  1. Yep this is really lame, The Focus ST is the same way, My brother in law has one and guess what? That fake engine noise BS has been full of bugs. Obviously people still want the sound of a v8 as they are having to fake it. I get the v6 ecoboost stuff but yeah I really hope the V8 does not go away completely. I love F150s but I can tell you if I was not able to buy a V8 in a TRUCK! I would be looking at something else. hopefully they keep the 6.2 around for a long while, yeah they have shit mileage but run great, much better the the 5.4 or 6.8
  2. Great post! . I get the scan tool tells us whats wrong comment all the time. Or the guys that comes in and tell me autozone said I have a particular code so all I need is the part replaced and no diag fee since I already pulled the code for you Customers still seem to think all we do is pull codes and slam whatever part on the vehicle according to what code we pulled. Well I guess they are partially right as there are alot of hack technicians out there!
  3. I get the aftermarket tire thing, especially when going several sizes either way. What bugs me is when your putting on OEM stuff on a like truck just like in this case. They are using OE wheels and tires on a truck that actually does come with them from the factory but just so happened this one was not optioned this way. I had this issue with my back up camera on my raptor. It was not optioned with one but the plug was there for it. Ford said no way to doing the programmable parameter to turn on the camera function. It would simply be a plug and program deal and on you go with all factory stuff but Ford said you cant do it. Being that I knew this was a BS answer I jumped on ebay and found a raptor of the same year but optioned with the backup camera. Grabbed the vin# and ran the AS-built data on both vehicles. Compared them to each other and changed the data on mine to the ebay vin data truck. Camera worked great after that. Now why couldn't ford add a parameter to turn the camera after the fact???
  4. I exercise this daily. I do not flash it around like some A-holes like to do, I conceal carry and if you didnt know me you would have no I idea. I work in a shit part of town as well I will not be caught without my firearm by my side. You can bet on 80% or more of the criminals are carrying a gun so I would like to at least be on fair ground if shit goes down.
  5. You ever worked with an asset student? Or UTI student for that matter. They always made the asset kids look good! There is always that 1 out of 10 guys that actually knows what he is doing though and picks up on everything quick. I miss giving the new kids a hard time at the dealer. !
  6. I have one in our fleet as well. It only has about 20k miles on it and sees mostly loaded highway miles. Its currently at a local shop being looked at
  7. I cant wait! I like the cuimmins engine and all but when it comes time to get it worked on holy shit is it a pain in the ass. Very limited ford dealers will touch them(typically only 1 or 2 in a large metropolitan city) Then if you cant find a dealer that will work on them you have to go to a cummins dealer because well they have the software for them. They end up being expensive, loooong wait times and typically dont care much that they have to work on a baby cummins motor. Oh wait then we get to go to a allison transmission center because none of the above will work on those either!!! I am looking forward to the day its finally all ford power under the hood of a 750. Servicing should be much better on the consumer end and help with down times.
  8. Not quite the same industry as farming but I left the dealer almost 3 years ago now. I do miss getting to work on the latest and greatest stuff and sometimes feel like I am a tad behind the curve but I still have my contacts at the dealer to make a quick phone call to and ask any questions I might have. Having access to FMC dealer with the fleet side is a huge help as well. I end up working on more equipment(PTOs, Cranes, compressors,) then engines lately but I absolutely do not miss the drama of a dealer! I do not go home pissed off every night worried about how I'm going to get paid for a job or being undercut hours on a warranty job etc. As far as pay I took a slight pay cut(compared to my previous 2 years flat rate) for a salary wage vs flat rate. However we all know flat rate is up and down and is great one year and shitty the next. I like the fact I always know what my pay is and can predict it. Benefits are not as great as a dealer but they are sufficient. Its a hard decision all the way around to make the jump, Part of my reasoning was I could always go back to a dealer if something didnt work out.
  9. Sad to see how many training centers are going away, not to mention any of the senior master rewards. Then ford wonders why shops dont want to send their techs in for training. At least maintaining it is pretty easy. I still keep mine up to date even being outside of the dealership.
  10. Let me ask chris, We have those sky train coolers hanging around
  11. If its a Chinese tire throw it away. Most trailer ST tires are shitty china made crap and you lucky if you get a year out of them before they shit the bed by dry rotting. You have 16s already so look for a good LT tire and call it a day. These will have plenty of load capacity and better rubber on the ground that will last several years vs the 1-1.5yrs from a china ST tire.
  12. have not had a problem in our fleet yet. Ill have to keep an eye out tho
  13. They used to come with the 2.5gal motorcraft jugs. Now they charge 5 bucks for the Damn thing. I always keep a couple floating around in the shop
  14. best drill bits I have found and used. Can be found many places online and brick and mortor http://www.norsemandrill.com/
  15. With the help of those that shall remain nameless I got this turd handled. Figured you guys might like some pictures of this mess....
  16. sounds like GM, I always hate resetting those things
  17. need a new camera man, pulled away before I could see what you ran
  18. I worked with a guy that did this in his OBS along with used motor oil. He justified putting a set of injectors in outweighed the cost of normal diesel fuel so it made since to him. I thought he was crazy
  19. I got this one done yesterday. The hose was the same for my 04 100mm cover that we ended up tracking down. What a pain in the ass tho!
  20. I will still buy a Ford 550 over the dodge for our fleet. We have a couple and they are good trucks but still have the headaches. Are latest one is a transmission valve body failure to the tune of $5100 to repair. Or I could by a new transmission for a cool $9000!!! really 9k for a transmission?? Oh thats right its the same one as the dodge sprinter pos! Thanks Dodge!! On the other hand I guess putting turbos in every 30k for $3000 isnt much better! Out of the 7 F550s with a turbo failures we have replaced 13turbos total.
  21. Matt, I am doing the newer cover to get this back on the road other wise there is no word on when covers will be coming back in stock. sounds like the supplier dried up or went out of business. I would be holding on to used covers if at all possible.
  22. Im running out of tally space on my wall for these damn things. Had another turbo failure over the weekend, this particular truck has already had 2 turbos replaced and this will be its third turbo in 88k miles
  23. I drove a 2015 the other day but no time to poke around under the hood. I dig the $65k dollar exhaust brake switch on the dash The cab/chassis vehicle where not said to get very much in the way of changes, hopefully they stop eating turbos tho
  24. its about $3.60-$3.80ish here currently. Its not terrible but still unacceptable IMO. I never understood the swing in price either and any little weather hiccup and its through the roof again for the next 6 months and then never returns to the rate it was before whatever raised it. Gasoline is only slightly cheaper, Actually I think 91 is a bit higher then diesel actually. I try not to look too hard when filling up the raptor on 91 though.
