What would you guys do if you happened to remove the lower seat cushion of a police car and found a large amount of cash, a bag of weed and a bag of "white powder" ? Just curious?

I was working in a place once where managment baited a vehicle with money. It was a porter that had the marked money in his pocket and lost his job. I would never ever take money or anything else from a customers vehicle.

Stupid question... You say your fuel pressure is at 50psi. I'm assuming that is at WOT going down the road? Is there any smoke out the tailpipe? Crankcase pressure?

Seriously - WTF is with these Re-mans?
Mekanik replied to DamageINC's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
The worst part about it is that it is going into an ambulance. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smhair.gif Seriously, thats really fucked up. -
1,500 sq. foot house anywhere from $650,000 - $850,000. That is obnoxious. I bet you spend a fortune to heat that house with temps in the -20f to -40f.

4F50N on a yo-yo string
Mekanik replied to Brad Clayton's topic in Driveline: Transmissions, Clutches and Axles
Brad, That makes me never want to sell a re-man trans agian. Things like this happen from time to time. One time I replaced 3 injector pumps on a 7.3L IDI till I got one that would work. -
6.4L Torque Adapter Kit
Mekanik replied to Keith Browning's topic in Tools, Computers and the Internet
I think I might buy the kit. With the tool certificates I have it will only set me back $47.00. If by chance I never use it, then that would be really cool! -
6.0 Long block - possible crank sensor ring issue?
Mekanik replied to DamageINC's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
I might spend a little time poking and prodding, but in the end I would replace the harness. After it is out of the vehicle, it would be nice to take a closer look and find a smoking gun. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/borgsmile-1.gif -

I'm glad I could help. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cheers.gif -
If it runs good when it fires up, I would consider it to be normal. The true test wilol be in a few months, sitting overnight in the icy tundra.

06 f-550 low pressure oil pump
Mekanik replied to Hempstead's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
I have had a really hard time getting the front cover on a short block once. Make sure the 2 dowwels are in place, and there isn't a "extra" dowwel stuck in the front cover first of all. What I ended up doing is installing the front cover with all the bolts loose, and then putting the oil pump gears in the front cover. Then I torqued everything to specs. The first time I did it, I already torqued the front cover bolts and then went to put the oil pump gears in and they did not want to fit. I hope this helps. -
I agree. Thats a bunch of garbage. We did a lot of retail parts sales at my last shop. The parts guys at that counter were always sending someone to see me, so I could tell him what is wrong with his truck or how to get something apart or back together. The worst part about it was we didn't have enoyugh work for us to do, but these people really expect me to tell some customer how to do my job. It would really piss me off when our S/M would lend out a special tool to a "really great" customer. Thats taking money right out of my pocket.

That dosen't sound like a good friendship. I rarely do side work. If I do take a side job, it is usally something small. When I am not at work, I am a father and a husband. Other than waking up early to workout, I don't have much time for anything else. Sometimes I try to help out a friend or relative. I have been taken advantage of and I really hate that. My neighbor kid crashed her car a couple years ago. I told her dad(my neighbor) that I would "help" him fix it. That turned into that fucking car in my driveway for a month while I had to deal with several aftermarket part companies to get parts at a cheap price to help them out and save some money for them. Then I ended up fixing it myself while I was on vacation.

The $20.00 bucks was nice. Well actually my wife needed it, but I would have rather this guy wrote a letter to the owner telling him that I did a good job or that I went out of my way for him. We call those "Hero Points" around here. Last winter, I helped a customer, by clearing a dtc and then tightening his gas cap, and explaining that it could turn his MIL lamp on if it isn't tight. A couple weeks later, one of the salesmen thanked me. The customer just happens to be one of the owner's good friends and was really impressed with me. That ment so much more than $20.00. I also did get paid on an internal ticket to turn the MIL light off.

Really? I thought "just black" was the only way guys like us drink coffee?

What would you do if a customer tried to give you a tip for doing a really good job? Would you take it or would you refuse? I took a $20.00 tip from a customer this morning. Every dealership has one of these guys. Really, really , really anal. I get to work on his truck. It just so happens that I'm pretty anal too. Anyway, I went out of my way to show him the bad tie rod on his truck. Something probably no one else has done here. He puts a $20.00 bill on my tool box and tells me to do an "extra" good job. I'm like, "Sir, you don't need to do that. " But he insists and walks away. I was in this situation two years ago, and I said thank you. But after the customer left, I put the money in his ashtray. This was the first time that I actually took a tip since I have been a journeyman tech. What would you guys do in this situation? I'm curious.

LMAO!!! Thats good stuff.

Have you guys had to fix any SYNC problems? I had my second one in two weeks. The one last week turned out to be a bad AIPM module. The USB port was inop. The customer's MP3 playey wouldn't work. I unplugged the AIPM and then it worked fine for one day and stopped working again. The new AIPM fixed it. The one I got yesterday, the phone would "SYNC", but if you waited an hour, it wouldn't work. You would make a call and it would wait about five seconds and say "call failed". The customer also said that the voice command would not work either. I ended up taking the owner's manual home to read last night, just so I know how to operate this system. This morning I SYNC'd my phone in addition to the customer's. My phone would work, but not the customer's. Thier's was not on the list of phones that have been tested by Ford. After calling hotline and then trying to SYNC both phones to a new Lincoln MKS, I was able to say for sure that the customer's phone is not compatible. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banghead.gif It only took me 2.6hrs. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbup.gif I feel like I should be working for "Geek Squad" these last few weeks. Has anyone else here had to work on the SYNC system?

Dead Heading 03' Injection pumps

It is, but even when the IPR is totally closed there will be some air leaking out of that hole. -
Dead Heading 03' Injection pumps
Mekanik replied to DwayneGorniak's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
There is a little hole on the back of the pump that a little air always leaks out of. I usally put my finger over it for a few seconds, while I listen for a leak. Can you pinpoint exactly where the air is coming from? Did you happen to replace the oil cooler too? -
I'm with you Tony, but sometimes raising the body is not an option. Getting those bolts tightened properly is the hardest part of that repair. I cant remember if I pulled the evaporator case or not. Either way, it was really tight. I even removed that silver padding on the firewall, so it does not get destroyed.

LMAO!!! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif

What could cause low compression after headgaskets
Mekanik replied to Mekanik's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
Tony, The dowel is in the front of the crank dampner beetween two of the four bolts. This truck started really hard and then ran like total crap right away. We all knew something was wrong right away. -
Or maybe a little less of this: /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/drinkingdude.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cheers.gif
