  2. I was not aware of this trans. I drove the new Fiesta and thought the thing shifted really weird. The whole driving experience was weird from the time I left the parking lot to when I got back. Didn't put two and two together til I was told to take the new course. Kinda like when customers first started driving cars with CVT's. I like to hold the throttle at 2 grand and see how fast I can get it going without wavering from said rpm's.
  3. Dude, I been replacing lifters in "Ford's" diesels from the 1983 model to the '07 model. They are prone to break on anyone at anytime. Just gotta live right to avoid it I guess.
  4. Brandon, you mentioned ambulance. But is it an E-box?
  5. Took the web based training on this interesting little box, yesterday. Ford managed to take the complications out of a traditional automatic and at the same time complicate the hell out of a manual trans. Some wild (translates as a case of mild driver laziness) ideas going on in there, nonetheless.
  6. I gotta little black rain cloud that hangs over my shit.
  7. Excellent, another one in the books. Odd that it crapped out in 10k.
  8. Yeah it was kind of a day late and a dollar short, when they sent all those 7.3 tools.

  10. Never seen a repeat failure on an early style, but that doesn't mean anything. Did you put a cover on it at the sametime or look to see if the original cover had a relief cutout in it for the discharge tube? Got base oil pressure, I'm sure. I probably would just remove both valve covers and cap the oil supply rail hoses and deadhead to see what you get, first. If she builds plenty of oil, then you can chase after them frustrating leaks. Note: had one just a month ago that all 8 injectors were leaking profusely. It would run cold then piss so much oil out of them damn things that it would stall and not restart, til cold again. That one ate my lunch.
  11. I could use one of them bad boys at the ski resort gig.
  12. Quote: How much 'flop-about' do you see with the trans out and the engine running? She runs smooth as glass. Used to do it with 7.3's also but you have to make sure the trans adapter has a couple of bolts in her due to the starter config.
  13. ^^^^^Well yeah, why else would someone make a 2 foot heater hose out of plastic.
  14. Well it finally happened, I broke my first heater supply tube. used the search engine and found Greg's input on replacing the offending piece. Quote: Just in case anyone breaks that heater pipe, here's the replacement procedure: Remove the upper fan shroud Remove the fan Remove the 13mm nut holding the P/S pressure and return hoses Remove the 3 10mm bolts holding the P/S pump and set it aside Remove 2 8mm bolts holding two coolant hoses at the top left front of engine Position the lower coolant hose aside - twist it up into the fan shorud Disconnect the right side injector harness Disengage the crank sensor harness from the heater pipe Break the old heater pipe near crank sensor harness Remove 10mm nut holding pipe to the intake Fish the two pieces out Install: Insert the pipe, o-ring end first, between crank sensor harness and upper alternator bracket. Turn back and forth, Rubik's Cube fashion, to thread pipe into position Reasemble in reverse order. This assumes that the normal 07T07 recall is in progress, and the air intake, GPCM bracket, etc. are out of the way. If anyone has improvements on this method, please let me know... Be careful! This pipe is stupid fragile... It went rather smoothly, but still more work than I was doing to begin with. This was from over at the injector recall post from way back.

  17. I take advantage of the crap jobs. Mostly 'cause by the time they end up in my bay, every part has been put on but the right part (which is ususally the only one left). It makes me look like a gaulddurn rocket scientist. There is an old saying "the more you know the less you make" that goes around in the dealer circles. I can always put a spin on this, though. I always have something to do when all the other (younger) guys are standing around. Being able to work from bumper to bumper and wiping a repair order clean helps out. Also not being choosy helps. Some of the most raggedy ass vehicles, have turned out to be the best paying jobs. As far as watching brakes and ball joints flying out of other bays while I'm doing some crap diag. Or hearing a tech say "got my 12 hours for the day" when it's only lunch time, I'll take the experience of learning on the hard job anyday. It pays in the long run!!!!!!!!!
  18. Whats the preferred repair for these things? Well if Aaron had his way we'd be sleevin' busted blocks. Thank the Good Lord that warranty nazi job didn't pan out for him.
  19. I kinda like the new design 'cause it's robust enough to center the axle as you install it. That way it don't drag all the way down the tube and cram all that junk into the inner seal.
  20. The owner of this truck finally decided to pick it up Saturday. It's been junking up our parking lot for a full month now. Took more than one set of jumper cables to get that heap going.
  21. Only truck I have ever seen with the cold weather delete package was sold out of a Florida dealership.
  22. The 6.0l exhaust manifold gaskets are for service once the manifold has been removed. The 6.4 uses the same gasket but comes on them from the factory. I put them on all of them without any issues and we have some of the worst cases you will ever see. As noted in pic below.
  23. I looked up the term "post whore" in the dictionary and this is what I found:...... Aaron Captain Obvious Registered: 08/01/07 Posts: 2251 Loc: Wherever I May Roam
  24. I didn't even think of that certified repair procedure. I'm suprised that we weren't instructed to do that.
  25. You should know better than to ASS-U-ME , but I would say it's a good bet.
