  1. So it can be done with out a body lift? I assume you lifted the engine though?
  2. Just finished a primary rad on a 2012 F350 6.7L, IN 2 HOURS!!!! Retail too. Cha Ching.. Quoted 4.7 hrs.
  3. It is leaking pretty bad. The shelf portion of the upper pan, on both sides, has a pool of oil. Everything above it is dry. Front and rear seals are dry, bed plate seam is dry. I might be jumping the gun on the gasket missing, but with the amount of paint on this things to slow the leak, I wouldn't be surprised.
  4. Have one coming in on monday that I need to get the upper pan out of. Installed an enhanced short block not to long ago and I suspect they may have neglected to install the gasket between the upper pan and block. WSM says I need to lift the cab to get enough clearance to get it out. Has anyone tried pulling the transmission instead, and was it faster? Any other suggestion are welcome. Never done this on a 6.4L.
  5. Sounds like you got a corrupt download. We updated to 85.02 yesterday and is fine. Also running Win7. FWIW I always have the current and previous versions of IDS saved to my hard drive, that way if I encounter a problem with an update I can go back to the previous version quickly.
  6. Every failed engine I have replaced has been in an F550.

    6.4L Debacle

We have put through 6L short blocks on ESP dieselcare as excessive cylinder wall taper, that were obviously dusted. Service managers decision, not mine. The bigger question here is are you concerned about not getting paid for the job if the claim is denied?
  8. The hail was so bad in Edmonton that the schools were not letting the kids leave. The public transit system shut down as well.
  9. Just for shiggles, I took the head off of one of them TSB applied engines. Half the exhaust valve had become part of the piston.
  10. Taken from out the front of work.
  11. Saw this one on AFV last night. OMG. Pay close attention to how the mom talks.
  12. This was caused by a bad injector. No pistons available, so we are short blocking it.
  13. Other than some slight scraping on the bottom of the piston, there was no other damage to the engine.
  14. Nope, this a an oil field "Site only" maintenance truck.
  15. And here is #2 piston at top dead center.... My first thought was they took it swimming, but there is no water in the intercooler and intake and turbo look good. It had that hole's injector replaced by them in the field, (they are certified by Ford to perform small warranty jobs), but the RO has that done over 100 KM's ago. The rod is bent and other than some slight scraping of the piston on the crank, there was no internal damage. No pistons available so it gets a short block.
  16. The Atlas will never go into production, sad but true.
  17. 2012 F550 6.7L, 2944 Kms, 911 hrs, 809 idle hrs. Low compression on #2.....
  18. Is the connector seated properly? I forgot to plug one in once and had a bitch of a time after all was back together. Ended up having to get the PS pump out of the way to get it to seat all the way.
  19. OMG, that is the stupidest thing I have ever read. Is this some kind of joke? I have heard of 2 techs teaming up, mainly to get fleet vehicles out the door faster, benefits the fleets mostly and keeps them happy. This is freaking ridiculous, you get one bad tech and everyone gets hit. It sounds like they are trying to weed out some techs, IMO.
  20. Tearing into a 2008 Escape. Main issue is VBAT is reading 15.1 volts and the battery light is on. VGEN always reads correct battery voltage. After some previous diagnosis it was found that VBAT drops to normal when the transmission solenoid body is unplugged. Going to remove the solenoid body and see if I can pinpoint a specific solenoid. I was wondering if anyone has had this sort of issue or has any knowledge on how a solenoid body can throw a false VBAT reading back to the PCM? Edit: It worked. New solenoid body and vbat is back to normal.
  21. Just a thought, I was instructed by hotline to let the truck sit key off for 3 minutes minimum after any parameter reset to let the module go through the power down sequence. Worth a try if you didn't wait this long.
  22. Having side tanks instead of top/bottom may be the actual issue here. 6L rads do not suffer this fate and frame structure has not changed that much in the last 2 vehicle changes. It could be possible that we are looking at multiple causes here. We have trucks that look like they never leave the highway that come in with rad leaks. On the other hand we get trucks that have spent their entire life on a lease road with no sign of a leak.
  23. Not exactly sure why they did this, but I know of one person, not me, that has blasted hotline a few times because of it.
