I had the displeasure of doing one of these this past summer, once you got all the exhaust pipes out of the way it wasn't too bad, mind you I don't think I'd want to do one with the cab on, too much you can't readily see that can go terribly wrong.
I'll be willing to bet we'll see round two in the very near future, as far as Ford getting a better product, well when they quit looking for the lowest bidder for a product maybe just maybe we'll have decent parts as we once had.
Bruno just about hit all the possible causes except one, I had a 6.0 doing exactly that and after doing all the above mentioned parts I decided to have a peek at the water pump, found the impeller had come apart.
Not surprised to see them out your way, as you guys seem to see all the parts breakage first due to the amout of these things running around the oil patch.
Gonna have to side with Larry on this, I seen 7.3's pull amazing times and with the history of the 6.0's ....... well nuff said right there... Mind you I wanna see the video /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbup.gif
Hopefully Ford will get their head outta their asses and actually get these things certifed for the North American market. I know at least 50 people that would grab one of these things, myself included /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbup.gif
You know I forgot all about this, I had a wrecker that had the same issues you described and the hotline tipped me off about openning the drain trick.... Thanks for refreshing the memory /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cheers.gif
That about sums it up Larry, goes right along with Aaron's EGR valve and my best to date with the engineer that recommended me hang a remote start on an Escape that had a trans problem cold.
I guess they're not all that picky where they find these folks.... come to think of it I got a couple at our shop that would fit right in /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banghead.gif
From what I've been told I have one that I can try this out on waiting for me when I get back to work on Monday..... I can't wait to try it /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cheers.gif
I don't know what bothers me more, the fact of the history of Navistar or "Reportedly, Ford will produce the engines at a Ford facility in Chihuahua, Mexico."
I think in the end we all loose /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crybaby2.gif
OUCH that hurts LMAO, well to be honest I kick and scream every monday morning on my way into work and then when I see all those 6.0's being brought in on the hook I must admit the tears do start /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rofl.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cheers.gif
Yeah that pretty much shows what the air ducts looked like when I took it apart, now I think I have one of those "ever since" things about to happen with this thing.
LMAO yeah Jim I see the same thing day after day from the iATN, and it really makes one wonder WTF ?????
Finally it got to the point where I unsubscribed to it altogether.
This I gotta see for myself LMAO..... as for Newman winning, that was sweet seeing him being pushed by Busch past those 2 toyota's..... I can almost bet Aaron and I will be over for at least one race this summer so we'll see what happens for the Augest race. BTW I was gonna look you up today when I was over visiting some friends and guessing by the zip for the business i was within blocks of where you are.
Sorry Jim, I shoulda been a little more clear on what I meant by free flowing exhaust, I, by no means condone removal of emission control devices, I do have the cat on my diesel and when I do replace the exhaust it WILL have the cat back in place.
