  1. That plastic crap is.....crap. Quote: I am not overly fond of the wiring retainers for the harness going to the CMP sensor. That is from my long block build article and is probably the worst of them all as far as criticalness goes. I had to get creative with zip ties to keep the wiring out of the belt.
  2. Quote: DEF contamination of the fuel resulting in a seized HPFP which caused the gear on the crankshaft to rotate several degrees from its proper position and the engine mechanically lost time. All 16 intake valves contacted the pistons and of course all 16 intake pushrods were nicely mis-shapen. Cylinder #1 rocker carrier was snapped in two as well. Dear Lord in Heaven, that's a huge operator fuck up!
  3. The best place to do that is in this picture where the red circle is. You get a very accurate reading from the pump before oil pressure has a chance to bleed off in problem areas. Just remove that pipe plug and install your gage.
  4. I have got some time off at the moment and would like to drop by and see your shop, I can't believe how hot it is, 73 degrees yesterday.
  5. New engine or junk yard unit? If it's a used unit, check the 9 pin connectors under the valve covers for loose fit/disconnect.
  6. I know a guy in South Carolina that rewrites programs for his transmission tunes. I can check with him.
  7. http://www.jmesales.com/product/opw-21gu-mis-filling-prevention-devices,9120,7258.htm That link wasn't clickable so I reposted it.
  8. Most of the time it's the "WAG or SWAG" method of finding a labor time. This can be attributed to the awesomely wonderful used car department. They always want to install some plow off one truck to another completely different make and model truck. This makes for a serious abortion of a setup in most cases. The shop had 2 full days in one job, before the whole thing was scrapped. The new Fishers don't require any drilling on the truck frame but the blade does not come assembled so we usually charged a flat 6 hours.
  9. Gonna be around 70F degrees all week here. I'm out raking up the pine needles in the yard in a short sleeve shirt and sweating up a storm. Needless to say with this hot a winter here, I am not looking forward to the summer.
  10. Sounds like you got yourself a classic case of an egr cooler gasket not in correctly or turbo was separated and not completely seated when put back together. See if the egr cooler has been replaced recently.
  11. If that's the case, I have been rebuilding them things for ever.
  12. Turbo is in and she is whirring down the road again. Two things I didn't do that the shop manual called for: subframe removal and right engine lifting bracket removal.
  13. Quote: some noise from the engine. Like a type writer noise?
  14. Can't argue with an engineer, eh?
  15. I've always said from a mass produced level that the higher the power the less the reliability and the lower the power the longer it will last........the 6.7 has GOBS of power.
  16. Ford ain't never been to keen on using the oil pressure switch for anything special. I doubt they have started now.
  17. No rhyme or reason. Should come apart nice and easy the second time around. And don't forget that quite often 3 times is a charm.
  18. It's amazing how much power loss there is when one turbo is offline.
