  1. I just got in some test strips for fuel. I haven't had a chance to use them yet but have sent a few out to Keith,Bruce and Jim. I do have a few extra if anyone is interested. PM me.
  2. As long as the red sauce is loctite I don't mind. These diesels vibrate more than your girl's favorite/favourite friend. I recommend to everyone of my customers to get real used to using it. Especially if they pull it apart.....Better to be safe than sorry. As for the Cat's replacing holdown bolts....I'm gonna order in a few sets of the Ford holddown bolts and the Cat's as well. I will talk to my fuel shop guy on Tuesday and encourage him to sell them along with documenting the torque specs on every injector job, Whether a test, repair, or replace......
  3. Bruce, That is a very poetic statement...... I expected to hear something like that from Jim...... I agree with your statement on the labor, but I have seen many different ways of pricing out jobs. The way I have seen the most is to add about 30% to warranty time to break even for all of the unforseen problems to come. Usually 40% over warranty is pretty acceptable for a cash job.
  4. Update......Cleared codes and ran, still has a miss. Threw a P0300 now within 2-3 minutes. Random misfire now. Not throwing the P0304 anymore. It looks like it can be due to multiple problems now. My shops next throw at the misfire....Must be injectors, so they pull them we put them on the stand and of course....Perfect spray pattern and flowing great. We ultrasonic clean them anyways and now we are waiting for intake gaskets and seals. Parts won't be in until tomorrow. Other probables include bad EGR,MAF,vac leak and so on. This is getting old.....All they are doing is throwing hopes and wishes at it. With everything I do at work including getting deliveries out, this is causing some real static and the shop. To top it off our other parts truck went down with brake problems today. It's fixed now but I had to farm it out to get it done. My boss isn't real happy about that, but WTF I had to do something. Needless to say the Shit sandwiches are flying today.
  5. That's sounding like a pinched harness at the time of block install, maybe broken or misinstalled connectors.
  6. Love your comments Jim/Gym..... I just like to be able to assist being that these are all falling out of warranty. If we are seeing failures due to holddown bolts it would be nice to see. I remember a while ago that Cat. mandated replacing injector holddown bolts when pulling a injector, I just don't remember what engine......I think the 3126, but not sure......Looking when I get a chance though...........
  7. Now mind you I'm not saying to kiss her ass, but you may be due for a little Pow-Wow with the Chief, You and her/him. If this is turning into a common thing it should be addressed. Do it diplomatic. Ask for suggestions from them and give the same from you. Maybe there is a common ground you can both work on together. I'm not there and not exposed to it nut it might be worth it, if not for anything else but to actually voice your opinion to the boss. It might wake him to the little B/S thats pissin you off and help you. We all get called from what were doing but try to be a little more layed back with it.
  8. But what does it have to do with oil pressure? Or is this a coincidence?
  9. Are these vehicles outfitted with A/M stuff that might cause this situation?
  10. Alright....Somebody knows something about them. Will clear the codes in the A.M. and look deeper. Hope It doesn't go any further. Thing that kills me is it was running good and then it wasn't overnight. Thanks a bunch. Will post back tomorrow on my finds.
  11. Searched and searched online but no finds yet....Stay tuned.....Not done yet....
  12. Why or what would a low oil pressure condition warrant a Turbo change?
  13. So Keith did you donate your Golden Locks??????
  14. Jim, do you still have the heads? If you do can you yank one of the other cups and see what type of sealer they used when the cups were installed? I have seen some of these having the wrong sealer used and popping out. I don't know if it's been due to the sealer or the hold-downs. Be interesting to find out though. We use the Loctite 620 on 7.3/6.0/444/530 heads. Just off hand do you have a thread gauge to check the holddown bolts for possible stretching? I know it doesn't use much torque but I'm looking for a reason why this would happen other than installer problems.
  15. Drive it home???? It's a four banger with a miss. Drives more like a friggin Ruttman minibike now. I'll take a look at the other things tomorrow. My repair shop is draggin their ass on this one. This sucks, I'm expected to jump thru hoops for them and I'm getting the unwanted step child treatment. And to think they get pissed when I farm these out......
  16. Hey guys, scratching my head on this one. My delivery truck. 05 Colorado 2.8 L4 misfire on #4 coil pack. We just put plugs and coil boots on it 30K ago. Plugs were burnt as if it's been running lean. We also replaced the T-body due to a bad TPS. We got new plugs and a new #4 coil pack. It still has a #4 coil pack code and still is missing on that cyl. We swapped coil packs and still have the cyl #4 code. We inspected the harness as far as we could, no chafing, connectors are good and clean. Any ideas????
  17. Oh and please don't forget about changing your tires from summer air over to winter.......
  18. Yes sirs, I hear everyone of you. I try to live a comfortable life but still watch what the fuck I do everyday. I machine probably 10-15 fan blades a day myself, not to mention everything that goes on in our shop. I personnally double check the safety's everytime I use the Bandsaw or the balancer. I fucked up once(only once) and almost cut my left index finger off with a circular saw. I still feel the effects everytime the weather changes. My dumb ass, let my thought veer off of the door I was cutting down, for just a second to long, and across my finger the saw did go. Spent too fucking many hours and days of bullshit dealing with that bit of stupidity. I feel bad for Mark but at the same time I want to know what the hell he was thinking or doing that this could have happened. Safety comes first at our shop. We have had a very good record of safety here. This hits us hard. We have a program to be able to lock out unsafe machines or tools. Anything that looks unsafe gets locked out until checked for safety. I found out Mark was working on the bead blaster himself, of which is not allowed. There always has to be 2 people working on any of the machines at work. I don't know what is going to happen in the shop but I'm sure this kind of accident will cause a more stringent safety standard to come in to effect. I'm sure we will have some more training sessions on safety procedures. I am all for it if will help keep these kind of shitty accidents from happening again. I didn't want to cause any bad feelings here. I just thought it would be a good refresher for all of us to look around in our shops and identify potential problems.
  19. I would comment on this, But......I don't think so. Not right now. I'm going to stew on this for a while.......
  20. This one might interest you Keith, I think you said that you own one of these........ http://www.clickondetroit.com/money/24783382/detail.html

  22. They call him "TATER SALAD"!!!!!!!
  23. Well guy's it finally happened. I can't remember the last time someone got hurt at work. It happened today though. Mark is our Machinist/Cylinder head rebuilder. Our Bead blaster went down this morning. It is driven by chain and gears, the motor went out, and he was replacing it this afternoon. Was going good until he went to put the chain back on the gears, he was bumping it over to feed the chain in. Needless to say his right hand was a little to close to the lower gear and his index and middle finger went for a ride right thru between the chain and gear. It mashed his index finger and sliced the end off of his middle finger. He is still at the emergency room right now. I hope he doesn't end up losing any of his fingers..........
  24. If you tell us your getting manicures, You will definitely be under suspicion........
