I think eventually they will get help from the government, wether it is next month or after Obama is president. I bet that within 20 months of getting money from the government, GM will be asking for more money. I think Ford is doing the best of the 3 US auto makers. I'm a little depressed that there are so many stores and companies that are going out of buisness. I hear we might get another economic stimulious package, but where is that money coming from? Lets face it. This country is broke. But then every time there is a sunami, earthquake, or any other natural disaster we send people and money to help. How about all the money we spend on helping illegal aliens. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banghead.gif But as far as the auto companies are concerned, I'm a little bit worried, but with all the cars and truck on the roads, as long as we can fix them, well be OK. Were living in tough times, but its not going to last forever. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/2cents.gif

So you have never verified this problem and there are no dtcs? Here is a silly question to ask the customer... "Do you have to re-start the vehicle when it stalls? " It might sound crazy, but I have dealt with customers that claim the vehicle stalls and it actually has a miss or a trans problem. Good luck with this one.

I used to work with a guy that had the dash of an Explorer out of a vehicle and on his workbench looking for a open wire. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/hahaha.gif The only thing wrong with the truck is that it was missing a fuse. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/tomato.gif

I would say that that is impossible to argue. We aren't supposed to take these things apart, and if we do, they will probably bounce the claim because of that. If you make the customer pay for this repair will he ever buy another Ford product agian?

Nothing agianst Mikey T, but unless you were asking him about where is a good place to eat, I don't think his opinion is all that great. Where I work he is known as "the guy with the really big pants" . That reminds me. Today is my 1 year anniversery. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cheers.gif To be honest, I hope the new diesel engines arent perfect. We would loose a lot of work if all of the 6.0Ls suddenly disappeared. If there was a replacement engine that never broke, that would put all of us in a bad situation. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/2cents.gif

+1 Anyone here ever get a house built? Mike, you sound pissed. Did you get stuck doing 6.0L headgaskets in chassis? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif Nobody is perfect, but there is a difference beetween making a mistake and just not giving a !@#$. That is what your story sounds like. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/2cents.gif

Removing the body would be the best way to do this job. If you put those stabilizers down, the truck isn't going anywhere. I'm not one to argue with a dealer owner though. +1 on the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/drinkingdude.gif

If I need to install upfitter switches on a 2008 F-Series that did not come with them from the factory, will I need to get anything else besides the switch? Is the wiring, fuses, relays in the vehicle already? Thanks in advance.

Well I got paid the entire 2.6 hrs on the MKS. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbup.gif I had a Focus yesterday that had a SYNC problem. The USB drive was not working, DTC 1342(faulty microprocessor) in the APIM. There is a actually a tsb that adresses this. Its a re-program and you need to use the USB port to re-program the APIM. Didn't work. Its getting a new APIM. A guy at hotline said that if I could clear the 1342, then I would probably be able to program it, but because I could not clear the dtc it won't work. It seems that as long as it isn't a compatibility issue, it is usally the APIM module. I am the only one here that has worked on SYNC. I now have a USB cable in my tool box and bring my MP3 player to work everyday in case I have to fix one of these things. Oh yeah, and it is also nice to have a bluetooth compatible phone handy too.

I think this is my 3rd engine on a 6.4 now......
Mekanik replied to DieselD's topic in 6.4L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
From what I understand it can come from excessive regen or a fuel leak inside the engine like a leaking HP fuel pump, fuel rail, line or injector. But being overfilled that much, I would think it would have to be a HP fuel leak. -
Hey where is my recignition program? US dealers aren't included in this?

I just checked: Until Further Notice I was just wondering if someone had some "inside information".

Any word when Ford will have this fixed?
-
I had a 94 or 95 Continental that was doing this exact thing a long long time ago. The am radio was fine at a stop, but there was excessive static when the car was moving. Rotating the tires ended up fixing the problem. You might want to check all of your grounds and maybe try installing a redundant ground on the radio.

That sounds good right now. But we all make a living on fixing these fine pieces of machinery. Sure, if ford built a very reliable diesel engine the customer would be really happy and Dave's back would feel better, but that would leave a lot of us with even less work coming in the door. We should be careful what we wish for.

My advice is to see a chiropractor . I'm not sure where you live, but I used to see one in Lake Zurich. I can PM you if you are interested. I hope your back feels better soon.

Ford not International huh? I'm not sure if this is good or bad. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/coffee.gif

I was talking to a customer about this on Friday. I think I heard that the 6.4L would be replaced be 6.7L? in a few years. What has everyone else heard?

I do my best to help others that help me. I usally get a hotline engineer that wants to help and usally has some good info. I am a very positive person though. I have noticed that when someone calls and acts like a jerk. Like the hotline engineer is the one that broke the car, they don't get as good help. I usally email them, or sometimes call back to let them know what I found.

Well it wasn't me... And it was a long time ago. I used to work with the guy. I think he did talk to another cop in that dept. about what he found and they told him to do whatever he wanted with it. He tossed the bag of "white stuff" , gave the weed to a porter and kept the cash. he had enough to buy lunch for the shop and buy a microvave oven. That is how long ago this happened. He told me that after this happened, every squad car that he worked on, had the rear seat removed.

How much would $55.75 be worth after taxes? Don't you canadians pay even more tax then we do?

Scott, I had one too. If you follow the tsb regarding fuel in oil and go through the diag, it just stops. What I did was drain the oil so it was in the operating range, marked the stick and then had my manager drive the truck really hard for 20 miles. I checked the dipstick and it was definately producing oil. After I checked the injectors and the HP lines I put a HP pump in it. The tsb dosen't mention that, and you won't see it leak. Of course when I got done, I had it driven hard for another 20 miles to verify that the oil level didn't rise.
