  1. I know we have talked about this a while back. Having a 20month old boy myself I can only imagine the challenge of going through something like this. As you know already cherish every moment you have with them!
  2. We have been in the low 90s for the past two weeks here in the desert. No spring for us....straight to summer!
  3. Not to sound dumb... but what do you use? I start with a brass scraper and brake cleaner, then the scotch brite pad, then finish off what's left with a straight razor blade. roloc discs work great if your smart about them. I used them for every headgasket job I had and never had a repeat issue. I know it was frowned upon but again use your head when using them all will be good
  4. I agree with running a manual compression check on that thing, especially with the tuner being involved. I have had both 6.4 and 6.7 trucks programming cover up base engine concerns pretty well
  5. I would have done the same thing. I wouldn't pay that kind of money for a new truck that had the engine out of it already, yes its fixed but how do you know it was put back together as good or better then when it rolled off the line? Its one thing if the truck is a few years old and needing that type of repair but being brand new no thanks, I would go pick another truck just like it that hasn't had the motor yanked out of it.
  6. Looks like it shit the bed again this morning. Very slow if it will load at all
  7. I just upgraded to a Dell XPS and seems I did well with the specs. Win 10 pro, i7 2.6GHz, 16gb ram, and 500gb SSD. Wasnt cheap but runs great for a windows machine
  8. First one always seems to kick your ass, After that you will always remember. Ive come across about a dozen or so over the years.
  9. Oh I know the masses want it. Just like the bronco and ranger I just think its a bad idea as most of the general public has no idea what it takes to own a modern diesel! Think of all the incorrect fuel, lack of maintenance and trying to pull their house up a mountain from the new class of 1/2ton diesel owners.!
  10. Got this sold, Thanks guys
  11. About damn time however still dont think its a good idea
  12. as always this is OBO. Im running a VCMII now so this is just sitting in my office not getting used
  13. Im upgrading to the VCM II finally for our fleet so I need to sell my original VCM. This was bought in 2011 from Rotunda directly and only used by myself. As you can see from the pictures its in great shape including the cables. I might even have another H-406 cable floating around I will include with it. Asking 600
  14. We just had two 2017 F550 6.7 delivered. Several small differences but did not look at the pump setup close enough, going to check it out now and see if they are the same as the pickups
  15. We have the same hoist and its a beast. We have done all kinds of stuff with it
  16. Running a Dell XPS for my main work laptop which includes using it for IDS. Its not rugged like a toughbook but its much more user friendly for an all around laptop.
  17. Never have found a live cat under the hood yet, just had a rabbit come flying out after opening the hood
  18. I was just looking into upgrading to the VCMII soon as well to keep up with the new stuff. A fellow tech has a personal VCMII that he wants to sell since he is out of the business for good now. Its been used a total of 5 times I think. I might be selling my VCM I if that would be something your interested in. Just a FYI though you will need to purchase a license for the IDS to function 100%. That is in addition to the VCM purchase, Well I think the new ones might still come with one year included in the price? Ford raised the rates on these too, Its now $650 a year instead of $450 previously. I think the non dealer, non fleet accounts are $850 a year
  19. I'm very interested how these are going to hold up in the long run with the alum bodies especially in the mining industry. We have had all brands and the superduty does the best holding up against the abuse
  20. I was under the hood of one of the prototype ones a few months ago. Happy to see a better air filter design this go around!
  21. GM ring a bell? That was one of the great things about fords. The F150 and F250 where actually different trucks!
  22. I see a little of this as well on the fleet side, I have only done minor repairs on the 6.7s unlike the 6.0 and 6.4 days. I did have a very early 2011 6.7 torn down on my last days at a dealership but that was the last major repair had my hands on. We have alot of 6.7s running around in the F550s but they really have been pretty good to us minus the turbo issues and a couple base engine failures. I just replaced my first DPF assembly this week due soot from the tailpipe. So yeah I feel like I get less of a change to learn these beasts simply because they are not breaking down. That might be worse for me since its just our fleet we are working on as well. On the bright side Im glad Im not at the dealer fighting for work like some of the other guys I know!
  23. reminds me of the 7.3 days! Saw so many of those it wasnt even funny.
  24. yep we did that to every computer in our shop....We are the only department running without computer issues now that windows 10 decided to ram down everyone's throats all by itself
  25. 5years ago I was at 28 bucks an hour flat rate and that was on the high scale for a dealer in AZ. Thanks for the ideas on time, Im about to go to bat with one of these in our fleet. Got a out of state dealer trying to stick it to us for over $8k. Jokes on them when I pull it out on a wrecker and bring it to my shop to fix in house!
