  1. I have replaced quite a few popped head gaskets and cleaned/replaced too many turbos to count. All of which never exceeded 210 degrees EOT. All I'm sayin' is even if you suspect the turbo or head gaskets, keep lookin' cause you got somethin' else wrong. What's the temp of the top rad hose compared to the bottom hose? I mean the bottom line is this engine is not exchanging the heat it is creating. They can all make 250 degrees or more, but the ones that have working heat exchangers keep the temps in spec. So what are we talkin' here? Bad radiator? Cooling fan bad, water pump impeller busted, cavitated cover, oil cooler full of crap, t-stat? Given the previous history, I would re-examine those parts that were replaced and see what the concern was before.
  2. Good catch, probably wont see something like that again, but still one to remember.
  3. You work 3rd shift or somethin? These things can overboost all day long and it wont cause these high temps or noises you are having troubles with. They usually just have no power like a cat clogged up. How fast does it hit the 200 mark from being stone cold? Will it get that hot just sittin on the fast idle kicker or do you have to beat it up?
  4. My shop is run so poorly, I can't figure out how the doors stay open. Facebook is like a disease which has run rampant thru the entire building. I actually had to wait for an advisor to finish updating his wall before I could get him to look at a ticket I was working on. I went to the service manager to vent and he was playin mafia wars. Give me a friggin break here. Anywho, Mike did an oil change on a truck that had two lines on the ticket. He did not get to the second line which was a battery complaint and had the day off today. So the truck stayed in the shop overnight and the ticket was returned to dispatch for someone to look at today. This morning the truck was in the way and had to be jumped off to be moved out. Well about 3pm, I noticed the truck still had not been dispatched. So I went to the advisor and said hey you need to call the owner and tell him not to expect his truck for a while or even by the end of the day. He replied that it was looked at last night and nothing wrong could be found. I replied "THE MOTHERFUCKER HAD TO BE JUMP STARTED TO BE PUT OUT THIS MORNING, YOU FUCKIN NUMB NUTS". Like I said call the guy and head off any problems so he doesnt breeze in trying to pick his truck up. Well at 4:30 the owner was in the service department, thinking that all was ok, according to the night befores report. And the service manager was trying to explain what the shop policy was and how we normally dont operate like that. So he waited patiently while his truck was rushed in and out of the shop. While all this could have been done while he was in the comfort of his own home or getting other stuff done. All it took was one phone call!!!!!!!
  5. The water in fuel light strategy is causing pump failures? I would say that tiny frickin shot glass of a water seperator is the cause.
  6. Actually pretty good on my end for a change, went home today at the 40 hour mark, with two days left. Thats unheard of in my bay.
  7. Pull the engine and see if it has any melted pistons.
  8. Shhhhiiiittttt, I bought my air lift way back in 2001. Mainly to fill them damn Mercury Villager cooling systems. 'em baistards er a real kick in da dick.
  9. Uh boy here we go again. I got an '05 Escape dumping trans fluid. Get it in the shop and see the left axle seal is the source of the leak. I go to the service advisor and ask if he would please call the customer and get approval to remove the axle and take a look see at what is going on. I then explain that it could be a seal but I doubt it due to the amount of trans fluid that is dripping off the rear bumper and covering the rear glass. I further explain that the axle could be gouged all to hell or worse. He gets on the phone with the customer and says and I quote "hey mr. ________, well we got your Escape looked at and it's not as bad as you though. Yeah that is good. Well it looks like all your gonna need is a left axle seal. It'll run ya just over 300 dollars with parts and labor. What's that? Yeah we should have it done by today, no problem. Ok talk to you in a bit." He then hands me the RO back and says go ahead. I just look at him in disbelief (sp.). Nowhere was any of that in the conversation 2 seconds before he picked up the phone. I go and pop the axle out and the bearing is trashed and the dif is gouged all to hell. Now the trans has got to come out and apart. I get the advisor out and say guess what now you gotta call this friggin guy back up and tell him your a moron. Quote: I can't sit in front of my service advisors when they call a customer. Sometimes they mince an explanation they were given mere seconds before they picked up the telephone. Right on the money with that one Keith!
  10. 6.4 Liter HPFP kit As per the instructions, seal removal: And finished look:
  11. 400 PSI in the township of vermont, er.....I mean the state of Vermont (only 600,000 peeps in the whole state).
  12. Not checking the oil level after an oil change. I see way too many guys pump it out of the reel and slam the hood. I guess the correct amount made it into the crankcase. And then the're the ones that end up double oringing an oil filter or leaving the oil cap laying around under the hood and sending the car out the door. The basics can be the most difficult.
  13. Whenever I want to see if someone has been fooling with a synchro, I pull up the power balance screen on IDS and then undo a spark plug wire. It should correspond on the power balance screen, if it dont the synchro is most likely not timed correctly.
  14. Before you run into another stuck boot dealyyo, get yourself one of these bad boys: Stock # YA6845 Name Remover, Spark Plug Boot Price** $39.95 Brand Snap-on Country Of Origin USA Sorry no image. This thing is a major time savor and is tapered on the end to get under the ripped boot as it slides over the spark plug.
  15. I am staying positive about this powerplant as well. I hope it debuts nicely and holds together kinda like the mod motor did in '91. That unit ran flawlessly up until '99. I do still have some concerns about the decisions made with this thing though. Such as the idea to run the glow plug harness in with the fuel injector harness all bundled up snug as a bug in a rug.

  17. Quote: been a few years since i removed a case on an escape-for trans r&r Don't take the case off to get the trans out, it's a waste of time and energy. The trans comes out very easily with all that crap intact.
  18. I have noticed out all of fords stable, that the escape is more suseptable to cat damage with even the slightest misfire. It's kinda like the old 3.8's are more prone to rod bearing failure with antifreeze in the oil compared to other ford products.

  20. Thats a cool place. I opened the window then minimized it to keep looking around here, and Mike comes back to check on ya if you aren't navigating the site, pretty funny. Anybody seen the "House of a 1000 Corpses" DVD? The clown does the same thing at the main menu, friggin funny as hell.
