6.4 web based class available
ktmlew replied to eastendpowerstroke's topic in 6.4L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
My problem over the last three years has been plenty of work with NO pay for doing it RIGHT! The gravy suckers continue to get rich up-selling while the old guys with integrity go broke... For those that say "you have to do it for you" and all that crap...I can't pay bills with my integrity...takes money! I wish you all well. I no longer feel I have anything positve to add to this forum. I'm not upset with anyone here, it's just time to "Move Forward" with my life. Going to do something else... /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/puke.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/poke.gif Good Luck Guys!/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rockon.gif -
Jim While I basically agree with your "rants" about how it's up to us to be the "best we can be" finding a shop in the USA that will PAY you for that is just about impossible. If "getting paid" requires 12 hr days then I'm not interested...50hrs a week is PLENTY, IMO.

Yep...the IPR & MFDES have the same "notch" in the trace...I would look at the IPR.

Scan tool, so many to choose from.
ktmlew replied to dieseldoc's topic in Tools, Computers and the Internet
I used one of these a couple of weeks ago. It was on a laptop and very easy to use. Didn't get to spend much time with it as I was werkin on a VW and they didn't have the European sofware... http://www.obd2.com/scantool/scantool.htm -

So you would still do this job for half what you make now? That's what has happened down here over the last five years...they say we just have to upsell more and work Saturadys to make it up...so we will STILL make LESS money and have to work more hours will screwing every customer? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banghead.gif

I wish you all the best with the next train wreck. I've gone to an independent that doesn't do diesel. I'm done with Ford without a guarantee. The shop I am in now doesn't have a guarantee but it also allows you to kick something to the curb before you starve yourself or the company...I used to be "the guy" that could fix anything...stubborn SOB. When it quit paying to be "the best" it was time to go in another direction. I actually wish I could go back to being a "B" tech where it's all brakes, flushes and suspension. Being an "A" tech is just a JOB for me, not something I enjoy on ANY level. Turned 8.7hrs the first day...it only can get worse from here! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rofl.gif

They figured-out it was a screw-up and have you sign up to the tech-to-tech forum. Then you are in. Now that I understand why they made the change I agree with it. Why should we GIVE away out diag over the net and then go to work and bitch about not getting paid for it? They are just changing the direction of the site back to "bitch about Ford" and making the "help" forums less time consuming.

There is a thread running over there about why they did this...I supect I had something to do with them finally dropping the axe. I got in a pissing contest with one of the "expert moderators" from TDS about his 2003 6.0L that is still on the original flash and he is strictly against having it flashed but wants the truck fixed or free info on how to fix it, I balked at the "free" part...just got a bad attitude I guess! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/shrug.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/hammer2.gif Edit: forgot...if you are a memeber of the tech-to-tech forum you will have some access, still to be determined exactly what that means...I applied along time ago and never heard a peep.

Yep, $25.00 a month for ME to GIVE AWAY my experience...not gonna happen.
-
So out of one side of their mouths they will say getting paid is a "dealer issue" and the other side will say they will start cutting your pay for a customer being disgusted with having to repeatedly bring their 50K truck in for repairs?

I loved those Primitive Pete films!!! Worked with a couple of them over the years. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/poke.gif

Here is the latest from eGay. We REALLY need the straight dope from Ford/Rotunda about where you are allowed to purchase from and still get updates/support. http://motors.search.ebay.com/VCM_W0QQfromZR40

Thanks Jim. Some of the tools you see on eBay are of "questionable lineage", but there is a company that sells "OEM" diagnostic tools. I am still out of the dealership and will likely stay out due to Fords unwillingness to provide the tools we HAVE to HAVE. They obsoleted the NGS and WDS and are now passing the cost of the diagnostic tools REQUIRED to work on their vehicles down to the TECH's while cutting our pay!!! The only good news I've seen lately is that my Diesel Certification will expire come March of 07! After that I may consider working at a Ford dealership again...let the asset hero's fix them!!! Sorry for the rant, I know this board avoids that but I'm still PISSED!!!

I think this has been answered before but does Ford support the VCM's you see for-sale on eBay?
-
I would hope so...it's supposed to be in the mid-twenties here tonight around Charlotte NC...
