  1. You are correct about being able to claim this after the recall has been performed.I would have to recheck my notes because I am also not positively sure of the time limit on this type of claim.
  2. You guys may already know and do this but I thought I would throw it out there if some didn't.Since radiators aren't covered on powertrain extended warranty we always claim them as related damage if the recall for the degas tee connection hasn't been performed and Ford has been paying the claims with no problems.Just slap me if this has already been discussed.
  3. I would suggest to anyone who hasn't ordered tools from RTTP to do so.They have free and fast shipping (usually 2 days at most for me) ,good prices and selection.I have bought alot of sunex impact sockets from them.Cheap, durable, and you don't shed near the tears when you lose them compared to when you lose a $30 or more SnapOn socket.
  4. I didn't know they sent one out to dealers I need to look and see if I can find it.Was this ESST case a partially empty case to put special service tools in?I am not familiar with this case.More info appreciated Keith.
  5. I always said if Ford can get all the 6.0l trucks to out of warrant status parts sells alone could save them from bankruptcy.
  6. Hell, somebody slip over to autotrend forums and ask Rex.He will clear up all the questions you have. You may want to call it an IATS or something so he will know what the hell your talking about.
  7. I guess it is an oem turbo and not some kind of upgraded turbo.First one I have ever seen like that.
  8. I know when I made my IPR hotwire for closing off IPR with battery I use the ends off of an old under valve cover harness from a 7.3l.It will fit Ipr like a charm and has metal clip.Just cut them off of the next 7.3l harness you take out.
  9. They come unconnected in some police vehicles.Wires are run but not connected to radio and has something to due with the 2 way radio in these cars.If im not mistaken they have concern with officers not being able to hear there 2 way radio if they are listening to the factory stereo at an elevated volume.I have hooked up many for the officers in our area.Just pin out the connectors at the radio.
  10. Hey, at least then you could say your getting to do a little fucking on this engines instead of letting them fuck you all the time.
  11. We replaced an engine in a 6.4l with no modifications almost 3 moths ago due to hydrolock and bent rod. This engine actually split #8 cylinder from top to bottom.By looks of the amount of build up in the turbo inlet and the oil level on the dipstick extremely high it had alot (and I mean alot) of fuel in the oil that probably caused it.Customer had service records to prove oil was changed regular.Ford gave prior approval for a complete engine and suggested replacement of the DPF.After engine replacement prior approval was obtained for a DPF replacement. Now RO has been under review for almost 3 months because we replaced the DPF that Ford suggested and approved.Makes you wander how much communication is going on up there or if they just want to hold that money as long as they can before giving it up during these hard times.
  12. You know what happens at Neverland Ranch at 12:00 midnight,The big hand hits the little hand.I wouldn't have let my kids within 10 miles of that sick bastard.
  13. If I had to do them like this all the time the dealer would need an in house chiropractor.
  14. Thanks for the input on this subject matter. It has helped me understand more how Ford is viewing situations like these and handling them.
  15. But from what I gather they don't mind trying to get the dealerships to tell customers that they are responsible for the repair if they have modifications hoping some may just pay the bill and go on.But if it goes to Ford's playing field they would rather just pay the claim instead of paying to fight a losing battle.Another interesting thing hotline mentioned was that if the truck ended up in another dealership later and that dealer did not report the modifications that they now have on record they would send an inspector out to see if the mods were still there and if they were they would question that dealer about them.It seems they know they can take money from the dealer alot easier then they can the customer. They are the puppet masters and we are the puppets.
  16. I had a guy bring a 05 f350 dually in today due to loss of coolant, rough running, and smoking heavily.Pulled it in bay and first thing I noticed was pillar guages, banks sixgun programmer, exhuast work all the way back, and k&n stickers all over it.Did visual checks blowing coolant out like a fire hose from degas bottle.Pulled egr valve and it was shinny as new from extreme coolant saturation and intake was also full of coolant.Would not hold 15" of vacuum at degas for even 30 seconds before it hit almost 0"We are just entering a warranty audit on diesels. I really haven't had a warranty diesel with mods in a while so I thought I would do things correctly.I haven't even torn it down and done an egr cooler off vehicle test yet and told prior approval this in the request form because I was going to list the modifications when I requested prior approval and new it would probably be denied and a waste of time.Requeted prior approval and listed all modifications.Within 10 minutes I had an answer.Baised on information provided by dealer you are approved for egr cooler replacment.WTF! I could have sworn that all the Ford memos I read a while back said no power adders or warranty denied.I call hot line just to reasure myself I won't get a kicked back claim because this thing may go to headgaskets before its over.Hotline says they appreciate my concern and honesty but they will cover the repair even it it is headgaskets. They said the only two things right now they can deny warranty on with a power adder is headgaskets with no egr cooler failure and internal engine failure.Maybee I didn't read the memos that were sent out very well.NOT!!!
  17. That is probably the road I will take.Actually heads in cab are not as bad as I thought they would be.My back just won't allow it very often.
  18. I am doing my first set of headgaskets in cab.I have done alot of 6.0l headgaskets cab off. I can tell you already I could probably do them faster in cab but the back strain is not worth it.I have done only two y-pipes in vehicle and it was over a year ago scince I have done one and I remember then I was ready to cut it out before I was through. What are some tips on removing one.I was just told I have to replace another one next week also.
  19. I can say I have had 3 of these senders leak after oil cooler kit was installed and they were the only three I put in parts washer. We use a Cuda machine for parts washing that dosent use any kind of harsh solvent. If you are familar with these they spray hot water and a soap additive but for some reason seem to affect these sensors.I take sensor out now and havent had anymore issues.
  20. I can't remember the last time Ford ask us to send an egr cooler back after a warranty repair and we are defenitly not a level 1 dealer.I know of 9 or 10 bad cooler we have laying in the shop right now.Only if it is an ESP claim over a certain dollar amount do they ever check and then they send a contracted warranty guy out.All he wants to see is an underwater test of the cooler and he is satisfied. They must be harder on some dealers than others. Our diesel warranty numbers are always borderline red which also seems unfair when you are a small dealer in the mountains where 3 out of 5 people drive a diesel truck whether if they need it or not. Most don't.
  21. I have had 2 trucks that would do this.Run good until hot and then shut off until they cooled down. Then they would start again.Had code p2623 in both of them.First one I had to get towed back to shop.Second one I walked to a store across the road from where it shut off and bought a 32 ounce water and cut a hole in the lid and squirted on the IPR valve every time it quit to get me back to shop.Must break down from heat like ignition modules in distributers do.Replaced IPR in both after I verified no wiring issues. They are regular customers and have had no problems scince.
  22. I guess a 6.4l during regen is like the old days whe my dad would say hold on son I'm gonna blow the soot out of her.
  23. The kit is not hard to install, but make sure you look for all the replacable orings when you put the first one on or you will look down and say damn were does that oring go and have to take it back apart.Instructions say refer to shop manual for dissasembly and reassembly but shop manual says replace only as assy.HMMM?
  24. I use to hate to take the rear bolt out of the early 03-04 6.0l.I have even used the trick with a long pry bar to break them out if I rounded off the 10mm head fighting it but for about two years now I have been using my small Cornwell 3/8 impact with an air fitting on the end that swivels 90 degrees and a 10mm swivel socket.I release the rear pipe and push it down while stuffing my impact over it.Then I reach around the drivers side of the turbo and guide it on to the head of the bolt.Hit the trigger and bam it is out no problem.Have never had one stick or round off since and there have been many I have done.Trust me it will fit back there if you cram it but you do need the 90 degree swivel air fitting on your gun.
  25. If it is one you can get an air hammer to the tops pop off real easy then remove the rail and the remaining stud screws out easily.
