  1. I agree with Keith. Right tool is essential for proper results.
  2. Oh but it's supposed to help free up time for more retail work in your shop. It's still gonna take you the same amount of time to do the repair. Now it just pays less. And saves Ford millions of dollars.
  3. I was thinking about this while I was mowing my lawn this morning. The automotive industry isn't the only skilled trade that is hurting bad for individuals willing to work in them. I think a part of this is coming from what's being preached at kids from grade school. The teachers and guidance consolers are telling these kids from early on that the only way to be successful is by going to college. When I was in high school I didn't have a clue what I wanted to do until the second half of my senior year. My parents made me take the ACT test. I scored high enough on it on the first time that the guidence counsler pushed hard for me to go to college.
  4. We've been looking for a lube tech and possibly a b or c grade tech for over a year. They had one guy on the line who had either all or most of his Ford certs and they didn't wanna pay him what he wanted. Even the wash rack by us is a sad story, they can't even find kids to work there.
  5. You would think there would be a printed warning about this. I looked and I didn't find one.
  6. I understand that, but I was still bringing it up as a question to see if Keith knew something I didn't.
  7. I thought the book says that you are not supposed to grease nox module connectors?
  8. Used our new vcmm to balance a driveshaft on a 17 mustang.
  9. I love it. One of my co-workers was worried about it marking up the pulley, but he used it anyway and found out that it doesn't. And the best part is that my buddy gave me all the pieces to build it. The only mistake I made was crimping the pipe too tightly. I will never be able to take it all the way apart.
  10. I take it they painted the frame? I never realized how big of a pile of stone comes out of a few feet of fieldstone wall.
  11. That's not a bad idea... except I would cut it and find a compression fitting that clamped onto the cut end and run it into one of my fluid filled gauges. Which makes me think... I may have access to yhe correct banjo fitting that can be put on a hydralic hose.
  12. Anyone remember Autozone selling people egr valves when it really needed a dpfe? Yeah they'll tell you what it all means and then tell you it needs a parts that may or may not fix it.
  13. I'm gonna have my parts guy look tomorrow. Btw I don't think that you can get 0w-40 in anything other than a 55 gallon drum.
  14. What do you mean you can't run diesel in an ecoboost???? It's got a turbo for pete's sake.
  15. Is that what is going on. The last time I changed oil the parts guy said the listing on his motorcraft supplier's site was weird. I'm not sure what I'm gonna run yet. I think we have some on the shelf yet. I might see if they will set it aside for me. At least in 3 jug increments.
  16. Any good hydralic shop can make a hose that screws into the test port. When I am working at home on one I use a mechanical gauge and drive it like I stole it. That's how we used to do it before that tester came out.
  17. That's an old Snap-on saying. My dad has that sticker on his box from the 80's.
  18. Yeah. He has a cracked pelvis, but otherwise will be fine once it heals. He got really lucky for landing on pavement at 30 mph.
  19. After you uninstalled ids to reinstall did you happen to run the ids removal tool before you reinstalled the isd software? What version of windows?
  20. What are you running for anti-virus? What do you have for a firewall?
  21. It's never a good thing when you see your dog fall over the bed rail of a pickup while your moving.
