  1. This makes sense, The cab and chassis trucks have not changed power levels with the 2015 pickups which have different injectors and pump.
  2. Didnt they update to snyc 3 recently tho? My 16 still has sync 2 in it and I have not been able to get it to display any text, notifications on or otherwise
  3. yep Its the iphone. The wife and I both have Iphones along with sync in both of our 2011F250 and 2016Fusion. Neither will show you the text messages.
  4. I love my switch box and my only regret is not building it sooner.
  5. eh its a bunch of bolt on parts so I would lump this into the "modified" vehicle category which typically always carries a high price tag. I don't think this one counts for seeing a 100k pickup truck just yet.
  6. I was not impressed with the power of fuel mileage of the 3.5L in the previous Gen Edge. Neither affect the reliability of the vehicle however
  7. good point about it being a 2 seater when car seats are installed. however that is just about anything unless you get into something with a 3rd row seats. We talked about that as well and decided if we need to haul other people other then our kids they can find their own transportation! I was quite impressed with the handling. We did the drive one program about a year before buying our fusion. We had it for about 6 days and took it on a nice 500mile roadtrip for those few days. That is really what sold us on the car. At least the 18s are cheap to replace. Those 19" on the titanium are EXPENSIVE!!
  8. Too many GM products. Both are 2006 2500Hd trucks and both are looking to have base engine problems. Put a fork in em !
  9. I got the wife a 2016 Fusion about 6 months ago and we love it. I did not opt for a hybrid tho as I really didnt want to hassle work possible of more repairs down the road. I actually almost bought the base 2.5 motor instead of the 2.0eco boost we end up with for the same reason. We plan to keep it and drive the wheels off. One of the biggest reasons we ended up with the fusion was cost. After D-plan, 0% finance and rebates it was stupid cheap. The comparable model edge was over 8k what the fusion which I couldn't justify. The fusion is quite roomy for its size. The truck is huge and I think it had more cargo room then the edge we where looking at. We have a 8month old baby and planning on another so hopefully two kids will fit in the thing when the time comes! Sport model is coming for the 2017 model year. That should be a cool ride!
  10. Been there. Recently had the same thing happen. He would call me with his "scanner pids/DTCs" as say Im going to just replace the EGR valve and see what happens "because guys on the internet said that would cause it". Concern was runs rough/misfire however he was insistent it was not a misfire when in fact thats exactly what it was. I had to politely tell him if he wanted me to diag and repair it that he needs to leave the truck alone or his diag charge is going to much higher after I redo everything he put his hands on trying to internet fix it.
  11. A/c Evap core on a 2008 F350 6.4Diesel. On the plus side its a great time to pull the random change and junk from the defrost vents!
  12. Yep. 100% agree! Its all in the work ethic and most of these kids coming in expect the world to be given to them and make the same kind of money a senior tech would. Sometimes we have difficulty in finding techs for our fleet shop, its either a tech looking for high flat rate pay for an hourly job so he can skate through the day, a tech that is a know it all at everything and wont take advice, or a green tech that has no experience at all. After battling with the above I have chosen to go with the green tech and teach him along the way, so far this has proven to be the best match for us so far. He is one of our more dedicated guys and willing to learn what we teach him.
  13. We have two in our fleet and I hate both of them. They where purchased at a time when there was no other options out there and the company needed a particular outfitted truck. Both of them have had engines replaced at 100k. One was due to a simply lack of maintenance and the other had a loss of compression issue covered under warranty. They both have got DPFs replaced not too long ago as well as a host of other small issues. Now they have about 150k on them and still running but who knows for how long. After the engine replacements I reassigned them to be close to our main shop to keep a close eye on them and make sure we are on top of services. Also as much as I hate working on them I'm glad to have them close by so we can avoid the hacks working on them when they do go down. If I can get 200k on them before having to get rid of them I would be happy on the ROI. We typically like to shoot for 300k+ on a diesel superduty but with the 6.4 I have no expectations.
  14. warranty crane work to replace a spacer under the turret.
  15. I had a very early 6.7 break the head of the exhaust valve off and take the cylinder with it. This was a F550 service body/crane truck that had to be pushing the GVW and beyond so its hard to say what the actual cause was. and yes I can not stand these guys on youtube. I refuse to watch them in fear of getting angry and trying to strangle the guy through my screen
  16. What cluster do you have? On the LCD it is in with the top selection after the compass. With the base cluster you just scroll through the list. If the IC is not updated I didn't think you could enable it. 4.2 cluster. Job 1 2011. My screen is blank after the compass. Well isn't that interesting...If you get it updated and it works let me know. As I said, I have never updated the LCD cluster and have been able to get the screen on 2011,12 and 14 MY trucks so far. So after a long 1.5hr programming time of the IC there still is not an additional DPF status screen I know I'm back a 2-3 PCM updates so its possible its because I'm not at the latest calibration level on the PCM We have another 2015 pickup here that I am going to turn on and see what happens. It should be a simple parameter change unlike my 2011
  17. What cluster do you have? On the LCD it is in with the top selection after the compass. With the base cluster you just scroll through the list. If the IC is not updated I didn't think you could enable it. 4.2 cluster. Job 1 2011. My screen is blank after the compass.
  18. enabled the parameter on my personal truck this morning however it did not add anything to mt cluster view? I have not tried to update the IC just simply enabled the forced Regen parameter
  19. I will check my Job 1 2011(May of 2010 build date) today with the 4.2 cluster That should give everyone an idea how far back this goes. For the average driver I imaging this is useless to them but I like to see this value to know what is normal. The first day of owning my pickup I installed the edge monitor so I could see the regen cycles. I am then able to see what is normal expectations and also change my driving habits to keep the regen cycles down. It also allows me to see when an regen event is occurring so I can keep driving until it completes on its own.
  20. with the customer drivability complaint on top of that right?!
  21. this is my setup...I did a custom tank in the bed that holds about 30gallons and does not intrude on too much bed space. I just plumbed it to the filler neck and ran a low psi electric pump wired to the upfitter. I also have a ball valve at the tank. It was about 300bucks total so much cheaper then the titan options. Only down fall is you need to flip the ball valve and pump switch to transfer fuel, worth while for the cost IMO I do agree these 26gallon tanks are absurd on these trucks!
  22. so far I have yet to change a 6.7 radiator. lots of 6.0s and 6.4s but yet to change one on our fleet of 6.7s my personal 6.7 has 118k on it and Ive had engine oil leaks(upper pan) and transmission(torque converter) leak but no coolant yet.
  23. worth every penny. installed one the day after I bought my 7.3 I also upsell these on every 7.3 I see
  24. And my co-workers think I'm nuts for taking tools along when I took my 7.3 on vacation last month. Sometimes I wish I could be naive as the average vehicle owner and not worry about all the "what ifs" on the road. I think as technicians we fear the breakdown after seeing all the broken crap in our bays day in day out. We can see it happening to us and want to be prepared, not that its a bad thing just one more thing to worry about when traveling.
