7.3 Piston Myth
LARRY BRUDZYNSKI replied to FordMastertech's topic in 7.3L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
It could be done but you are correct the crank has to come out and is basically useless to do in the truck. Just pull the engine and do it the right way. It's a lot more work to try to do it that way and makes no sense... /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/icon_crazy.gif -
Some companies are like that...

So has anybody had a 6.4 in with mods that Mother(Ford) has gotten interested with or has it been the same as the 6.0. We bitch about mods but don't do anything about them?

Has anybody ran into a Delam. problem because of any additives added to the fuel??? I know that we have with the Bio-goo but I haven't seen anything posted about additives. I was online earlier and found quite a lot of manufacturers that offer additives for diesel. Do you think that they have testing that will cover the different O.E.'s and compensate for this problem?

Cummins 5.9 question
LARRY BRUDZYNSKI replied to eastendpowerstroke's topic in General Diesel Engines
As to a comment you made, this truck is definitley not a Dodge. I have a guy that works in our Fuel injection shop that is still working for Cummins but works for us as well... I think you need to see his bumper sticker that's affixed to his truck, by the way a Dodge... Quote: Dodge builds it Cummins shakes it Words to live by... It could be the same interpitation that we have with Nav. sorry International Harvester. It doesn't matter what we work on if it drinks diesel and blows smoke we are all into it up to our eyebrows. Compression ignition what a beautiful thing!!! How about a sticker on a F350-F/whatever that says the same thing about Navistar???? -
That totally sucks, I think I can say this freely that we all feel bad that you get screwed both the day before and the day after. Sorry Aaron.... /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/shrug.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cheers.gif I had the same thing when I was at Motor City Ford. Got screwed all the time. Owner/Dp to damn greedy. Don't have that here at Superior but Monday is unpaid, that's okay for me a 4 day weekend(priceless) Sorry man!!!

What's Inside a DPF?
LARRY BRUDZYNSKI replied to Bruce Amacker's topic in 6.4L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
Bruce when I went to the Cummins dog and pony show about the new DPF's they had a cutaway and looked pretty close to what you have the only difference is that the Cummins one is in sections for service with Marmon clamps holding it together. As for the filter it's the same but not cubed with partitions the way this one is. Very cool!!! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbup.gif The Cummins one has it in 3 sections 1st section sensor with catylst 2nd section tube with sensor 3rd section DPF with sensor Very serviceable... Wait a minute, I took anothor look at the cutaway is it assembled with a clamp or is it welded? BE CAREFUL I HAD SOME FUN WITH IT AND CAUGHT A LITTLE FLACK... Quote: P.P.S. Hey, look at that! My ratings say I'm a frigging genius now! -
high diesel numbers
LARRY BRUDZYNSKI replied to tecanic1's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
Sorry, I don't mean to hi-jack the thread... But I have a question and I think that all you guy's hear could probably clear it up. When you have a injector loose a seal and start putting combustion chamber gases up the side, why do you have to replace them all? Does it contaminate the whole bank of 4 or is it just a precaution? The reason for my question is that we have had a few warranty issues on the 6.0 injectors recently, and we are currently trying to establish the reason for the failure. -
10 Days??? Oh yeah you guy's to the north get that Hallmark holiday, oh what's it called oh yeah Boxing day. I'll be happy having the next 4 days off. If it was anymore than that I don't think my liver would survive. Happy holidays to everyone and if I don't talk to you before the Holiday be safe and do everything I would... /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/drinkingdude.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cheers.gif

6.4 fuel mileage
LARRY BRUDZYNSKI replied to LARRY BRUDZYNSKI's topic in 6.4L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
Maybe I was wrong on my statement about the window stickers,( I personnally have not seen them, my bad ) but I believe the end users think that all F-series trucks should get about the same mileage. At least the one that was in my store today did. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banghead.gif I think the "salesmen" should be educating the customers a little better. I know I know salesmen don't care, they sell it we deal with it. -
Maybe Ford/Nav. needs to take a look at the Cat's and learn something about o'ring technology, they use more orings than anybody else on parts assemblies. It also amazes me as to how Cat can have #'s on everything including the o'rings.

oasis makes me look smart
LARRY BRUDZYNSKI replied to Brad Clayton's topic in Tools, Computers and the Internet
Did the other tech run a Oasis, and was the original pedal bad? -
Slim, this is the bypass valve, it is a valve the has been incorporated into the engine should the filter become plugged for some reason this will bypass the filter as to not lose oil pressure. If for some reason this valve comes free and falls out usually it happens when changing oil and is not noticed in the drain pan, then the engine will bypass the filter totally and just recirculate the dirty oil and as Keith, I think posted the pictures, has shown the oil cooler will act as the filter and eventually become plugged and in the end have no pressure and have premature wear in vital components of the engine. Which is why we have said get a price on a new engine. I'm just a parts guy but I hope I have helped you to understand what has and will happen if the bypass valve comes free and lost.

We just had one our Customer/Employee appreciations day's here at work. BBQ ribs and all the fixins. Great time. I was talking with one of our customers who just recently purchased a 08 6.4 F450. He is pissed off about only getting 5-6 mph with it. He also purchased a Superchip tuner from us(I didn't sell it, WON'T) He was voicing out about the crappy mileage it get's, after talking for a while found out he has 4.88 gears in it and also pulls a 4 place horse trailer with it. I tried to explain to him that this is a work truck and won't get decent mileage with it, but to no avail, according to him I still didn't know what I was talking about,(go figure the customer knows best, HA) I told him if he wanted mileage he should have bought a F250 instead. He didn't like my reply. I hate that the government has the est. fuel mileage on all of the stickers on the trucks, these guy's think this is gospel or something of the sort. Ford really needs to clarify this...
