  1. Well just read a interesting article you all may be interested in as well, could have ramifications on the new Range Rover based diesels... http://www.clickondetroit.com/news/14899511/detail.html
  2. Okay guy's update on mileage on a 6.0... My neighbor who is about the least mechanically inclined person I have ever met is a concrete cutter and a built like a bull. He drives a 05 E450 box truck totally loaded with saws, grinders and a plethra of god only knows what on his truck, definitely overloaded. To date the only problems he has had has been batteries, alternator and a abs ecm. Believe it or not but NO INJECTION PROBLEMS. He currently has 240,000 miles on it. I couldn't believe it when he told me this but pulled all the maint. and service records on it and it's true. I think some good ones were actually built but have slipped thru the cracks, maybe we just don't see these because they don't have problems on some of them. If it was my truck and didn't have problems I sure wouldn't be back at the dealer unless there were. I think the truck load works the engine the way it was meant to and does what it is supposed to, be a work horse.
  3. Quote: Then get your %$#&! ass over here and make it work, then, smart guy! Be careful Bruce this maybe one of Keiths bad words on "THE LIST" and if not he may add it to it.
  4. YOU ARE THE MAN... I may not have what you guy's do wrenching on them all day but I do pay attention... /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/notworthy.gif Thanks this may help...
  5. I guess I would say thanks even though I don't know what the(f)uck your saying...HELP /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/scratchhead.gif Guide me oh Obiwan!!
  6. Get me a vin and I will get you a number# Cetane where have you been???
  7. Hmm, popcorn and beer sounds more like HOMER!!! AHHH BEEERR /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/drinkingdude.gif But back to our buddy I feel bad that he has to go through this. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crybaby2.gif I think that everyone of us would help out the best we could but we have to much fun with it, we live this hell everyday. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banghead.gif I think we should all give one of these to show our support.... /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cheers.gif
  8. You rock!!! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rockon.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rockon.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rockon.gif
  9. The thing that sucks even more is when you have a shop do a diag. and replace one of the two alt's on a ambulance and they replaced the wrong one in the wrong spot. Lots of fun trying to figure out what they did!!!( I think we did not to long ago ) The best thing is when you figure it out and show the cust. that somebody didn't know what they were talking about, and fix the problem. You just got a cust. back. But alas comes the repair bill for having to figure out the correct repair and they get sticker shock. The cust. has there vehicle back up and doing what is supposed to do but have taken it in the old pooper to get it right. Shame on them for trying to go the "CHEAP" route. I guess that's why they call us "professionals, factory trained" because we have a clue as to what to look for to begin with. Even if we don't we have our little world here to get some better ideas as to where to go next. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbup.gif That's what this Forum is for guys /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cheers.gif Ohh by the way...Hey Jim I bet you will remember this one and probably feel it longer... /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/poke.gif Just kidding I'm glad you figured it out. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbup.gif
  10. Keith,Jim and Bruce, and everyone here, it seems to me we have seen this before, can anybody remember when? This is to reminiscient I/we have had this on the forum before...I just can't place it. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/scratchhead.gif Tony something just stinks about this whole situation... There is something the cust. is not telling you. My suggestion is to talk to him and get him to tell you what he has had done to this truck before it got there. Oil, fuel something he figured he didn't need us for and did to the truck. When it happened, what happened??? It could help in fixing this without having to pull the engine hopefully... Especially after you had told us he diag's his own truck and has you replace the parts for warranty of 12/12. He's done something...
  11. Just a thought... Could this have been built around the time Ford and Nav. were having there little lovers spat. Re: lawsuit against one another and somebody might have been pissed off on the line? What's the engine build date? Was it around this time period? By the way that stat is really (f)trucked up!!! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/scratchhead.gif
  12. Yeah this coming from you /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/poke.gif, oh I'm sorry where's Jim at!!! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif
  13. He did a IPR, could he have also tried to reseal the HPOP and posibbly pull the plug for the check valve and dropped the ball inside? That's almost what this smells like.
  14. In a nutshell...SrA_Heise has had several "HORROR STORIES" at the dealer... I wonder if Spielberg will direct this one???
  15. Sorry Bruce I missed this one, Yes it is still correct. Ford has not changed yet. But wait I'm sure they will.
  16. Damn, I wish, I still was at the Ford dealer..I could have came up with one for you.
  17. See ya learned something new today, shush... don't tell Jim.
  18. It seems to me that Ford built this thing in pieces and didn't think about the service side. But like 6.0 it's all a learning curve. It will get better..
  19. I had the 2.3 4x4, but I have had drain bramage for a long time /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/boink3.gif
  20. I work for a independant and do have to sell, even though I don't care to sell some of these products. But I think Ford would be really interested to see what some of these people are doing to their vehicles that have had many years of engineering testing done to them. Flashback my coming across the F-series all camo'd up and posting the pictures here around my house. If some of these products were so good don't you think that Ford would have them integrated into the vehicles already? I'm sorry I still believe in the product the way Ford meant it to be. If these manufacturers want to sell these things they need to sell them to Ford to be a factory product or a accessory approved by Ford. And have a Ford warranty, other than that these owners are on their own when it comes to warranty.
  21. Jeff that's pretty sharp and looks like it does the job. It's a whole lot better than having to cough up a grand for the other one. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rockon.gif When you say, if you have time. What kind of time are we talking about?
  22. Okay guy's don't mean to bring up a dead dog, but I'm good for that. Here's my question... Ford has had alot of problems with oil coolers/seals and the like, I don't think I have to go deeper. But do you think that maybe the coolant may be our problem, kind of like Cummins big bore engines did when Texaco came out with the ELC, and like "dieseldoc" had with cold leaks??? Could it possibly be that the end users of the vehicles are mixing the std light duty with the hvy duty coolant required in a diesel and having degradation problems with seals???
  23. Yeah 85-87 Ford had a diesel in the Ranger, by the way I had one I loved it. Couldn't get out of it's own way but would pull the asshole out of a aardvark. Had to get rid of it because here in Michigan salt eats everything. Yeah a Escort with a diesel Bright idea there!!!
  24. Not that I know any better than you guy's but it seems to me that the "new" sensors are probably bad. Or maybe a crossed wire or bad connection. You also stated that you replaced the engine and FICM harness'. It goes back to the "old saying" Being new doesn't always mean being good. Need to check with known good parts. I would see if the old harness' and sensors are still around or swipe another off of a truck in the shop, not with the same problems "of course". By the way thanks guy's I think I'm starting to understand what your talking about!!! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbup.gif Bruce I appreciate you explaining the graphs.
  25. I just had a engineer from Dearborn come in today, getting injectors for his own 03 6.0. We talked for a while about the new engines coming down the pipe. Looks like we will see a Diesel in the F-150 in the near future, and yes it will be the 4.4 or a close version of it. He has been over there for the last 2 1/2 years working on prototypes with Range Rover for the U.S. market. He wouldn't confirm any other applications but said that they are looking at other possible applications. I brought up the Explorer or Ranger and he did dance around the subject. I think he just couldn't say anything about it. How cool would it be to have a Diesel Ranger again?
