Will the problem happen with the EGR valve manually closed? I'm going to assume that the fuel supply is free of air bubbles. I have seen injectors cause this. We had one doing this and we found that when unplugging the injector it would not drop on the power balance test because it was leaking and still supplying fuel to the cylinder. -
Hey no offense, but it gets to a point where you just need to take the thing apart and fix it. Is it a bedplate or a front cover leak? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/shrug.gif If you re-seal the bedplate, you'll be replacing the front cover gasket too. You will have the engine on a stand and be able to get a much better view. I know that nobody enjoys doing bedplates and pulling engines out of ambulances, but you lost a day and a half just diagnossing an oil leak. Thats worth .5hr.

There wasn't any dust on it. it was a brand new box. You see, I used up the last of our CVT fluid 2 weeks ago when I had another one apart. I was talking to one of the younger guys yesterday and he told me that he just did a trans. service in a CVT the day before. So obviously we didn't have a problem getting fluid for that one either. Well after I got my service Writer involved, they were able to find an entire case of this stuff in back.

My parts guys are telling me that they can not get any CVT trans fluid. Has anyone else recently run into this and if so, how are you getting it. Is there a acceptable aftermarket equivalent out there? I'm pulling out another CVT as I type this.

Well this makes me feel really good right now. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/puke.gif I recently did two of theese. Maybe they should come out with a little wedge to put in the connector like the 7.3L UVC harness. -
This is actually very important, and I try to do it after doing any hydraulic ABS repair. If there was air in the HCU, the next time the customer makes a ABS stop, the pedal will go right to the floor and the vehicle won't stop. A Ford instructor was telling us about this and mentioned that on one particular vehicle ( I think it was a contour) there was no ABS bleed procedure and suggested what Jim mentioned. The actual function of the ABS motor is to re-supply the hydraulic system with brake fluid so it can make another stop.

Are you sure you tightened all of your intake and CAC clamps? I don't mean to insult you, but I have seen it before. If you have any air or exaust leaks, you will have problems with an early build and the later calibration. Did you look to see if the unison ring in the turbo cracked? Perform the re-learn procedure as previously mentioned. FWIW, I always tighten those CAC clamps to 108 in/lbs. Its tighter than it sounds.

The electrical junction that is mounted on the back of the left valve cover on 6.0L Econolines. Sometimes they break. We can't seem to be able to find the part number. Any help?

Thare is actually a law agianst car dealers in Illinois selling cars on Sundays. The owner of my dealer was actually one of the people that pushed the law and helped make it happen. I agree with what you are saying Keith, but the way they see it is that they might be losing some buisness to other places that have more convinient hours to customers. If you let the customer decide to bring in his vehicle whenever he wants you will have a total mess like the place I left last year. The place would be totally dead all day long, and then there would be a rush of people coming in the door at 5:00-6:00pm wanting to wait for thier car to get fixed. You stood around all afternoon doing nothing. Do you go home and be the "Bad Guy" for turning down work or do you stay until 8:00pm and get home after your kids are in bed?

Ha-ha. I'll try to stay out of Barrington. Just in case they do have an ambulance with a leaking branch tube. -
I thinks that where the problem is. I needed the part beetween the inner pinnion race and the case. I needed a FOTZ-3070-A. The part that they kept getting me was the slinger that goes beetween the outer pinnion bearing and the pinnion seal. It is interesting to note that 06 and later does not require this part because the lube passage is different. If I replaced the axle housing, I wouldn't need this part. I'm glad that problem is solved. It's time to move on to other problems... /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/coffee.gif

+1 I actually had a Ford Instructor suggest this to me. You probably won't have to mess with the engine mount. A 7.3l ambulance should be much easier to work on than a 6.0l ambulance or little bus. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/2cents.gif -

I'm rebuilding the front axle in a 2003 mountaineer. The part number on the axle tag is: 1L2 3002 DH. There is an oil baffle that is located right behind the inner pinnion bearing cup. It got a little mangled when I was removing the inner bearing race. It looks like a shim and I cant seem to get the right part. My parts guy keeps getting the oil slinger that goes beetween the pinnoon seal and the outer pinnion bearing. Anybody else run into this and have the correct part number?

Thats really good to know. I broke one of those too a few months ago while I was leaning over the radiator relacing an EGR cooler. I'm really careful and I do a good job, but lets face it. Thats a great idea desiging a engine that could have a failure and still run. Do you think they think of this stuff when they are desiging airplanes? I have thought for years that if modern day gas engines had a redundant fuel pump they would be so much more reliable. Well I guess electric fuel pumps have gotten better over the last few years.
