  1. No lie. I was removing the engine and trans as an assembly. The bus was getting scrapped. We were gonna pull it out the front but decided to cut the body off the frame.
  2. The aftermarket lock cylinders come with new keys. I doubt that Ford supports build your own cylinder kits for that old of a vehicle.
  3. We finally got ours this week. Not sure how I feel about it. Seems like the viewer and the camera are gonna be fighting for space. Anyone get to play with their’s with hotline yet?
  4. One of the window lickers at work was trying to program keys on a 98 ranger with lost keys. After wasting over an hour they finally handed it off to me. 10 minutes later with the good ol’ ngs it was up and running.
  5. You might have to find an old original vcm or an old ngs to get it programmed. I’ve run across this before on some older stuff. New interfaces are too fast for the older networks.
  6. It’s got a program in it…. But can it run without it? Or is it modified to the point of running stock is not an option?
  7. Friday night and Saturday’s project at my secondary employer.
  8. Got to look at this baby this morning. Needs an alternator.
  9. That is one problem that no one wants to talk about. The charger for the extended range F150 is 80 amps. Most older houses around here still run a 100 amp main unless they were upgraded. I don’t even think my 200 amp service would handle an extra 80 amps. The electrician who installed our pair of 40 amp chargers at work had to come back and re-work a sub panel because the charger had too much of a load for it.
  10. That is one of the problems at the moment. If the range was better it would make more people believers.
  11. I got to take my dealership’s F150 Lightning home this last weekend. I’m impressed with it, but not impressed enough with it to shell out the 81k listed on the sticker. It seemed like everywhere I went someone noticed it was the electric one and wanted to look at it.
  12. Finished it up. Customer admitted to short tripping it a few miles to work and back. I have never seen a diesel do that. Normally it’s on the 5.4 3 valves.
  13. Got time to finish tearing down today. Found this: The fact that it’s rusty tells me it’s probably not coolant in the oil. We did the last oil change 1 month before the cooler popped and he put about 1500 miles on it since then.
  14. I have an 05 F250 with a very badly failed egr cooler. The guy decided that he wanted to replace head gaskets and install studs right away. Started pulling it apart today. I noticed that the turbo drain tube had a milky looking film on the top of it. I removed the oil filter and found the engine oil is a milky gray color. The cooling system had about 2 gallons of coffee brown nasty smelling coolant but no oil in it. I popped the coolant pump out and inspected the front cover. I found a small amount of cavitation but nothing earth shattering. I have never seen coolant in the oil from a failed egr cooler before. Anyone else seen this from an egr cooler? Or have any other ideas on what to check so this thing doesn’t burn my butt?
  15. Go for it. I got the info from a previous hotline request. So there’s gotta be at least one more out there that did it. Funny thing is they use the same gear for the timing chain and the oil pump. And only the oil pump broke.
  16. Found the oil pump drive gear was cracked. Haven’t seen anything else.
  17. I’m sure it’s only a matter of time. Kinda gonna suck for people like me who uses my own pinpoint tests instead of Ford’s tests to diagnose stuff.
  18. My bad. I forgot to say that was red off road diesel. And yes it has gone up at least a buck a gallon for off road since then.
  19. Picture from a month or two ago.
  20. Well… they’ve been running around with some pos that one of the former service managers bought off of ebay that doesn’t ever give all the codes. So this should be an improvement. Plus I’ve been playing with one and I kinda like it. It’s faster than the ids or fdrs for clearing codes if you have to start with no saved session. Only downside is there’s no way to go back and see what you cleared.
  21. We got our’s this last week. I played with it a little bit. It works great if all you are doing is going out and scanning for codes or need very basic level of pids. The plan for our’s is that the service writer and the manager can go out and read codes before it gets written up without having to learn how to use the ids or fdrs.
  22. I had one on a 19 F350 a few years ago. Factory filter at that point.
