  1. overlayed wires still the same going to tear it down and check the cam and timing.its going to be something crazy like that.i don't know how i get these problem vehicles
  2. I pulled the alternator wires still the same unhooked all the sensors i could access and unplug easy and the coil packs one at a time, no help and the problem is still there.I am in the process of doing a overlay now
  3. have a 04 explorer with a reoccuring p0340, cam sensor and pcm have been replaced.checked wiring and sensor per shop manual and cannot see any faults but ids shows fault on pid {cmp fault} after it starts up and after 3 times raising the rpm's on the vehicle it resets the code.any ideas? or things you guys have seen that would help. thanks, kevin
  4. thanks guys for the input truck seems to be fixed,no return visit i might should have replaced the pump to from what i've read but the ipr seems to have got it for now.i think the o-rings can't withstand the pressure without the plastic backing them up and i was afraid to reattach the plastic screen even though it seemed to snap back on.
  5. i just put the oil feed back in oil cooler then fabbed a piece of aluminum to fit line where it goes to turbo, used a old gasket and a couple bolts it really worked good to find cylinder called the guy today ,all is ok with the truck so far
  6. i found out which cylinder by removing the intake and blocking the turbo oil feed and cranking the engine over .it was very clear which cylinder was blowing instead of pulling air.engine just at crank speed, ficm removed.
  7. it had heads recently put on, was told that if engine crank pulley wasen't in correct position i.e. 6 o clock that the pushrod could bend while the heads were being ran up but if it stuck a valve then it isn't stuck now .it ran ok guess i'll know in a month or two. thanks for all the help guys.if anything happens bad i'll post it
  8. we are seeing a whole lot less 6.4 problems than what we had on the 6.0
  9. ran power balance and relative compression diddn't find any problem.customer had to have truck bringing back next week
  10. have a 06 f-550 that has a thumping noise coming back through the air filter at idle and at higher rpms.A thump, thump noise rythmic to the engine. It gets louder when the air filter is removed almost like it is backfiring through the intake.the vehicle had heads replaced recently for coolant in the combustion chambers.the engine is not missing and seems to perform fine with no misfiring just the noise in the air box.the noise sounds like some of the trucks do when you let off the fuel after a hard accel but this truck does it just idling.any ideas guys on where to go or what to check? thanks
  11. ANYONE EVER SEE THE FILTER SCREEN ON THE END OF THE IPR VALVE COME OFF AND CAUSE A START THEN STALL. THE TRUCK WOULD RUN COLD FOR ABOUT 3 OR 4 MINS THEN STALL AND NOT RESTART.AIR LEAK AT REAR THAT DIDDN'T CHANGE WHEN POWERING UP THE IPR. THE O-RINGS WERE STILL ON THE IPR.ANY IDEAS ON WHAT CAUSED THE VALVE TO COME APART? NEW ONE SEEMED TO CORRECT IT FOR NOW.THANKS FOR ANY INPUT
  12. what were the complaints on the vehicles jim?
  13. we had one last week in the shop for a injector and someone turned the churner on lol, instant service manager revenge
  14. i usually just tighten the nuts and cause them to break then take the broken bolts out usually works great
  15. the one i had showed up in a few min but it was hard to see with a mirror you might be able to rig up a puller and leave the heads on.i've seen some pulled in chassis on trucks might be enough room on the bus.cleaning out all the cups good and coolant dye helped on mine to reveal the culprit.make sure and order the rubber hoses for the cooling system.they will swell and rupture.
  16. verified today checked ok low volume pump fixed it.thanks to all
  17. oil pump was worn badly compared to new pump i'll try in the morning to verify
  18. going to pull low oil pump tommorow lacked base oil pressure when it set awhile took it forever to build like 10 seconds of cranking when it built back up slowly it started and ran ok thanks guys will let you know
  19. i changed the oil myself while here used motorcraft 15w40 vehicle had a lack of icp pressure while cranking code p1212 i think when it first came in but hasen't returned any codes thanks for the reply
  20. have a 2002 f-450 than after setting for a few hours will start fine then stall out then it takes a while of cranking to get it back going but when it does it will run the rest of the day how common is low pressure oil pump problems on these engines.the truck has 104000 miles or am i on the wrong track fuel pressure is good, glow plugs and relay ok.the only thing i see is the icp pressure is slow to build after setting but only one time till it sits again it's ok any ideas?
  21. new heads both sides fixed it, all is good except my back
  22. i had the parts guy order two sets of the larger nuts trying to figure it out then i just used an old nut from the original mounting.
