  1. Even if you have VGT issues, you should still get the Max 8 PSI out of the low pressure turbo. Even with 1 weak injector it should not affect boost. I would be looking at the MAP abnd EPB sensors on this one. Then again you can't diagnose what you can't find, Right? Sometimes you just gotta give it back saying "Sorry, can't find your issue."
  2. Possibly was banging away the top of the lifter long enough to damage the little snap ring that holds them together. Lack of customer's common sense sounds more like it. Saw one do that on a 6l that had a bad cam lobe.
  3. I was thinking you could sharpen them up and make some nice ninja throwing stars. Geez, what am I...12...
  4. Already seen a couple of people "Scootin" around Edmonton, no convertibles yet though. Maybe that helps.
  5. Sitting out in the parking lot, no jacket on, driver's door open and enjoying the not so cold weather. I hear a sound I haven't heard in a few months. The rythmic HONK of the Canadian Goose. I think to myself, hey, those are a little early. I look up in the sky only to see them heading south. WTF.. Is it the end of fall already? What happened to summer? I love Alberta weather.
  6. Personally know a couple of people that have beaten cancer. We are all rooting for you Jim. Prayers and thoughts to you and your family.
  7. This sensor was correctly installed and tight. After putting the new one in my pressure reading was 2.3 PSI at idle. Particle filter is plugged. Customer IMO was not to smart in buying a diesel with only 97000 KM's from an auction.
  8. That is the exact hoist I have. Ain't she a beaut? Sounds like you had the exact same crew installing yours as did ours. These guys bragged about how quickly they could get hoists installed. The finished product had much to be desired. When the electrcian hooked up the power he forgot to wire in the shut off up top. OPPS, took 2 weeks to get a guy back in to do it right. Their excuse is the electricians that were invovled in the shop build had never done an automotive shop before. NICE. Back on topic, it's a nice hoist to work on.
  9. Are we thinking that having that turbo tucked down in the valley is not letting it disapate enough of the heat on loaded trucks. The only 2 turbos I have done were on F550's with full service bodies on them, that like your's are constantly loaded.
  10. Is that the PCM tucked in between the turbo and the block? 5th pic down, looks like some kind of module.
  11. Various exhaust overtemp codes. Particle filter codes. Regen comp pid is 2871.51 KM, regen request pid is 7.99 KM. First one I have ever seen do this.
  12. Same truck: Relative compression has 5 and 6 2% and 8 at 8%. Manual compression on 8 is 220, thats a dead hole, thank you very much. Told customer, who is now in Medicine Hat, that it will minimum need a short block. He is still concerned about his injectors. Which we found out he TOLD the last dealer to just replace the 2 injectors and no further diag. After 10 minutes on the phone with the guy I told him the only way to verify if the injectors are good would be to put them in a known good cylinder and see what the power balance says. So now I get to swap injectors bank to bank and retest. This truck is not worth the hassle, but it's not my call I guess. It's going outside for now. Got an 11 with constant low DEF warnings and an 09 with an oil cooler issue to fix first.
  13. Got an 06 6L here with 340,000 KM. Came in on the hook, stalled on highway. 200 KM ago it had 2 injectors put in SPW( the guy replaced all 8 14 months ago, so it is now over its SPW on the injectors). I get it running, 4 6 and 8 are dead. Did the bubble test and found the left bank was leaking. Tried to get the glow plugs out, they wouldn't. Pulled the valve covers to try from inside and found 2 and 4 injectors are new. Reciept from last repair stated 2 and 7 were replaced. Had a look at 7 and it was not new, HMMMM wonder what happened there? Regardless, I needed to find my current issue, still couldn't get the glowplug harness out so I figured I would pull the injectors and have a look at them and pop out the harness at the same time. Thinking I would find a burnt up injector seal, I found only clean nice looking injectors..GRRR. Got the glow plug harness out, new seals on the injectors and put them back in. Continue with bubble test and the bubbles are gone, frick. Noticed a shit load of crackcase pressure while cranking as well, nice, got a weak engine to boot. So I started it up with minimal reassembly to warm it up and try bubble test again, nothing, and it still runs on 5 cylinders. Now my batteries are to low to do a relative compression test, so its on the charger for a bit.
  14. If you are asking, I will answer. The Taurus and Fusion have the same grille shape. Even the new Full size Connect has that shape, all be it somewhat taller.
  15. I have that as part of my scrolling background. It looks nice but I doubt it will make die hard mustang fans happy.
  16. The wage offered is typical for a licenced fully trained Alberta Ford tech. As far as hiring more people I can't say for sure, but you would shake your head at the amount and size of some of the dealerships in Edmonton, not just Ford. They are huge. I doubt there is enough work to fill every bay with a constant flow of vehicles. We went a bit bigger, but not by much. The others are going over kill, it's stupid. I will do some digging, our management is good about keeping tabs on the surrounding dealerships, I am sure I can find out for info.
  17. Wait till you see the 2015 Mustang.....This won't be good...
  18. Thankfully that never happened when we moved to the new shop. It's business as usual.
  19. All you need is an inch behind and about 2 inches above the cab, and it will lift the 4 inches in the front needed to slide the engine out.
  20. Ain't that the truth. The last place I left, they asked me why I was leaving. I told them that moral sucks, the service advisors all fight over who's work get in first and it disrupts the flow in the shop, and with the Fastlane and the new owner's brought in truck shop supertechs, there is very little work. They replied by saying how about a little raise, I said a raise means shit when there is no work for a flat rate tech. They then said, we are upgrading the shop with new benches and cabinets for everyone, how about that? I laughed and said no thanks. Next day they asked if I wanted to go out for a nice lunch and discuss things. I said sure, take the flat rate tech off of work that he badly needs for a "Nice lunch." No thanks. I said if you want to feed me go get me a double big mac combo with a coke and let me get back to work. That was the best tasting big mac I ever had. 1 week later I was gone. Sometimes it's not about the looks of the place.
  21. Just finished pulling 275 ft/lbs on a set of 6.4L head studs. Geez, are my arms sore now.
  22. That's fine coming out if the pan is protected. Putting it back in that way is another story. It would be quicker to pull 6 cab bolts than to force the engine to tilt that far forward before sliding it back in. IMO
