  1. Hey, I just finished tearing one apart this morning, crank was broke, bearngs spun.
  2. I agree, I got a deal on a solus ultra and a toolbox this summer, love the scanner.
  3. I've got a snap on 3/8" 14.4v been rebuilt once, they don't like transmission fluid in large quantities. Been a great impact. Original batteries are weak though, but for 5 years old they are doing well I think. Don't know that I could stomach a new one though. $450 is getting kind of steep.
  4. Well it's out the door and gone. Wasn't too bad but next time I definately won't take the radiator out if I don't have to. Thanks guys.
  5. The dealer I just left still has a functioning SBDS. Edit: That still gets used a couple times a year.
  6. I can't believe it hasn't been done yet.
  7. Oh, I got way too carried away then. Only top alternator I assume, or both?
  8. So are you guys still removing the cooling module and all of the front components as well? This doesn't seem too bad i'm just taking my time to not break anything and remember how it all goes back together.
  9. I ran an oasis and ordered an egt sensor and pigtail probably a week ago for a 6.7 and within 10 minutes an engineer from ford called and told me to do the same thing with it, cut the sensor and pigtail from the harness without disturbing the connection. Must be having pin fit issues or terminal fretting??
  10. Cube Van 25 passenger college bus Can you get the right side valve cover off without removing the LH engine mount? Why does that matter? The left side engine mount comes out in less than 10 minutes... I suppose your right about that. Never done anything to an E-series like this.
  11. Can you get the right side valve cover off without removing the LH engine mount?
  12. All you guys with E-series experience, what is an expected time for HPOP, standpipe and dummy plug replacement? 2005 E450 6.0. Just would like to know if i'm getting shafted. Advisor quoted 21 hrs with diag. Van was a no start towed in.
  13. Got a truck where a customer poured 2.5 gal of DEF in the FUEL tank while truck was still running. What kind of times is everyone getting for customer pay fuel system replacement per the fuel contamination aid?
  14. Well hotline says replace oil cooler, I think I'll go ahead and do that and pull the water pump to see if the cover is cavitated.
  15. I've got one right now doing the same thing, cooler was replaced a couple thousand miles ago by another dealership, I just put thermostats in it, seals were gone, still gets hot enough to go into derate and set a P012F. I'm thinking about just tearing it apart in the morning and looking at the front cover. For those of you that have done this before what is going to be cavitated in the cover?
  16. I service a lot of oilfield trucks, I see the BRS-170's hide axleseal leaks and also hold water in the axletubes. One of the most recent ones I did had both tubes and the pumpkin full if milkshaked gear oil. These guys also only get about 7,000 miles out of a set of brakes in a super duty though- they are kind of hard on their trucks....
  17. After I got it apart it ended up being the rear cover that the seal bolts to that was leaking. I also replaced one of the oil rail in head end plugs while the trans was out. Customer still wanted seal replaced while trans was out.
  18. Tried searching- no luck. Can the oil pan on a 96 f350 be removed with engine still in chassis?? Got the trans out for rear main replacement trying to upsell pan reseal. Looks possible, is it though??
  19. I agree, especially when you are working on your own vehicle on your own time. I always try to fix what I can on my truck before I buy anything "remanufactured". Case in point- I just resealed the CII steering pump on my 87 F250- $10 vs $50 for a new pump, going to reseal the box this weekend, as long as it's in ok shape. First time i've seen the inside of a power steering pump-even after 4 yrs of college. Like Keith said also gives you a better understanding of what you are replacing and why you are replacing it.
