  1. I think you would have an easier time repairing the 5sp versus swapping in the 6sp. Too many variables to consider. (input shafts, clutches, hydraulics, bell housing, transmission length, tranny mount position, shift lever position)
  2. Someone being careless the last time it was apart would be my guess.
  3. I still think most "Reality T.V. is scripted and the people are screened." Even Big Brother and The Amazing Race have people that choose who gets on the show. Good to hear you are feeling better.
  4. Yesterday my son got his learner's permit. We went out on some empty streets in a business park for 3 hours. He is pretty stoked to be able to drive.
  5. I don't think I will risk buying something preloaded with 8 and put 7 on it. Even though it sounds like a good idea, and I do think I could do it, you typically don't get driver discs with preloaded systems. The last 2 upgrades I did on my XP machine, Mother board, graphics card and CPU, You get the driver discs in the boxes. Easy peasy to do a format and fresh install when you have it all on a disc, especially with XP. I hate going to the internet looking for updated drivers, even on the company sites. I may have to bite the bullet and try to get a lower costing custom build. We have a lot of computer shops here, so no issues there. Just a lot of shop/compare to do.
  6. It was actually easier to torque the head bolts with them at eye level.
  7. I have a few under my belt and don't mind them so much anymore. You get used to them, just like when the 6L first showed up and the same with the 6.4L. As far as the tank shield, there is a labour op for taking it off to lift the truck. Most trucks I can hit the front leaf spring mount with my hoist, so it's not so much an issue with me.
  8. I am looking at getting a new home computer. Planning on buying a mild gaming pre built unit because it is cheaper than doing a custom build. All I can find for decent systems are preloaded with Windows 8, anything with 7 is either old stock or crap. Anyone have any experience with Windows 8? I have heard it is more tailored for touch screen systems, but I don't want to do that. Thoughts?
  9. You have to take off the doors. The bolts going into the side of the dash are over a foot long. 1 bolt at each hinge and 2 connectors and the door lifts off nicely.
  10. At 6 foot 4 and a bit, I might have you beat. Slightly.
  11. Back for head gaskets.....I think I will be removing the wheels and putting it on blocks.
  12. I have had a few like that but never figured out what was in the tank until now. Thanks for the info. Customers almost always play dumb, especially fleet drivers. I think they get the bill if it proven to be their fault.
  13. Didn't see any option to reset, only to disable/enable.
  14. 2009 F450, 38000 Kms. Oil leaks galore: front crank seal, CMP sensor, bed plates, and flakey crank bearings.
  15. Have a 2012 F550 6.7L in my bay and decided to have a look. They are in personality Engine hours and Engine Idle hours. Listed options are Enabled and Disabled. So does one have to toggle between the two to reset to zero?
  16. 2012 F550 with water in the rear tank. Every time I get one of these, they say "We never get poor fuel, all our trucks go to the same place." So why do they constantly come in like this? The occasional one comes in with an obvious leak into the tank through the vent, but not all. Time to pay the piper on this one I guess.
  17. I have never seen a block heater come as standard equipment. The sales department here has to add it to every vehicle they order, unless the customer states not to.
  18. It's an '06 so it has a Torqshift, not a 4R100. This means the TR sensor is internal, and requires manual lever removal to replace if I'm not mistaken. What may I ask is the reason for replacement? Replaced for range performance codes. Only bitch I have with these is the one roll pin in the case. Pisses me off each and every time I do one.
  19. Typically the oil cooler orings would either have an external oil leak or push oil into the coolant. It could leak coolant into the oil when sitting, but you would mostly get oil in the coolant first. I second the cylinder wall cavitation.
  20. It's pretty common. Every now and again the wife's will have no sound at all until you shut the car off and restart it. Don't have the time to get it in at the moment, she can't drive a standard so we don't swap cars. Good thing Ford upped the coverage on those things.
  21. 2012 F350 with only 44,000 KM. Guess who gets to buy a turbo. The air filter was soaked.
  22. Just checked on this 2008 F450 6.4L. The hours are in the cluster, but I found no way to reset them.
  23. On the 6.7L you can clear Oil Service Counter. I found nothing for engine hours on a 6.7L or 6.4L IDS session. Unless it is in a different module, but I am pretty sure it is stored in the PCM.
