  1. I told the customer I wouldn't recommend it for the reasons I mentioned earlier. Apparently they already put it in and now there bringing it in to have me drain the tank and replace the filters. Lots of good info, thanks Joe.
  2. Would of been better if they stuck with the old design, where the hose was separate. Much easier.
  3. Had a customer call up and ask me what could happen if they ran biodiesel. I'm not really sure other than possible OC and DPF damage? Fuel system damage? Any thoughts?
  4. Pulling a dash out of a 14 f450 ambulance. Screw sitting in top tray fell down the defrost binding up the mode door intermittently. 13 F450 6.8 gas, failed cam followers, wiped the cam and broken valve tip and yes its the right cylinder head. 13 f250 10.5 axle complete rebuild, water in the housing. 03 7.3 fuel lift pump 2 more 6.0 ambulance sitting outside for diag.
  5. I drove it a couple more times just to see if any problems came up, all was good and shipped it.
  6. Pulled it off already, didn't see anything obvious, moves freely, not a lot of soot build up. Reminds me of the P2263 code on the 6.4.
  7. Have a 14 f450 box truck in for check engine light. CMDTC p2201, p2073 and p04DB stored. Threw in a oil separator for the failed ccv sensor and new air filter for the p2073(dirty aftermarket air filter with the maf sensor clip jammed between the lid and lower box). Drove and retest, everything ok except every time I run koer test it throws a p2457 cooler performance. Runs ok and has good power, passes pinpoint test az. Pulled egr pipe and cooler is nice and clean, does not set a p0401 in continuous memory. Anybody run in to this one yet? Egr valve?
  8. Absolutely get them if you have the chance. I use them constantly. Get the frame adapters too if you can, they're a little over 3000 bucks for the pair but you can use them to pull cabs.
  9. I have a truck in here with a little over 100k. Customer saying blows white smoke every so often. It was in 6 months ago for same issue with no codes and saying oil over full. Verified oil ok, no fuel contamination. I drove 30 miles last time, checked dpf pids, maf sensor, nothing found. Customer took the vehicle, now its back with same complaint and he thinks its taking too long to complete regens. Distance since last regen complete and request look ok. Has a p246c stored only, run through the pinpoint test and find nothing wrong. Drove it 50-60 miles with out issue, dpf pressure pid reading .13 at idle can states clean. Ran a manual regen and completes. While road testing under wide open throttle, dpf state reading clean. Has anybody replaced dpf for this code alone unlike tsb 12-06-08 stating to replace only if p246c and p2463 stored? Is there a way to determine if the OC is working properly or if its not lighting off and burning fuel properly? Its an 08 by the way and pcm level is current.
  10. I had 2 on the right side from a truck last week and finished the other one with the left manifold yesterday. Welding on the studs can be tricky, I kept on welding the broken stud to the head and would have to grind it back out and start over. Finally got it but my patients was running thin.
  11. Doing 6.4 driver side manifold right now with both rear bolts snapped off. Man I hate doing these.
  12. You have to drive it, that's only way I have had the code clear when the message is on the instrument cluster.
  13. Yeah, another parts guy found it. 359.00 bucks.
  14. Don't know the year but it was a super duty. Its the solenoid in the turbo pedestal. Checked again with parts and it only shows that it comes with the pedestal?
  15. Had a customer come in with a broken connector on ebpv solenoid. Parts guy asking me if can get separate from pedestal assembly, I really don't know, never came across a problem with one. Theres no listing. Is it possible to get or does the whole pedestal have to be replaced?
  16. In the middle of one right now. Truck had a turbo failure, sent oil down the exhaust. Another tech put in the turbo, contacted hotline to see if entire exhaust should be replaced due to contamination. Hotline replied with telling him to remove assembly and stand on end to drain oil for 24 hours and perform multiple regens. He has done as directed, this thing smoked out half the dealer parking lot for the better half of the day before it finally cleaned up. Performed scr drive cycle, retested, came back clear and shipped it. Came back a few days later with p207f, he ran the pinpoint test and threw a nox sensor at it. He went on vacation and now its back with same code. The only thing I confirmed was a def injector leak after running leak test multiple times back to back. It would pass the dosing test every time but when I let it sit under pressure running the leak test you would start to see it seep and if I wiped my finger across it, it would be wet. Replaced the injector, reset everything and did scr drive cycle. I put 40 miles on it and retest, p207f didn't return but now has p020ee or whatever the code is for scr efficiency. I'm calling bullshit on ford hotline claim of draining and doing manual regens. Waiting to throw assembly on and see what happens. Ford claims the 6.7 doc, dpc, scr assembly is a lot more robust compared to the 6.4 but I don't see how it could still work efficiently when its coked up with oil. This is only the second time I have had to diagnose this code and its going about as well as the first time. Its seems like nobody has any luck with it.
  17. Did rotunda ever make a 7.3 injector kill box?
  18. Well, pulled the pcm and found a banks ottomind chip in the back. Removed it and drove the truck, truck has decent power but still sets, odd contribution test faults. Going to see if pcm can be tested and repaired.
  19. Haven't had time to look at(just had a baby, taking some time off). The vref issue does sound like possibility. I forgot to mention when the truck occasionally dies after contribution test, it will not restart unless i cycle the key.
  20. Tear tag on pcm is MLE1, build data says MLE0. When viewing the pids it displays automatic transmission pids commanded gear, tss, tcc etc. Wouldn't think those pids would be displayed in a manual trans. truck. Wondering if has junk yard pcm, truck has junk yard steering column from an automatic.
  21. Customer had this truck at independent, engine was removed for an oil pan. Its an old farm truck, manual transmission. Says has no power, found map sensor hose hanging off, replaced that and drove. Truck does feel sluggish, its hard to tell being as old as it is and a manual trans. Has ebp codes and plugged up sensor and tube. Checked fuel pressure at regulator, have 60 psi at idle, it dropped to 25 at wot. Pulled apart regulator and found screens plugged up. Replaced regulator and now have 45 psi wot. Checked inlet restricton, less than 6 in. Truck starts ok but has blue/ white smoke when revving, ran cylinder contribution and flags 6 or even 7 cylinders, starts rolling blue/white smoke during contribution test. During test I also got a p003c solenoid 1-2 shift open/short and p0068 tp sensor a inconsistent with maf/map. If I run the test multiple times I will get a p00fa no description found and sometimes sets a p1000. Never seen this before, not really sure where to go. Swapped cam sensor, icp sensor was replaced, did a compression test and all cylinders are between 400 and 425 psi. At idle mfdes. is .17-.18 and ipr at 12.89%. Customer requested to have glow plugs replaced and ebp sensor replaced. Koer self -test will pass, sometimes truck dies and throws a p0603 power interrupt code. Never come across the codes during a contribution test, codes are not even listed in pc/ed. Anybody have any insight? Possible pcm issue?
  22. I've done between 5 and 10, only had one repeat so far.
  23. The spec. on 6.4 was anything above 10 or below -10. I haven't seen anything about specs. for 6.7 but I do remember pinpoint test simply tells you to compare to other cylinders and see if one Is way out relative to the others.
  24. Even better... Try and convince him that those kits do absolutely jack shit for any kind of noticeable performance.
