Pulley Holder
forddieseldoctor replied to Keith Browning's topic in Tools, Computers and the Internet
You know, I never thought of the possibility of that happening in all of the timing chain replacement jobs I've been doing on these engines lately. Let me guess, he used an impact gun to loosen it that one full turn. When I was in Dearborn for the pts challenge one of the techs that is from a dealer an hour from me said one of the techs at his shop had one jump time when he cranked it backwards while putting the a/c belt back on. So make damn sure you don't turn them backwards at all. -
04 Downpipe in an 03?
forddieseldoctor replied to forddieseldoctor's topic in 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
It fits, but holy crap does the lack of foil and resonator make a big difference. That 03 turbo really is way noisier. -
Drove it again after the regen. Nox12 was still above the 50ppm that rd24 asked for, but the nox_aftertreatment monitor completed and the code did not come back. I drove it 5 or 6 miles after that and one of our drivers put 20ish on it and no code came back. The customer took it cause they needed it back. So time will tell if it builds soot again. I believe it was wet from the def it was injecting at that point and not a leaking egr cooler.

Finished ppt rd. It says to replace dpf assy based on step rd24 and nox 2 not staying below 50 on steady 45mph cruise. Dpf pressure is 0.11 psi at idle and 3.0 psi at wot no load. Egt's were all the same this morning and it came out of forced idle just fine. Waiting on regen and then I wanna drive it and watch nox 2 again. Tailpipe is spotless too.

Has anyone seen any ruptured egr coolers on a 6.7 yet?

I'll look on Monday. I was gonna throw in a hotline request with the pics Friday night, but I got busy and forgot. Yes it is a pickup. I was planning on a regen no matter what. It's got 900 hours on it and either 360 or 390 of them are idle hours. I will look at dpf pressure too. Any idea what's normal? I don't remember right off hand.

3.7L Timing Chain Idler Failure
forddieseldoctor replied to Keith Browning's topic in All Gasoline Engines
What is the reason for pulling the front cover off, on yours? I have yet to get inside any engine on a Transit and hope I never have to. It looks tight in there. At least on the F-150s, I can have the cab off in about an hour or less. I'm pretty sure there is a difference in space between the 3.7L N/A engine versus the 3.5L Ecoboost with all the turbo plumbing in there that needs to be removed for access to the front cover. I've done tons of timing chains on F-150 3.5L Ecoboosts and I don't think I've ever had one timing chain idler failure like the described above. I've seen and repaired LOTS of water pump failures though, on the FWD applications (where the timing chain idler goes on the RWD application engines). I had a 15 or 16 Transit with a 3.7 with 5000 miles that had a locked up motor due to a spun #4 rod bearing. Once I blew the front end off it was gravey to yank it out the front cause there wasn't enough room to slip it forwards to clear the trans with the torque convertor to drop it out thd bottom like the book says. I claimed to have removed the trans to get it out and the claim paid. -
Looking at a 16 with 26000 miles with the P207F. Pulled the reductant nozzle out and found this. It's black, gooey and smells like nothing. Anyone got any input?

Keith how the heck do you keep your hands looking so decent. Mine never look like that. -
I got an 03 with 400k on it with a cracked off downpipe. The 03 downpipe is obsolete. Has anyone put an 04 downpipe in an 03? I know it will whistle more without the resonator in the pipe and the foil wrapping. It's a fleet truck for a concrete company. The customer has already said they don't care about the noise level.

BLIS is available on super duties now I know that. I guess I forgot that the blis system uses the ms-can network. -

They run can networks to the taillamps now???!!!!!??? -
I save up the 3/4 used up ones for heads. They polish more than cut.

Not to sound dumb... but what do you use?

Block warped?

I got an 07 F550 with a bad pinion bearing. Got the rear end all reassembled and ready to go back in. I'd do another one in a heartbeat. Had to modify the pinion holding bar and make a handle for the torque multiplier that Ford sent us for the 1.0 crank pulley bolts.

Got to work on the boom on this today at my buddy's shop. Wasn't too bad except I had to work on some hydralic lines and some other miscellaneous stuff in the hole where the light is.

At home laptop recomendations
forddieseldoctor replied to batmantech's topic in Tools, Computers and the Internet
Especially with ram. I'm a huge fan of Lenovo's. I have had a few Dell's and I have come to think they are the biggest piles of crap. Every one of them eats batteries like it's going out of style. My Lenovo is 3 years old and everything is still going strong including the original battery. -
You don't have a big enough drive-on to pick it?

Excursion body's come up pretty fast don't they. How many miles on the idi?
