  1. I didn't check. Rack was tied up and didn't feel like crawling on the floor. Should have just checked at the prime terminal. The fact the truck starts and then stalls when the fuel pump relay is removed should indicate the circuit from the relay back is intact? I can hear & feel the relay being activated at KO but the pump doesn't run to prime. I didn't look to see the strategy for what signals the pump ON when engine is cranked long enough. They used to use oil pressure switch as a backup. Will review wiring diagrams some more.
  2. Have one with long crank time. Connected FP gauge and have zero pressure at KOEO/no prime. Crank for about 15=20 seconds and truck starts and run normally. 58ish PSI. Originally suspected fuel pump relay. Tested relay with relay buddy. OK. Tested for power & ground and control signals at relay center. All good. If you remove the fuel pump relay with truck running, truck quits. Control from PCM send 2.5 second signal to relay at KOEO. No pump action. You can feel/hear the relay click. Crank truck 15-20 seconds and it starts. I did NOT test to see if there is power at the PRIME pin but will next time i get a chance. I'm confuzzled?
  3. He is looking for bent connecting rods, right?
  4. When I posted 64 a set I meant it take 2 per door. So 128 bucks a door.
  5. Replaced pins using Dorman parts but wasn't supper impressed. This is the hinge with two short stubby pins w/o the usual Isky valve spring for a door check. Found some more comprehensive kits on the net at $65 bucks a set. OUCH. Does GM have a pin kit with the U bracket?
  6. OK. Thanks. I read that somewhere but your explanation is MUCH more clear. Servicing 90+ GM tricks/vans and lock cylinders are starting to die. Some are well over 300K miles.
  7. Installed a lock cylinder today from Advance. Cranked and started at first attempt. No programming needed? The "security" light lock symbol was on and would do the the prove out. Never did blink or do any "programming". I started truck 5-6 times after leaving switch on while reassembling column covers. Appeared to be fine. I thought they had to relearn the key?
  8. Luck was not a factor...it was my choice that was faulty!
  9. Made the mistake of using a Dorman Product aftermarket cover. Leaked at pan to cover at one corner. Pulled pan again today and cleaned everything spick & span, made sure corners were better sealed with silicone. I didn't run the silicone far enough and it leaked bad. OK. Re-do and the frigging COVERS injected silicone bead is leaking. WTF? The OE cover used to be nearly $150.00. Our price is now $47 bucks. Shit. Should have called dealer and checked. The pan comes off in less than 1/2 hour but draining coolant to remove WP is always a mess. I HATE comebacks. This is round three on this truck. I am working hourly, so doesn't hurt my wallet but I just hate when I make a mistake.
  10. I actually LOL'd when he referenced that song. I bet i use that phrase, in my mind, 20 times a month. It's definitely an ear worm.
  11. Yes, new body style. Working for a fleet so it will definitely "be back". Thanks again for the support. Have you tried watching signal on a scope for these concerns while very lightly wiggling connectors? Plan to get sub for Identifix in next couple of weeks. My experience last couple years is they have really stepped it up a notch. Lots of good info.

  13. Thanks a lot.... Now I have that song stuck in my head....
  14. Replaced APP assembly & connector. On test drive. So far so good. Part was cheaper from dealer.
  15. Thank you berry, berry much. I'll go for the Autel. OK! Next problem...07 Silverado LT 4.3 2-WD. P2138. Apparently they have APP sensor issues along with wiring concerns. Truck has 205K miles, so I assume out of extended warranty for pedal assembly. Drove truck 5 times yesterday...no issues. Guy shows up to go home and didn't make it 25 feet. Saved freeze frame. Only thing i see out of range was load @100%. Connected Tech 2. It ain't broke right now. Tried wiggling wiring. No problem at this time. Have a call into local dealer to ask about pedal assembly. Waiting on return call. Planning on replacing pedal assembly and wiring pigtail. Good gamble? Advance has the pedal but no wiring pigtail.
  16. I been doing this shit for 40 years. NEVER...I repeat...NEVER seen a tech get back-flagged for a mis-diag and also very seldom seen a repair go back to the tech that mis-diagnosed it. I got it AFTER thee gravey dog sucked all the money out of the customers wallet. Would take me 5 minutes to find the PCV hose with the gaping hole or the wiring shorted on the EGR tube, etc. I was very lucky to get paid an hour FOR ACTUALLY FIXING THE CAR because they sure as hell wouldn't take any money from their Supertech! Your idea sounds good but isn't reality in 95% of shops.
  17. No alignment machine. i found the procedure but it just does't work all the time. Frustrating trying to decide/know when a sensor is actually bad. The tool recommended above is the answer.
  18. We have a Tech 2 but i haven't used it yet. How/when does it need/get updated? The previous tech used his Modis for diag work. That tool is available on Amazon for about $75.00. Drove a "basic" featured truck today. You access the TPMS system by simply scrolling with the tripmeter button to TPMS relearn, then hold the button down until the horn honks twice. Then let the air out, LF, RF, RR, LR...should get 2 horn beeps at end. Turn key off and set air pressure. I did it and it went fairly quickly but "check LF air pressure" was still up. No warning light. Drove truck and warning message eventually went away. Weird shit. I'll buy that tool if they balk at all. It will save sooooo much time it's worth it. I really appreciate all the help you guys are giving me. Been doing mostly equipment/heavy trucks the last several years. Got waaaay behind on some of these simple details. Next is the throttle body issues...
  19. Working on Chevy pickups and vans. Had a van today that indicated both rear tires were low, blinking light. Corrected air pressures and attempted to relearn the system. Wouldn't learn the LF which is the first one in the system. OK...sensor must be bad? Replaced sensor with GM part. Still no joy. I'm cornfused? Need to bone up on GM TPMS crap. Most of fleet do NOT have a key FOB. Must use the buttons on dash. What am I missing. Had another identical van that i replaced both rear tires/wheel assemblies. Keep some mounted and ready to go. Programmed right up, actually horn beeped while i was letting air out. Normally let air out and have to wait 15-20 seconds before it rolls over to next wheel. This one seemed to read as soon as it saw 5lbs of change. Just like they SAY it's supposed to.
  20. Curious to see how these work. The cable is pulled in a straight line. Will order some other stuff end of week.
  21. Agree 100 %. Started a fleet job little over a week ago servicing a bunch of Chevy pickups, vans & box vans. Also appears i'll be fixing some portable generators too. Hourly with good benefits. Basically running my own shop. So far, loving it!
  22. Be a little surprised if there are more than 3 of the Contours still on the road? Most already set themselves on fire.
