If you are looking to make 200 hours pay for 100 hours work, then dealership diesel work is not the way to go. All in all it is not bad, there is still retail diesel work coming through our doors, so I manage to pull a good paycheck despite the warranty battle. Research your potential employers, if the retail end is there no reason to not dive in.

Aftermarket programmer for a Legitimate Purpose.

Most programmers use micro SD cards for program storage. Down side to your issue is you also need the program that tells the programmer to install the file into the PCM. Edge and H&S have excellent customer support and may offer some guidance. Just had another though, most custom speed shops with dyno's have the ability to custom tune for engine mods. They may have the required tuner you need to reflash the PCM. -
Here's a thought. The passenger side tray is metal and the driver side is plastic. If one was to over tighten the wedge bolt, it could possibly break the plastic tray and render the wedge useless, the strap is there for back-up. After much testing and NO battery tray sales, Ford decided it was redundant. One hole in that theory though is why only F450/550.

My comment would be that maybe vehicles never get driven long enough to actually complete a drive cycle. Or something else that doesn't set a code is preventing it from doing so. Isn't that why we have symptom charts. Could be wrong though.

You are correct, and it made them easy to deplete the system of pressure before changing fuel filters.
-
From my understanding, this was more to make sure it had oil pressure before supplying fuel, not to shut it down if it dropped off. Just like the 7.3L and 6L's were never designed to shut the injection system down when the oil pump gave out, it was more of an unintended perk.

If the employer "wants" you as a tech, then you have every right to request your own "wants". In my case, I left the last dealer because 1: management was driving me freaking batty, and 2: I was sick of losing my ass on diesels. I moved to this dealer with the stipulation of less diesel work and more other stuff. After a short while I noticed that the less diesel became all diesel. I requested other work and was offered a compensation package because of my past experience and training, a straight time guarantee on any diesel job that became a nightmare beyond my control. However, if I screw something up, I eat my time, fair is fair. 6 years later all is good.

The strap and wedge are 1 unit. The end of the strap has a metal flange that is help to the wedge by the wedge bolt. They have to be installed at the same time.

The P1000 is your first indication it has been programmed. If I recall P1000 will never be present with other fault codes, unless it has been programmed. The programmer shuts down the OBDII drive cycle, thus the P1000 NEVER clears.

This is why insurance keeps going up. You always pay in the end.

First digit in VIN is a 1. I have only ever seen it on chasis cab trucks, specific dates elude me but 05/06 for sure. They also have the plastic wedge.

Why is it that the left battery on 6L equiped F450's and F550's have a strap and the other does not?

2003 f350 lacks power in reverse only.

Not sure where the truck is actually, any river around here is frozen. B.C. or the states maybe. I think it was a phone in complaint. The torque converter idea peaks my interest. -
I lift out complete 6.4L's with the both turbos this way. Put the turbo lifting tool in place first as to not disturb the turbo seals, then remove one bolt, attach the chain and re-torque it, then the next. Have the hook directly above the front bolt and it lifts out at a real nice angle. I tilt the cab enough to get a 4x4 between the front body mount. Works real nice.

You would surprised how many trucks I see with hitch balls bolted to the front bumper. My guess is the first time they backed a boat in they went too far and decided they could see better if they drove in nose first. Not my choice for loading/unloading a boat, but each to their own I guess. -
If you go onto Wikipedia, you will see that the company has a history of bankruptcy and mergers and take overs, doesn't seem to have had very good management. A ticking time bomb. Won't miss the Twinkies, but I will miss Wonder bread. It was the only bread that could handle Nutella with out ripping to shreds. My kids will be sad.

My service manager presented this scenario to me. His buddy is trying to pull a boat out of a river, up a slight bank in reverse. The bank is loose dirt and mud. The truck wouldn't pull the boat up the incline and it wouldn't spin the tires either. In drive the truck has power to spare. Other that the slight difference in ratios between First 2.71:1 and reverse 2.18:1. I can't think of any reason this could happen. Other than the obvious angle the truck is on that could possibly affect fuel and oil flow. Anyone has any thoughts or experience with this?

From what I understand, Windows 8 is optimized for touch screen based set-ups. If you have an Xbox 360 with all the latest updates it is quite similar to Windows 8.

You can always loosen the connection between the 2 coolers and pressure up the system when its hot to see if you get any coolant leaking out. Hotline told me to run the engine at around 1500 RPM with the EGR valve commanded open to get the coolers good and hot first.

Did your computer do any windows updates before this all started happening? I have heard that some windows updates conflict with INFORD and FMCdealer, and it takes Ford awhile to catch up. Maybe do a system restore if you have it turned on, or go into installed programs, there should be a place to click to show installed updates, and remove updates till it works for you.

Get a small ice pack and put it on the IPR valve for a minute or two when she stalls and see if it will start up right away. Most IPR's I see go bad are when they get hot.

Message popped up in broadcast messages regarding reprogramming 6L issues with VCM II. Advised to use VCM I till the issue is resolved.

Typically, here in Canada, after a major disaster or crisis, diesel goes up because of the demand to run all the recovery/repair vehicles. Not sure who negates this but it seems we pay for it in more ways than we know.

There has to be oil flowing to the turbo in order for the lever to be moved by the actuator. The actuator directs oil to either side of a piston which moves the lever.

My 2013 Escape has Myford Touch and a built in wireless receiver. I have read articles about a Ford developed web browser which is supposed to be active in Myford touch when connected to a wireless signal with internet access and the vehicle is in park. For the life of me I can not find any technical write-ups in any Ford publication or find it on my Escape. I have connected to many wifi hotspots and nothing happens besides creating my own in vehicle hotspot, which seems a little redundant, seeing as most everything now has built in wireless capabilities and can connect to the same outside hotspot by themselves. Anyone have any other info on this? Found what I needed. It's in Sync services which is not available in Canada... Oh well...Delete post if needed. Thanks.
