  1. Ummmmm........okay. 1/2 the braking is better than no braking right? I hope this truck isn't legally plated yet.
  2. Matt beat me to the punch. I've had two 6.4s that I vividly remember making noises that you'd swear it was a misaligned belt. You'll be amazed at how the sound changes or reacts to water being sprayed on the source.
  3. This might be classified as a dumb question, but does anybody know the acronym names of the various other screens on GM's and Chrysler's websites? For example, I believe VIP for Chrysler, and GMVIS for GM, is what OASIS is to Ford, if someone in the KNOW could confirm that. STARS is for Ford dealership employees' DNA basically that contains every Ford dealership one has ever worked for along with ALL training classes and courses completed, proprietary to Ford. What are the names of the equivalent webpages for Chrysler and GM (if they exist, which I'm sure they must)? So, www.fmcdealer.com is to Ford, what global connect is to GM (or some name like that???), and ....... I forgot what the name of the main webpage is for Chrysler (dealer connection I think???).
  4. I hope you're quoting new bolts as well. If the pan is that rusted out, I can't imagine the bolts will come out easily without a few of them on the verge of rounding out.
  5. I hate to say this, but this is the exact reason why I refuse to do brake jobs anymore, under FMPP unless they are worn down to metal. We just recently received a memo from our warranty administrator informing us we are now required to submit digital images before doing any brake jobs under warranty.
  6. Just curious if it's just me, but I've been seeing quite a few pattern failure types of various coolant leaks on F-150s lately. For starters, the 5.0L F-150s were leaking from the engine block heaters, that was either accessed by removing the front drive axle or the alternator, whichever method preferred. Then, we've started see a lot of Ecoboost F-150s leaking from the heater hose to degas bottle connection as mentioned in another thread, that has been established as needing the hose and bottle replaced for a 100% success of repair. Now, I've been seeing quite a few 5.0L F-150s leaking from either the upper rad hose to t-stat crossover tube leaking, and/or the water pump itself. Both leaks seem to result in a massive enough of a leak that causes them to arrive on the hook. And just this last week alone, I have seen THREE 2015 body style F-150 5.0L come in for a rad leak, exactly the same way the 6.4L and 6.7L trucks do, from the left side tank. Anyone else seen this or care to comment?
  7. Thank you for reminding me. A multifunction switch it was for me, for the win. And I was hoping to have my truck have a clean OASIS too, damn.
  8. Got my first one here under this program. It's really convenient that Ford has put a freeze on the old part number and the new part number is a third of the price.
  9. I've had two that came back leaking from the same connection. The first one came back the next day. The other one came back about 5000 kms later. Replacing the Degas bottle fixed both. Going forward, all will be getting a new bottle and hose.
  10. We've replaced two eCVTs so far, for an internal bearing failure of some sort, that mimics the symptom of a wheel bearing failure. Both were newer MKZ Hybrids if it matters.
  11. :haha2: You definitely will be CONDEMNED for not using a condom afterwards. Sorry, I just had to......
  12. How about running without the air filter (but with the MAF intact)? Kind of amazing how a little bit of airflow restriction drastically alters performance. Reminds me of an E-450 6.0 brought to us years ago from another shop, expecting me to replace the turbo under warranty. Took me all of five minutes to notice the cheapie Chinese aftermarket air filter (that THEY replaced) had bottomed out out the airflow restriction gauge. Install factory air filter, life is good again. That'll be one hour diag charged RETAIL. I suspect that you have the same scenario.
  13. I had one with a stubborn P207F that wouldn't go away until I replaced the SCR. It came back shortly after, with a P0401 that I needed to replace the coolers on, after already having replaced it 25000 kms earlier. The intake on this particular one was very caked up with carbon. After bead blasting the intake and going back together, I haven't seen him back since.
  14. The part number has changed up yet again, this time to Motorcraft part number RAD-61. Almost seems like they can't stop updating it. On a different note, has anyone else ever had a repeat rad failure on a 6.7 yet? I know there have been numerous repeat failures on 6.4 trucks, but I don't think I've heard of any on a 6.7 truck yet.
  15. Can someone explain to me why a set of front brake pads for a Focus from 2008 to 2011 body style is more expensive than a set of pads for even a Super Duty truck?!
  16. I have had one particular truck with this exact issue that set every network fault in memory come in on the hook three such times, for me to be unable to duplicate. Once on my doorstep, the truck starts and runs without issue. I have read through several such hotline contacts as well for a similar concern.
  17. Interesting. Mine doesn't fall under the build date specified in the article which I guess explains why nothing came up in OASIS. Now, to wait for them to act up again.
  18. This is on my own truck. A 2016 F-250 6.7 4x4 if it matters. Lately, my windshield wipers like to come on randomly without me turning them on. There is no particular pattern to what sets them off. And no, I don't have rain sensors. And yes, my wiper control switch is in the OFF position when this happens. Sometimes they come on when I start my truck up. The most annoying time was when I was on a long highway drive very recently when it wasn't raining, they kept turning on as if it was on one of the intermittent settings and cycling the switch from OFF to HI speed settings multiple times wouldn't shut them off, And then, it will go for days without issue. Nothing comes up in OASIS and no DTCs when I scanned all the relevant modules. Anybody else heard of this or have a possible fix?
  19. Ditto what Matt says. VINs only appear on '05 and newer trucks.
  20. The question becomes, would YOU do the job for 2.8 hours?
  21. I have done one or two. Those stupid cheesy, easy-to-break plastic retaining clips along with the sound insulation fasteners were what annoyed me most about the job. Pretty much as Keith explained it is how it's done. Oh, now I remember those stupid return hose "pull up" connections to the injectors were pretty annoying as well.
  22. Our toolboxes have wheels on them for a reason. Keep yours well lubricated.
  23. Ummm......last time I checked, if you want the one with the 700 ponies (which is the one with the supercharger bolted onto the already powerful 5.0L) you're looking at $98 and change Gs which is almost kissing 100Ks.
