  1. 6 litre....the headache rack are his stacks.An those are 22.5 wheels.
  2. You can remove the right side battery tray instead of the EGR cooler. It doesn't save any time, you just don't have to deal with the possible mess of coolant that comes with removing it.
  3. I live on the other side of Canada from Twig. Funny thing is, I am pretty sure the cost of living is higher where he lives. I think the main factor here in Alberta is that there are a of diesel trucks due to the oil industry.
  4. Raptor for a T/Case overhaul. The thrust bearing in the high/low planetary came apart. Had an intermittent neutral condition accompanied by the occasional grinding. Have to admit, I enjoyed driving it around the empty lot across the road from us.
  5. Will definitely look into that and post my findings. Wish the guy would leave me his truck to tinker with though. Maybe when it's warm enough for him to get his bike out full time.
  6. Customer brought in his 2000 7.3L for hard start cold. First off it's a USA truck with California emissions, second, he doesn't want to spend that much money. P0683, GPCM communication fault and P0603 KAM error. Harness from PCM to GPCM is intact. KAM power to PCM is good as well. I am leaning towards a PCM at this point but want to be sure. Now it's time to dust off the breakout box and determine which module is bad, but the customer doesn't want to spend any more money diagnosing the problem, and for sure doesn't want to put up the money for either a PCM or a GPCM. So I give him the option to run the glow plugs off a standard glow plug relay controlled by a toggle switch, but warned him the Service Engine Soon light will always be on at that point. It should be a pretty simple procedure to modify the harness to connect to the relay. Anyone fore see or know of any issues this may cause? Other than the obvious issue if he forgets to switch them off. That may be cured by a push button switch, but I can't see him sitting there with his finger on the button for over 30 seconds on a cold day. Ideas, thoughts?
  7. Damn...you could do that for coming off and going back on. NICE!
  8. OMG... ....I can't even remember the last time I was at that wage...Has to have been at least 15 years ago. Dude..you need to fix that. Starting wage for good diesel techs around here is minimum $40 hour plus bonuses.
  9. Apr 19 2016 2925 - 2015-2016 F-Super Duty Chassis Cab - 6.7L Diesel - High Pressure Fuel System Parts Catalog Update On 2015-2016 F-Super Duty chassis cab vehicles equipped with a 6.7L diesel, indicated by a VIN combination that starts with 1FD, the parts catalog currently has incorrect parts numbers listed for the fuel injectors, high pressure fuel pump and fuel system kit. While the parts catalog is being updated, utilize fuel injector part BC3Z-9H529-A on cylinders 1,2,7 and 8 and injector part BC3Z-9H529-B on cylinders 3,4,5 and 6 only. When servicing the high pressure fuel pump, use BC3Z-9A543-A only. Currently, there is no complete fuel system service kit for chassis cabs, and if a high pressure fuel system requires replacement, components must be ordered separately. Pickup and chassis cab fuel injectors and high pressure pumps are not interchangeable.
  10. Trying to get the left front steering knuckle to slide back onto the strut of a 2013 Escape after replacing the wheel bearing. What the hell.....no room to get right under the strut, so I am forced to hit it near the lower ball joint boss. Keeping it lined up with the notch is one thing, finally got it close and noticed the spindle is not true anymore and it rotates rough. In the process of hitting the knuckle I managed to dislodge the bearing and the ABS ring got jammed into the snap ring. The last time I did these the knuckle would slide right back on with very little force. Any tips before I remove the strut and assemble it on the ground? Fixed: Had to use a chisel to spread open the knuckle, slid right on. I am pretty sure I read somewhere in the WSM that doing that is a no-no. Not sure what they expect us to do.
  11. Just saw this. Might explain the wacky readings. Apr 19 2016 2921 - 2011-2016 F-Super Duty - 6.7L Engine Only - Updated PC/ED Diagnostics And Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) Load Parameter Identification Data (PID) The Powertrain Control/Emission Diagnostic (PC/ED) manual has recently been updated for 2011-2016 F-Super Duty equipped with a 6.7L engine. A revised PID for determining DPF load has been released with integrated diagnostic system (IDS) service calibration release B99.01 and later. The new PID is labeled DPF_LOAD_PKUPfor pickups, indicated by the third vehicle identification number (VIN) as a T and DPF_LOAD_CMRL for chassis cabs where the third VIN character is a D. The newPID data is displayed as a percentage on IDS and should be utilized when directed from the PC/ED for determining DPF soot load.
  12. While this is all very interesting and with out a doubt very useful information, I have yet to diagnose any 6.7L equipped vehicle for DPF issues. We actually see vehicles with well over 250,000 km's on them with the original After-treatment systems in them.
  13. It's that time of year again. Getting 2-3 EGR cooler cores a week. The one currently in my bay is on replacement #2.
  14. Oops..My bad..thought all the 2016 MY vehicles had SYNC 3.
  15. Bragging????? The new SYNC 3 by Blackberry is a sweet system.
  16. Was more amazed by the truck itself. I would have a lot of fun trying to put those 700+ HP to the ground. Price wise...well...Does anyone really need to buy a Shelby? It's a toy..if you have the money...go for it.
  17. Any codes? Any chance the EGR valve went stupid? Plugged exhaust? CKP/CMP issues, if the PCM can't determine timing it will not fire the injectors, but it will produce fuel pressure, very miss-leading when that happens. At this point it would almost easier to verify all the good stuff first and what is left is your failure. I have had trucks come in with lots of fuel pressure but won't fire due to bad injectors. After all, this is a reman, anything can happen.

  19. It's not SYNC, it's the phone. My old Samsung Galaxy Nexus would not link texts, but our new Nexus 5 and Samsung Galaxy CORE LTE will.
  20. 6L Econoline....OOPS. Guess this is what happens when the bottom starter bolt is left out.
  21. Got my Dodge Cummins head done.... ....That Idle up feature is SWEET...Why the hell doesn't Ford do that....
  22. I put 6.4L turbos on that way. Never climbed up onto the frame on a 6L though. What's he doing there?
  23. The one thing I found odd about Ford's SUV line up is, although the Escape is the smallest of the 3, it actually feels more roomy and has more front and back seat leg room, when compared to the Edge and the Explorer. The Edge does have more power and handles better than the Escape though, but at a price increase of course. We went with the Escape, mainly for the price difference.
  24. That's where my input exit's this thread. I have never had to replace the top o-rings. Last one I had that was blown out was under warranty.
