  1. Is it a true 8 speed, or just runs 3 different combinations of 5 or 6 speeds?
  2. I found them!!!!!!!!! Rejoice, the world is right again. They fell down into the wall support beam beside my bench. The one place I did not look.
  3. There have been others posting this technique, one guy pulls them with the fan and diffuser still attached. I can't take all the credit.
  4. Using cardboard when putting it back in is a must. That and gravity help it slide right into place with little to no effort.
  5. I guess these bad boys are finally coming out of warranty,eh? We haven't done a warrenty rad in a long time. The few retail rads we get, 1/2 of them leave without replacement. Not sure where they are going after.
  6. Have you noticed the new KIA and some of the Hyundai models? They look shockingly similar to the new EuroFords.
  7. Not to be a downer but I think this is the path Ford wishes to take. A more Global company. If you look at their Google Plus posts they are mainly European based. They even ran a Raptor at a German high speed test track.
  8. Are you south of the border dealerships having issues with OASIS and SLTS, or is it just us Canucks?
  9. Installation of IE10 has been offered to me by a recent windows update, which I graciously declined. Anyone here going to be the ginnypig and test it out with INFORD? Sorry to say I am not that brave.
  10. Sounds like a train wreck on the diesel option. Looks like it has it's own door but can't be opened with the driver's door closed. Wonder how that's gonna work when it's raining out. Keeping the driver's door open during fueling has to be a safety issue I would think.
  11. I suspect the back half is most likely of typical frame construction and materials. Looks like the cab is just welded to it instead of bolted.
  12. As diesel techs it is imparative that we keep fuel systems clean, which means capping everything. After one use of those cheap ass red caps that Ford gave us for the 6.4L I decided to find better ones. Turns out the screw on type on replacement injectors are the way to go. So after many injector replacements, 20 to be exact, I had a nice collection of fuel system caps. Today I started to tear out said 6.4L for bedplates and went to grab my container of precious plastic caps, only to find them gone. Why on GOD'S green earth would some one have the nerve to take them, or have the highest level of stupidity to throw out something on a mechanics bench, when everyone in this dealership has been told to stay away from our benches, is beyond me. Nice way to start out the week.
  13. Because they either 1: expect it to all be warranty or 2: they spent all their money on the car and have no more left, because thay are not a high roller, just like to play the game.
  14. Given the size of the engine I don't think there would be the need for cab removal. It would be nice to see some pics of the engine bay though. I used to drive the older GMC Forward with the little Isuzu 4cyl turbo diesel, that was a tilt cab, real nice to get at the engine. To bad they couldn't do that with this one.
  15. One of us is running Windows 7 Home and I run Pro. There seems to be no difference as far as IDS goes. They both run IDS good. If you are going with the VCM 2 wireless, make sure there are no 3rd party wireless managers installed. You will have nothing but problems connecting if you have one installed.
  16. Your welcome. BTW it's nice to put a voice to the name. When they told me it was Brad Clayton, I was thinking I know that name, but couldn't think of where from. Currently in my bay is 1 of 2 2009 F350's 6.4L that needs engine removal. This one get bed plates. The other, bed plates and head gaskets.
  17. I perfer to do engine removals with the cab on and lifted in the front about 4 inches.
  18. I have also seen an intake manifold crack where the alternator mounting is. Get it hot enough and it would whistle under full boost.
  19. I have seen one do that and was leaking oil. No running concerns or abnormal vibrations. Not sure on what trans was in it though.
  20. 2004 F350 Ambulance, did head gaskets on it awhile ago, and 500KM later the valves decided to stick and break some rockers. Both heads are coming off for some rebuilding. Vehicle only has 35000 km on it, but your guess is as good as mine as to what the hours are. These things are site vehicles, so they idle all day, everyday.
  21. Still need a big ass torque wrench to do them. Especially the 6.4L.
  22. Both new complete 6.7l engines that I have done had absolutely no traces of oil anywhere. You would think that if they used enough oil to assemble it that there would be something in the pan, not these. Even the oil filter, that I had to remove to install the engine, had no oil on the oring. Hotline said this is normal and the cranking needed to get the HPFP bled was enough tp prelube the engine. WTF??????
  23. FWIW..and you may already know this. You can loosen off the fuel lines, belt, fan difuser and EGR cooler clamp, all the intake bolts and lift the intake high enoung to get at that big oring without removing the turbo. Saves a ton of time. I forgot to put that oring in once, thats how I know.
  24. Pull the lower CAC tube off the cooler and check how much water/oil comes out. Depending on build date there was a TSB to replace the CAC with a redesigned one. They added more baffles to prevent the oil/water making it's way to the intake. Sometimes just draining them helps.
  25. That is why I clean and dry those areas, then inspect with a flash light. It's crazy the stuff that settles in there. I dropped my 10mm 1/4 drive socket down the intake portion of the 6.7l valve cover once. It made all the way down to the valves. Thankfully it was on the engine I was removing for replacement.
