  1. It sounds like a pushbutton keypad issue. That'll cause the no start since it has no way to know if it's in neutral. The Deutsch is for the engine and trans.
  2. Around here the gasket fails because the rail gets rust jacked. If the rail's not perfectly clean and smooth throughout, they fail repeatedly.
  3. I followed this story for a while, since I too do fatals. I don't think it's clear in this linked article that the bus mechanic and the killed bus driver are both employed by the same entity. Another lesson here is be careful if you ever work as a mechanic fixing vehicles for the owner of those vehicles, who also signs your paycheck.
  4. I haven't seen many 100 year old engines without cooling system issues. You're not trying to say that the old EG coolant is without problems OR that it was used in automotive engines 100 years ago, right? 100 years ago, they said glycerine was no good either so it appears there's some common ground.
  5. It sounded great until you realize the noisiest diesels are those that are running out of fuel.
  6. I attribute diesel engine knock to the difference in time delay between the moment of injection and the moment of ignition. The bigger the delay, the bigger the knock.
  7. I've pulled these out entirely and installed a suction side filter before the lift pump. That seems to resolve everything and make it a simple maintenance item instead of a tank R&R job every time.
  8. I saw those a while ago, looking for something on Sprinters, I forget what. If they get the same welcome as the Sprinters did, we won't be seeing many of them.
  9. I think it really depends on what you're load testing. A carbon pile, blower resistor, ballast resistor, headlamp, test light, etc. can be considered load testers on some circuits.
  10. You put the LL injector in the correct hole?
  11. Actually, researching the patent numbers, I learned something. They're not glued, the filter's endplates are thermally bonded without an added bonding agent. In other words, the end plates ARE the glue, no added goo goes in there. You can actually see that in the pic, there's nothing but element and plate.
  12. And if it makes you feel better, a 1/2" bolt torqued to 30lbs+90 degrees is a lesser final torque than a 5/8" bolt at 30lbs+90 degrees...unless of course the 1/2" bolt was coarse thread and the 5/8" was fine thread.
  13. I checked the 3304 and came up with the same info as you. If you're uncertain about this, post an engine serial #, but it seems to be correct. Media #SEBR0517-00 SMCS #1203-10 30 ft lb +/- 3ft lb +90 degrees.
  14. Wait a sec. I had a (86) Chevy Sprint 3.0 with A/C....and automatic. I've worked on diesel Chevettes. And diesel ESCORTS, and diesel TEMPOS.....
  15. This one had only 4k on the oil, IN fact it's as clean as you could expect to see. This truck's NOT neglected, it's overmaintained. That's what bothered me, this is MY filter, and I don't like when my parts let go. I checked those patent numbers and they're all to Hengst and Parker Hannifin. The filter is a Donaldson, and the OE is Hengst, right? That makes this an OE filter. I've never seen one of mine fail yet, always the Brand X ones.
  16. I've seen this happen with aftermarket ones, but this is a reboxed OE design. Has anyone found a cause?
  17. Early onset Alzheimers, chemically induced.
  18. I may be easy, but not I'm not cheap. But....I keep no records of questions written, and can't even remember what I had for breakfast.
