A reputable machine shop can machine a new slot for about 30-35 dollars. Usually about a hour depending on how busy they are. The pivot shaft on the other hand is something else. If it's worn your shit out of luck. We have tried welding and remachining, chroming, ceramic coating nothing works, the heat treat on that shaft doesn't take well to repairs.

Been seeing some repeat turbo failures due to FOD (Foreign object damage) Looks like when some of the turbos have failed the shop/customers have not been changing the air filters and cleaning out the tubes. When the turbos have let loose the turbo blows pieces back towards the air filter. Upon start up the turbo sucks the pieces right back thru the turbo. Have seen a few with smoked bearings due to not prelubing them either. We have started stating these things on our invoices. How do you guys deal with this?

Sounds like the kind of guy to use a shop air and blow out his air filter too.

Dwayne, not to sound stupid or anything.....This truck has had 2 coolers right? Have any of the harnesses been disturbed/yanked on when these repairs happened? If its intermittent I would be checking for any broken/loose connectors or possibly pulled wires causing a bad connection.

Keith do they have a delam warranty when they reline the tanks?

My turn......As most of you know I have a new son that I never knew I had as well a another son and a daughter. I have recently become a grandfather for the second time with my son Sean. I have been trying to play catch up with Sean but at times I seem to be lost. It's tough for me because I usually know how to handle most situations but this is way different for me. It's great to be able to interact with Sean but I really feel like I was robbed of a lot of our lives together. Thanks to my EX(BITCH). Of who also turned my other 2 kids against me. Cheryl told me when I filed for divorce in 1999 that she would make my kids hate me and I would never see them again, it took a while but she succeded. It has been almost 4 years since I have seen or talked to them. Sucks but I have to go on. Eventually they will come knocking on my door...... As for work.....REALLY REALLY BUSY.....Our website has taken off and I get calls and emails from all over the world, literally. I also have been recruiting for the DTS. Keith a guy named Duane from Proactive Repair will be registering probably this week. He is a really good mechanic and should have something to add here. He will need some help with the 6.0 but is really well versed on the 7.3's. I could go on being the fact I have been scarce lately but will cut it short..... Aaron good luck with the Storm repairs. Okay........ Tom, If you go with Pensacola's injectors, be ready...... When you see the 7.3 70 hp advertised all they are doing is extrude honing the nozzles and putting them back on the stock injectors. All this does is trick the IDM. It thinks it still has stock injectors, but pushes MORE fuel into the cylinders. As for fuel economy, NOT!!!! We can do the same thing but you will get a proper job done the way you want. There are different percentages for the honing process. Have you ever worked on a bike and put in different jets in the carb/carbs? Same principal. My question for you........ What do you use the truck for and how do you drive it? Are you looking for better performance and fuel mileage? Or are you looking for just better mileage? If it's mileage you may look at spending the right money and change to smaller gears in your axle/axles. Diesel trucks were meant to WORK not be grocery getters. I see this everyday and still ask the same questions. Now mind you on the class 8's we have other options for increasing the HP/Torque and increasing fuel mileage but not on the smaller trucks. Keith, For what it's worth.....For every 10 pumps or injectors that come thru my door 8-9 of them are from contaminated fuel, water is the biggest killer and lack of additives are from the rest. This ULSD sucks. The lack of lube/sulphur in the fuel is killing the fuel systems. It's basically been dried out and is causing major wear/scoring issues with the fuel systems. We have seen a great deal of business due to this. The CR systems seem to be the hardest hit for this. We are selling more additives than ever, even in the summer. We are having a hard time keeping enough on hand to meet the demand. End users really need to be educated on this it would save them time and money on costly repairs that really wouldn't be needed if they were using a additive. So far I have found that EZ-Oil works really well. We have sold all the common ones Power Service,Stanadyne and a few others but EZ-Oil seems to be working the best. All around good choice is the Diesel Aid plus Cetane D25-16. All the guys here have been using it in their own trucks and have not had a failure so far(Knock on Wood).

Yep, I'm still here kicking like a mule and feeling like one too. Gotten so damn busy and had a new grand-daughter from my "new" son and daughter in law. I have spoke to both Fordracer/Keith and Aaron and I have gotten both of Keith's emails, sorry I haven't responded. I am currently very busy with the warmer weather upon us. I have been dealing with all of the website dealings and all of the other incoming calls and walk-ins. I feel like I'm on a island and the only one that can deal with all of this shit. Right know I'm sitting on my sun porch enjoying a "beverage" and relaxing after a LONG day at work and getting the lawn in order when I got home. Sorry for the lapse in being around but I have been wiped out just about everyday and the weekends are crazy too.

I only went by basic application. Do you have the complete vin? They may be more than thought but I choose the diesel app. and thats what came up. I will post the Motorcraft numbers after that and we'll see what comes up. As for the pricing I do a ton of Motorcraft parts and have a real good FAD salesman I dealt with at the dealer and got a special deal with him to buy Motorcraft at dealer pricing. Shhhh thats not public knowledge though. I can help when needed and will do cost plus 10 to you guys only. Depends on the part I may be able to do cost plus 5 on some parts. The only thing is that anything I order is NOT returnable. Whatever I order is mine/yours.

Jim, It's funny you asked me this because my mum asked me the same thing, and I couldn't answer it at the time. My mum had gave me some really good advice..... If you don't like yourself and feel good about yourself then how can you share your life with anyone else. I was okay with her response at the time but really didn't get it thru my thick skull. I have since watched my brother and mother pass and really didn't understand it until my mum was gone. I realized that I am my own best friend. I have come to grips with accepting the fact that shit really does happen and there is nothing I can do about it. I don't make mistakes I Fuck UP. I try to learn from them and move on. As for my best friend next to me, Linda is. I wake up everyday enjoying life and ready to take on what comes next.
