is the abs light on. we had one do the same thing exactly. ended up all three abs sensors were bad causing it to default basing load of oss in tranny. replaced rear abs sensor to try now worked fine.
  11. We've gotta strange one here wondering if iny one has had one like this. 2008 6.4l job one truck. came in for running rough and smoking. performed diag crank case over full and found when doing relative compression #2 is 0. removed glow plug and tip is gone. removed head found #2 injector tip gone and hole burnt in exhaust valve. cylinder looked ok and did not show signs of shortened rod. replaced head injector and glow plug. truck ran like a dream. customer took truck and returned 300 km later doing the same thing. # 2 missing now found # injector leaking again from tip. replaced injector and put truck back together. 20 minutes after this john guy from ford phoned and said replaced the other 7 injectors as they were part of the suspect injector range.( this was 2 days before recall came out). replaced the other 7 injector and retested. ran good on first road test. second road test engine began to make a knocking noise. shut truck off and restarted ran fine no noise. Mr Jim Warman started it up and it ran like crap. missing on 5 cylinders knocking away and smoking like crazy. shut truck off and restarted ran like a dream. smoked black for about 2 km on road test and never missed a beat again. knock is almost gone but you can hear a slight bit mostly at idle. the manual compression readings were 300-315 on most cylinders except #2 it was at 280 psi. cylinder walls all look ok.
  12. if you click on the little rss logo in the bottom right corner, and go into the post that shows powerstroke mob taking over there is a priceless photo of what my pogopossum/jim warman looks like. I just about pissed myself when I saw it. http://autotrend.activeboard.com/index.spark
  13. That repair pal site must be run off warranty time minus 20 %.
  14. Well dwayne it is 8:00 am the day after and your post is still ot deleted. The censor bots must still be sleeping.
  15. Got one here customer bought and 08 f350 in september last year in edmonton. brought it here no coolant in degas bottle was overheating and knocking like a bugger. checked oil it looked like tar and as soon as you filled coolant up the truck smoked white like there was no tommorow. dropped oil and got about 9 litres of black goo out of crank case. truck has 96000 km on it and not one oil change done. customers mentality was it was a lease ford should pay for the oil changes. needs an engine warranty denied. gotta love the smarts of some people.
  16. Dwayne had a similar issue with an 05 6.0 running for a bit then dying. usually ran for 1/2 hour or so then would die. sometimes would restart others not. icp showed low when it would not start. no leaks. removed the pan to find carbon chunks the size of pancakes floating in the pan and getting stuck under the pickup screen blocking base oil. ended up starving a brand new hpop, scoring the lp oil pump and ripped the oil cooler screen a couple of times when the carbon would break down and go through syste. caused a hell of a lot of grief.
  17. That's really weird. In November I went to a Service Managers meeting and they were asking what we thought of uping the rewards and what to change in the senior/master recognition department. They said that they were not going to stop the program because it keeps warranty repairs easier to manage. Gotta love cutbacks!
  18. Ours just broke and when we phoned to get a new one they said it would be warranty because they have had too many problems with the old design.
  19. I can't believe that jim actually tried to be diplomatic, he's always been the freak out first then review the situation later kind of guy. I now have seen that hell must be getting ready to freeze over.
  20. I have seen a few times the wires break at the back of the apcm where the wires go back up under the dash. Had one about a month ago do this. can't remember off the top of my head which wires they were but the thing read rpm and lit up but could not change rpm. Have also seen bad apcm's as well.
  21. No matter how much you appeal they are probably not going to pay. In the last conversation I had with them over this truck they told me that it is up to the customer to make sure the fail safe for water in fuel works, So I asked if that means the customer should be taking clear hose with them to the gas station and filling up through that into a water seperator then into the truck to verify fuel is good. He hung up on me, and I wasn'teven being rude. From what I can tell even if one of their fail safes is faulty it's up to the customer in the end to pay the bill. Don't get me wrong water in fuel shouldn't be a warrantable concern but if you don't know about the fuel issue how is it supposed to be rectified before damage is done. Hotline stated that in the owners manual it shows that water in fuel seperator MUST be drained every oil change. I went through the truck and found manual and had some late night reading to not find the as forementioned quote. I guess it's only in the 5th rewrite of the manual. Once again this is ford faulting on them selves. Oh well customer dropped off a PO for the work. Crumpled in a ball and thrown at my head mind you, but still a PO.
  22. We just had a good one come through. Large fleet company, I mean hundreds of trucks per year brought in an 08 350 running rough. no water in fuel light on and no codes for water in fuel 12000 km. pulled fuel sample and a tonne of water came out. did testing to find that water in fuel sensor in fact does NOT work and never brought up that there was water in fuel. To me this would show that it is a ford problem causing the fail safe not to work. How is the customer supposed to know about the water if no light comes on. Ford said no to warranty to me and to the fleet manager. This caused a huge fight in calgary. Fleet is now thinking of switching brands due to this and 5 other trucks in fleet with the same issue of water in fuel light not working, all trucks under 15000 km and required 10000 dollar repairs. I find that a hard pill to swallow, but the bad part is we (the dealer) are the ones taking the heat for the issue. I know that contaminated fuel is not fords problem but the faulty failsafe is. They don't even want to pay for the water in fuel sensor because they say it's the excessive water that damaged it. All I have to say is I'm glad I don't have to fight with the fleet for this one.
  23. Being a SM myself and having to work along side grampy jim as a tech over the last 5 years I have found that conversation and fun in the shop helps things go round. I have heard so many stories in the past from friends at other dealers and shops that basically become bay hermits when they hit the shop floor. If you can't enjoy being at work and have some fun I think management needs to check themselves. I've only been at this for 9 months now and am about 1/3 the age of grampy jim, but know that if some one offers advice or knowledge you should take it into consideration(even though it maybe sinility kicking in) all advise is welcome. Stories that can make you shake your head is when you forget the basics(GRAMPY, and myself included)Jim's first job when he started at the dealer was a windstar with no rear lights. spent 3-4 hours on to find a burnt fuse. I know I have done the same many times over the years, you gotta love when the old flate rate mentality kicks in and money hits the head.
