  1. Ive had this experence as well. I used to work a couple blocks away and as nice as it was to be home in less then 5 min its a bit hard to turn the work brain off in that amount of time. I have about a 30min commute now which I like. Gives me time to get into the right frame of mind before and after work on my drive in
  2. heim joints suck on a normal vehicle. They never last and are noisier then crap most of the time. They have their place just not on my daily driver
  3. The chances of that particular car ever being repaired back to the condition it was, prior to the event are slim to none. That, along with what you've outlined in the next couple of sentences are all the better reason the car should be written off. There is not nearly enough damage to his escape for the insurance to total it, they will fix it. One of our owners had a 2010 Raptor and got rearended by a 90Bronco that fell asleep at the wheel doing about 50mph. It hit the raptor so hard it damn near ripped the bed off the frame. Rear section of the frame was bent, back of the cab smashed in and shoved it into the car in front of him so hood, bumper, fenders, headlights, core support etc was all damaged. They where going to actually repair the vehicle with the first estimates of damage. With some convincing he was able to get them to salvage it as it would have never been the same after reapirs let alone ever have a decent value left Alex, You describe the very nightmare even the smallest accident can cause. I have heard some people have been able to get reimburnsed by insurance on lost vehicle value including the damage to the vehicle from the accident. I have not had personal experence however

  5. I have not had one in quite some time but I have had several in the past. Actually I have just fielded a couple phone calls from other techs that described the typicall ball loss recently. I beleive they ended up finding that was the case when they tore it down.
  6. These type of things really tick me off. If I was to crash my own vehicle thats one thing, for some dbag to sideswipe it sitting on the street is another. Sure insurance will pay for it and if you happen to find a body shop that acually cares about quality and not the insurance money you will get it fixed like new. However your value will decreased because the vehicle was in a "accident" even trade in values are affected now that people love to check car faxes. No matter how little the damage is if it says "accident" on the car fax people instantly use that to knock the price down. Then there is the headache of dealing will it all! Good luck to you my friend I feel your pain! If this was in my part of town it would be a 75% chance the driver had no insurance so your policy would be hit for everything.

  8. have you put a gauge on the supply oil yet? I know you said you did the fill test with the oil filter housing but what is the actual pressure? Worth double checking supply oil to make sure its good
  9. I have made it a habit to check the oil filter(and oil condition/level) on these 6.0s first and foremost anytime of drivability concern. It has bit me in the ass more then once. More then once I have pulled the filter and found the standtube melted to nothing due to a massive overheat.
  10. The raptor should continue, My orginal thought was it would be about a year behind so we should see a updated version for 2016MY. However since its built on the exact same line as the current F150 its hard to say what will happen when they ramp up the line for the 2015 F150. Will the raptor be put on hold for a year? Get the same body treatment at the same time? or shelved? I guess its anybodys guess at this point

  12. Air bags have their place but you do still need to be smart in using them. Wasnt ford offering these a dealer install kit when the 2011 came out? along with the ford 5th wheel hitch?

  15. Impressive to say the least! I wouldnt even think that would be possible. I linked one of our 6.4 failures to a lack of fuel filter changes, we only drove the thing about 60k without changing them.
  16. Ive read this story and could only imagine the headache this poor guy is going through. I have seen advisors and even techs take a customers car out for a test drive just because it was something cool. I was always scared to drive some of these cars simply because it would be my luck I would get into a accident. This guy may have the right idea by getting the word out about this dealer and his ZR1 online. Social media can be a very powerful tool as can be seen by those google reviews already. I hope he keeps pushing to get a brand new replacement and not some beat down trade in as thats what he deserves in return for their F-up I need to take my raptor in for a blend door actuator replacement before my 3/36 is up in a couple months. Im lucky to still have a inside guy I can trust to work on it otherwise I would probably just say screw it and do it myself. I dont trust people enough to hand them the keys to a vehicle I had to bust my ass to own.
  17. ah the problems of the north...I can say I have never run into a fuel gelling concern here in AZ but I am interested in the methods to try and prevent it. We do have several trucks that do run in colder climates. I typically recommend a anti gelling additive and that seems to help reduce the phone calls I receive anyway

  19. Will live and die by the GVW numbers for all our trucks. Yes we have been pulled over and ticketed for the incorrect weight on registration and being over loaded. We operate in AZ,NM,TX, CO,and NV and its pretty much the same story in those states. If traveling between state lines in a commercial vehicle its required to go through the port of entry. Most of the time ifs its a non CDL truck or obviously loaded correctly they will just wave you through but they have been known to ask for the fuel tax on something as small as a pickup. Here in AZ we get roadside DOT check points on occasion or simply a DPS DOT officer pulling over commercial vehicles at random. They check paperwork and do a roadside inspection depending on how arrogant the driver is. Hell they even pull out the portable scales if they want to be a dick. We register everything at the manufacture GVW and have a unloaded weight sticker on the dash so we know what we can load them in at. Any type of citation(traffic tickets, DOT complaiance, etc) even if its just a warning goes against our companys annual CSA scores, If we have too many infractions on that we could actually have our DOT number pulled to prevent us from doing buisness.
  20. flash back to the 7.3 days and keeping a cam sensor in the glove box.... oh wait I stil have a stash of parts in mine including a cam sensor, hpop head fitting, icp sensor etc
  21. yeah FMC dealer is a internet explorer only website, Anything else just gets it drooling on itself. I prefer macs as my personal choice but I have a dedicated windows machine for all my IDS, FMC dealer functions
  22. Depends on where you plan to be working. Are you going to be doing bumper to bumper stuff? diesel? front end? etc. If money was no object I would be after a laptop and IDS....

  24. I have yet to stud a 6.0, I have redone others work in them however. Typically its due to a poor install.
  25. yep, It took me a long time putting those two together. The only bolts I would fight where the ones someone else messed up. With the right combination of tools its was cake, then again rust is rare here in the SW
