  1. Quote: If you guys supply me with a barrel of Old #7, I'll gladly see that it get's emptied Actually Jim I have a old empty one in my garage, it's on the list of projects for me. I,m going to make hi-top table with it for my rec. room. No can't have it.
  2. Has anybody noticed a trend here??? There seems to be quite a few of us with kids being born around Christmas.... /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/blush.gif
  3. Quote: I have a hunch that a 6.4 launching a boat might not even submerge the DPF. Boaters? Is this correct? That's generally correct, but up to the person launching the boat as to how for they back in. Usually the rear tires will only be submerged about half way up.
  4. Quote: we have a full complement of partsmongers Yeah but good ones? No just kidding I don't think you guy's up north could afford me!!
  5. Dave did you happen to get any of the "sand" out of the tank and verify that's what it was? Sometimes rust will look a lot like sand inside of a tank. The reason I ask is that this reminds me of when I was at the Honda dealer and went thru the 84-85 86-89 Accord filler neck recall/fuel contamination. The tanks had seems like a ton of dirt but was actually rust from the filler neck, rest at the bottom of the tank and being sucked up thru the pickup and contaminating the system. Has anybody checked the necks on these trucks?
  6. Jim any Parts contracts avail. at your shop?? I don't mind the frosty nuts I can deal with the north I like the cold.
  7. I did read it.. I'm not questioning you Keith, I'm questioning techline??? Quote: Who you gonna call? The HotLine gives me the info and I completed up to PPT M17 with all tests passing. The PCED says "Replace the PCM and reflass..." but the engineer says " but that wont fix it, put a pump in it." Huh? They supposedly have seen 18+ pumps fail similar to this. Sure, why not. OFF WITH IT'S CAB! Maybe I'm missing something??? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/shrug.gif Why would the engineer tell you to replace the pump? If everything points to the PCM? You got to the correct repair but had a engineer tell you to replace the pump and basically waste your time, until you got ahold of the right engineer and in the right direction. Remember I'm just a dumb parts guy, I'm trying to learn as well, and will ask maybe stupid questions to some of you but I need to understand as well as you do, and I will ask or say off the wall stuff to you guy's, but I'm on the other side of the parts counter...
  8. I'm confused and by the way it sounds maybe you are too Keith /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/scratchhead.gif You say the PCM fixed it but you weren't convinced of the fix as per you diag. and techline conv.'s. Could this be something that techline already knew was a problem on some of the trucks but are making the techs jump thru the "hoop" like a dog does to just do the trouble shooting tree. The other thing that bothers me is why the part went D99. obviously there could be a problem with the PCM's parts don't just go b/o for no reason...
  9. Seen some but not many, I have seen them because of a few (mind you a few not all dealers to those who will slam me for this) techs either are in to big a hurry and just slap it back together or are pissed because maybe they have had to much warranty work lately and don't want to take their time and reassemble the correct way. The question I have is why did the customer go back to the same dealer 5 times for the same problem? The other question I have is your in Chicago and the end of Dec. and your driving it with the windows down for a half hour????( YOU ARE A BEAR ) We had a tech that was working on a warranty torqueshift and had to drop the trans 6 times before the customer got so far up the D/P's ass that we ate a reman just to make him go away.
  10. Obviously they have a fleet of these "short buses", has your s/writer or manager contacted them to get them all in for this contamination problem or are they going to be like most fleets and just get pissed off as it happens? And blame Ford and the 6.0 for the no start problem. Before anybody says it... I know the problems as well as anybody with the 6.0, but you can't blame this one on it. Although you may be concerned with the lack of fuel if it did damage the fuel system.
  11. I was going to reply to this one, but I figure Jim will have his way with you Keith!!! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif
  12. You may need a jar the size of a Jack Daniels whiskey barrel for this recall. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif
  13. Yeah we had the same thing but we would have our warranty retention bins in a 40 ft trailer and have each bin designated by the last # of the w/o. We would hold them for 60 days before purging them if the part was not requested back. This amount of time helped us just in case a claim was rejected for any reason and had to be resubmitted at a later date.
  14. Sounds like Ford getting ready to kick back claims... /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/shrug.gif
  15. Yeah how fitting...my daughters name...Carol Noel...Christmas all year long...
  16. Sorry Aaron I can relate to you, my daughters b-day is Dec 25th and she always has seemed to get screwed, but I try to do her b-day a week or two early to try to seperate it. As for me mine is like Jim's in July maybe thats why I'm getting as bad as him...
  17. Check this out I couln't believe it when I had seen this today in the Detroit News...http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20071226/OPINION03/712260395/1149 /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/scratchhead.gif 2008 Ford Super Duty While most of the vehicles introduced in 2007 can gracefully take the family for a Sunday drive, the Ford Super Duty trucks work through the weekend. These pickups carry America on their broad shoulders from 0-dark-thirty to closing time at the local watering hole. Super Duty trucks come in nearly countless combinations and the F-250, F-350 and the all new F-450 -- the Truckasarus of pickups -- are all capable of crushing midsize cars and towing 24,000 pounds. During the redesign, Ford made this work truck bigger, stronger and much better looking. The front end embodies the power found under the hood. Many of the features, such as telescoping mirrors and the trailer brake control system on the dash, may not impress most people. But ask someone towing a 10,000-pound horse trailer if he would want those features. Ford also listened to its customers and added a tailgate step, stowable bed extender and the best rear camera system on the road today. That system shows a driver what's behind the truck inside the rearview mirror. Ford's "tough luxury" interior packaged with its menacing good looks make the Super Duty trucks nice enough to drive to the theater and mean enough to scare tree stumps out of the ground just by parking near them. The new 6.4-liter Power Stroke diesel engine packs 650-pound-feet of torque at just 2,000 rpm. But most of all, the people who buy these trucks, use them as designed. According to Ford, nearly 90 percent of Super Duty owners tow something. And these heavy-duty trucks represent roughly 40 percent of all F-Series sales -- a whopping 250,000 this year -- making it the top-selling new or redesigned vehicle in 2007. While trucks may have lost some of their luster to smooth riding crossovers that offer utility to people who never really needed a truck, the trio of Super Duty trucks answers the call for the men and women who work as hard as they play.
  18. Did we ever figure out the cause of the failure on this turbo, I just had one come thru the door that looks just about the same. The only difference is that it looks more like cavitation or small holes on the vanes, and didn't break the pins. I have seen this only on one other turbo in my days and it was on a marine engine that had the cooling system leak into the hot side and the steam beat the hell out of the turbine wheels and housing on the hot side, but that was probably 8-9 years ago on a 8.3M300hp Cummins. Could this be possible on the vgt turbos? Oil cooler failure maybe? Could steam/coolant leaks do this type of damage on the 6.0? I will try to get some pictures and post them tomorrow....
  19. Not sure if this will work for you or not! check out this thread!! http://www.forddoctorsdts.com/forums/ubb...h=true#Post2507
  20. I'd say yes, and being the fact that the big 3 are having growing pains with the new technology that have been incorporated into the new vehicles then I would say that they will try to take advantage of our customers exploiting that fact. I just wonder how bloody expensive it will be, and don't forget the Lexus line how long before the truck gets rebadged. I think Ford and the others will be ok though being the fact that we already have these vehicles in place and have a loyal following.
  21. Yeah the hot to cold cycles, they will definitley get brittle.
  22. Gee.. let me guess you have a Offy. setup amongst the toys you own???
  23. It's the same bloody Mexicans putting tie straps to tight!!! Just kidding... I had a similar situation with ISC Cummins powered but in International chassis. When the truck went down the assembly line the OE truck harness wasn't long enough, and in the end the assemblers pulled on both harness's and which do you think gave? The engine side of course.. we had trucks coming thru with up to 18 codes at one time, Cummins/International had us chasing our tails for weeks with this problem. All the while come to find out it was the assemblers that did this,re: Internationals problem.
  24. I new there was something wrong about you Jim, Montreal come on...You might as well be from Quebec. Go RED WINGS
