  1. Another dealership replaced the injector return line because it blew apart, now it's here for the same concern after having 250 km put on it. I seem to recall someone else having this issue before due to a restriction in the fuel system somewhere, but I can't find the post. Might have been on the Ford message boards, not sure. Anyone remember anything about this? A faulty injector with an internal leak causing excessive pressure to the return line seems to ring a bell now. Question is determining which injector.
  2. 2012 F550, Never come across one that broke like this. Can't find the hold down clamp, so I don't know if it is broken. I was able to spin the fuel line off the injector by hand. The injector must have been loose for a while.
  3. So...after a new cluster, various programming issues, multiple failed blank path programming attempts, configuration failures, a new PCM, more programming issues, more configuration issues, Hotline on the phone walking me through a key off, as-built programming session(which was successful) and the cluster still hasn't changed, I was instructed to drive it with the hopes it would regen and reset the message. 5 minutes into the drive I get reduced power and the engine won't rev past 1300 RPM. Cycled the key, P0234 set, boost gauge reading 40 PSI, MAP_A pid reads 52.2. New turbo, 75 KM road test, Exhaust filter climbs to 65%, still asks to CLEAN Y/N. Parking lot OCR through the cluster, Filter drops to 15% and message resets...All is good! Still not sure what happened, but it's fixed and we are happy. Edit: Too good to be true, message is back in IPC.
  4. 1999 and up: f81z-6c673-ba My parts guy shows them at $660 Canadian. Good stock USA side. Not much here in Canada though, but they are available. http://parts.lakelandford.com/p/Ford__/Solenoid-Turbocharger-Boost-Solenoid-Valve-73-LITER-TURBO-DIESEL-EBP/53149106/F81Z6C673BA.html
  5. Yes you do. And you need a different communications module for the PCM/IDM. If you have PTS access go to Rotunda/Diagnostic tool support/Medium duty truck diagnostics. You should find all you need to know there. Have you tried to run it with the new IDM, most come pre-programmed?
  6. Ya, my boss would love that. This is on our dime now. I took the oil pump off and managed to get the scoring cleaned up pretty good and filled in the little gouges with anaerobic sealer. Thought about that, but in the past they always blow out the glow plug grommet first. Will check after the repair though, just to be sure.
  7. When this came in to us originally it had an aftermarket seal with a speedy sleeve. One of our techs installed the Ford seal. Now it's back leaking. First I checked to confirm correct installation, as seen in the first picture. Then I checked crankshaft end play, just over 0.0003. Removed the seal and found some gouges on the crank side of the sleeve and the crank is all scored up as well. Not sure who damaged the crank, but I am suspecting this was enough the cause the leak.
  8. So.....Have another one giving me grief. Confirmed EGR system good, Fuel system good, DEF system good. Found DEF crystallization on the mixer, ran 2 manual regens and cleared the message. Put 20 km's on it, all good. Customer picks it up, 230 km's later and the message is back. Speed limited to 80 KPH after next key cycle. Funny thing is, he cycles the key and it hasn't limited to 80 KPH yet. Has anyone here figured out what conditions cause the excessive DEF crystallization build up on the mixer. He does idle his truck, but not excessive, and he pulls a holiday trailer with it.
  9. ATP and Dorman make those intakes. The ATP seems to come with it's own gaskets, but states it's compatible with OEM gaskets. Can't help with the water pump though.
  10. Update to this. Reset button does toggle Y/N. After selecting yes the cluster will advance to the next question on it's own. If you hit the Select button it will kick you out of OCR. Also found out why cluster levels 2 and 3 don't have the OCR option: Not enough available memory to put in all the required programming.
  11. Due to the filter percentage on the dash matching the PDF load PID in the PCM, we have assumed the IPC software went stupid and because there is no option to "Reprogram" the IPC it is getting a new one. FWIW..PMI and As-Built only reset the configuration data, neither actually does anything to the calibration software.
  12. Hotline seems to be focusing on the IPC. Although nothing they have me do is working. They gave me a code for manual As-Built data entry, that doesn't work either, this IPC will not do anything except a configuration reset. Still waiting on next step. What is the guided routine test? Is this an IDS option or WSM procedure? Nevermind...found it.
  13. Has a new MAF and MAP. PCM reprogram. Even tried blank path reprogram with another PC that didn't have any calibration files on it. Thing is, it doesn't need to regen. It will not regen by itself. The message just never clears. It was in at another dealer when I was on holidays and they found faulty MAF and MAP sensors and released the truck. Now it's on my door step. Performed PMI and As-Built on IPC-no change.
  14. Not sure why it's upside down, but you get the jist of it. 2015 F450 cab/chassis. IPC reads Exhaust filter 40% Clean filter y/n. Select yes and it will run OCR for 10 minutes, cycle the key and the message returns. Same thing if I perform a manual regen. First time I ran it DPF load was 338%, which shocked me, but is apparently normal on the cab/chassis. After 2 manual regens the DPF load dropped to 81% on IDS. Message in IPC dropped to 10%. Cycled the key and the 40% with clean is back. There is a reprogram for this, but it didn't fix it. Currently waiting on Hotline response. Any one come across this. A little bit of information I did find out. Pick-up models calculations are different that cab/chassis calculations. Pickup: IPC uses 0-100%, PCM uses 0-100%. Cab/chassis: IPC uses 0-100%, PCM uses 0-300%. Datalogger pid will not always show the 0-300% calculation though, mine matched the IPC, but the manual regen calculation showed the 0-300% calculation. Hotline led to no problems found. Sent them the picture of the IPC.
  15. Apparently door lock cylinders for 2003 Honda Civics are hard to come by. So I switched the right door cylinder to the left side, now I can get in my car without going through the passenger door all the time.
  16. Just heard from customer. 6.4L cam shaft job went off without a hitch. Customer is very happy.
  17. 2016 F550 6.7L, 22,000 KMS that needs a turbo, MAF, air inlet tube and CAC because of a cheap collapsed air filter. 2013 F250 6.7L 144,000 KMS that needs a MAF because of a cheap collapsed air filter.
  18. They changed the torque sequence for the head bolts. 70 ft/lbs, loosen, 115 ft/lbs, 90, 90.
  19. I have seen a "Custom" written tune do this but not one done by the usual suspects. Our OTC scan tool wouldn't read it either. In the end we had the owner put it back to stock, we diagnosed and fixed the issue, then had the customer put the tune back in.
  20. An unforeseen benefit of the 88/90f highs when I was in L.A., I managed to get used to the temperature whilst down there and the high temps here of a mere 82F don't bother me anymore.
  21. http://www.nissan.ca/en/trucks/titan-xd/features/?dcp=ppn.114962390.&dcc=0.287977853.71700000009912256 Looks like a bugger to work on.
  22. No. When it came in the first time it had P207F and P0401. No fault messages, so I ignored the P207F and fixed the EGR cooler. I noticed the tailpipes were black, but the exhaust LOOKED new, so I left it thinking that it was replaced elsewhere, turns out it wasn't. Next day it comes back, now it had the Exhaust fault and P207F. Further inspection of the exhaust revealed it was original, but the DPF was buggered. So I just finished installing a new one. Performed all the resets, get out on the road to clear the message and the thing limits to 80 kph, engine idled soon pops up...WTF???..Get it back to the shop and no codes... , Run KOER and it sets EGR cooler performance and wastegate control performance..both are working...rerun KOER and no codes.. . I shut it down and get prepared to clear the Engine Idle condition, turn the key back on and the message center is back to normal, NO WARNING MESSAGES...now I'm really confused..back out on the road I go and put 40 KM on the damn thing with no issues.. Have I mentioned I HATE these things?
  23. Thanks..thought I was going crazy...sad because we finally got back into a decent score 94.6%...haven't been over 89% for awhile.
  24. So...where does one go to take part in this PTS challenge? Or is it strictly a US thing. I can't find it.
  25. Just finished a 2014, p207f, p0401. Had the exhaust system replaced elsewhere and no DEF fault messages. I diagnosed and replaced the EGR cooler and both codes cleared. Just was told it's coming back in, Exhaust system fault and speed limited.....I hate these. So..what I thought was a new after treatment assembly was actually the original, just less rusty that the tail pipe. Particle filter is damaged and it's getting a new one tomorrow. Did I mention I hate these....
