Bruce this may sound a little redundant but has your guy taken a look at the lift/transfer pump on these trucks. I was in the "oval" office and thinking about this, no one even brought it up. Has he dropped the cover off of the module and checked the heater? I have seen a bunch of these get Goobered up, and it just looks like they melted a candle inside. By the way I will give up some time and go down there with Aaron to help out. But the wife stays here. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbup.gif

Fuel additives/delamination??
LARRY BRUDZYNSKI replied to LARRY BRUDZYNSKI's topic in Fuels - Oils - Additives - Chemicals
This kinda sucks all of us here and we don't seem to be any closer than we were when the Delam. problem started. I figured we might have a direction to be looking at by now. -

Is Toyota Trying to Steal Some of Our Customers?

Well Jim figure it this way we have alot of young bucks here with us and this could be educating them. My first marriage I had a trophy wife but that only lasted 13 years. Now I have a nice wife and am much happier so far...(she's not to bad looking either)But I have learned much so far, and still alot to learn... -
Quote: 6 new injectors later, it still wouldn't start, and then we found all of the intake valves hung in the guides and several piston rings stuck in the grooves. I've had him soak the holes really well with carb cleaner in an attempt to get this thing going without disassembling the engine, but I'm not so confident that won't happen now. Bruce you have me scratching my head /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/scratchhead.gif I have read all the posts over and over again, this almost sounds like "lot rot" It may be from the engines never getting up to temp and not enough load for them. The pics of the injector broken down, the injector tip looks like a lot of carbon build up, not necessarily contamination. It obviously has fuel quality concerns, Does he use any additives? Lubricity/Cetane boost, do you see where I'm going with this?

Shame on the last dealer that touched this truck
LARRY BRUDZYNSKI replied to Tony302600's topic in The Water Cooler
The way I look at these types of things may be a little different but the same. I had once upon a time, bout a million years ago a owner of the Bike shop I was working at(Ruttmans Yamaha)come to me when I had first started at the dealer. He gave me this little bit of advise and I use it everyday. As quoted(Jim Ruttman)"Larry you are young and don't know everything you will need in life, that will come in time. You will however not make mistakes, you will infact Fuck up. Learn from the times that you do and try not to Fuck up the same way twice" And it is something that I tell all the young guy's coming in and hopefully they will instill this on others as they learn from their Fuck ups!!! -

Any chance of getting a o'ring pick up there to get it out?

Bruce everyone is looking at fuel...What about the oil??? Quote: Truck #2 has considerable oil sludge under the valve cover. Quote: I had him pull and disassemble the injectors to find crud in the fuel galleys Was this the fuel galleys or oil? How about pressure at the filter? Was it building pressure or just flowing(like the 7.3 thread we have going now). What about the bypass/regulator?

I never had gotten anything in writing from Motor City when I hired on(My bad). I came in never having sold a Ford part before, maybe I was just misinformed. I was told it would be easy to pickup the Ford parts system, Yeah it was pretty easy, but then they thru Sterling.Freightliner,Bendix,Horton, about 200 different manufacturers that we deal with all having different systems and part # systems. I don't ever back down from a challenge so I'm here and I like it. It's something different everyday..... BUT then comes 5 years down the road and I'm still making the same, so on and on goes and here I am at Superior Turbo and Injection. Doing again something different but the same. DON'T BE AFRAID OF CHANGE!!! EMBRACE IT!!! KEEP JUST BETWEEN US I was offered(don't tell your parts mongers) $22.00 a hour to start. I feel like I have a union job again!!! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/king.gif

Quote: Full size Japanese trucks? They aren't a joke..... they're a wake-up call.... Jim I think you have the quote for the new year...We all need to wake up and be better than we ever have because the Toyota,Honda, xyz imports are coming and aren't going to stop... that's why we are all here to help each other be better at what we do, and more proficiently at it. The better we get the quicker turn around time the truck is down and the more return sales the front office has. And the longer we all have jobs. -

Funny you should bring up the exhaust pipe size... Back about a million years ago when I was at the Honda dealer we had brought up the same subject with the Civic cvcc cars. We had a couple of guys running the road courses( scca ) with these and we asked them about putting on larger exhausts. There response was that the exhaust at that time( I don't know about now ) didn't have enough flow by the time it got to the end of the exhaust( to cool ) in order to keep it flowing they said it was more effiencent to keep the pipe smaller and thicker to keep the heat up and moving the exhaust out. Almost like any of us that has wrapped up headers to keep the heat inside the tubes. It just moves faster with more heat. Maybe it's still the same I don't know??? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/scratchhead.gif -
