  1. I have had that issue on several cab and chassis trucks...This one was a pickup however. Ended up fixing itself somehow. Driver had to take it across town that night and the next morning I was able to fill it as per normal
  2. Same here, It never failed that the FICM would take a dump in a different manner after a half shell replacement on a CP job. I always push the full ficm replace on a CP job and only did the halfshell repair on a warranty job.
  3. Tell me about the noise. Those guys bang wheels around all friggen day it gets real hard to hear at times. Never fails they get real noisy when your trying to diag something! That just goes to show you how loud that wastegate was...I did get this covered under DI btw. Thats ok, moving next door into another shop very soon and Ill be away from all those tire monkeys!
  4. I remember having the yank those engines out of the ambos! I do not miss that crap one bit!!! I have work piling up on me which seems to be the norm.... 2009 F350 utility bed I am building into a tire service truck(adding a gas powered compressor, work lights, hose reels etc...) New 2013 freightliner "PDI" outfitting for active service 2006 Chevy C5500 outfitted with a crane that needs lift cylinders on the boom and liftgate replaced 2011 6.7 with the wastegate KOEO noise and lack of DEF filling..... 2007 Sterling with a CAT with a boost leak under load, needs brakes as well Oh and a total shop moving project! Who wants to come work for me??
  5. So I went to add DEF to a truck I was performing a LOF on and got denied. I have a 55gal drum of DEF and pump it into a 2.5gal jug with the motorcraft plastic nozzle. It accepted maybe a quart or so and that's it. I personally added DEF the last oil change 5k miles ago and the driver has not touched it since. The cluster shows under half a tank and the PID shows 66% for the level. Somehow during trying to fill the thing thinking my fill hose may have been plugged up it actually filled DEF to the top of the fill tube. I know the tank can not be full but its not accepting DEF. I ran a oasis and got the usual DEF concerns but nothing about filling the tank. This truck does see the mine sites regularly which means it sees quite a bit of mud. My question would be is there a atmosphere vent for the tank? and is it possible to be plugged not allowing the tank to fill like normal?
  6. I love this site more and more now that I am away from the dealer. You guys and the information posted here have helped me out time and time again. Sometimes just a reassurance I am on the right track is huge in itself sometimes. I am a little behind the 8ball with the 6.7 now as all of ours are under warranty in most cases and even though I have a P&A to do my own warranty work they will not allow me to work on the diesels even with my certification level. I heard this noise today on this particular unit and remember reading about a similar concern here. Sure enough this is the thread and matched my noise I experienced. I figured I would do a video so you guys can hear it as well. This truck has 69k miles and has never had this noise up until about a week ago. Its a obvious problem and I think the SSM saying this is a normal noise is full of shit for lack of better terms!
  7. what kind of mileage do these have? So far I have not had one fail just yet but this is good info!
  8. no shit! cause that is going to put the fire out!
  9. Now that is a shit sandwich if I ever saw one! That customer needs to be handing that bitch back to the selling dealer
  10. Good luck with that. I was offered a foremen position in my shop......the pay offered was not even close to what I could do on a shitty week as a tech
  11. Done it. My last was a injector that looked like it came from the scrap pile rather then the rebuild bench. He was trying to tell me how much better their rebuild injectors are compared to the OEM ford stuff. I just so happened to have both on my bench and called him on it. asked him which one he would want in his truck! Didnt seem to phase him much, he still shows up every month or so....
  12. This sounds just like my jasper experience. They followed me over with my job change a while back and now trying to peddle their shit products on my yet again. I keep telling them I will never install or work on one of there shitty products again but the idiot wont leave me alone!
  13. I would own a 7.3(actually do), I would own a 6.0 of any year, I would own a 6.7 but I would never own a 6.4! What worries me for the future of that engine is the parts cost and availability, resale value of the truck is very poor, fuel mileage is shit and they are super finicky. Sure you can do things like DPf delete and tuners to correct some of the Regen problems however then you have the whole EPA thing to worry about....Personally I would avoid at all costs
  14. just ran into one of these new styles today, It came apart and went together pretty easy.Maybe I got lucky....
  15. Yep I have argued with guys on why this is a bad idea.... I might be putting money on this being your repeat repair cause. I have come across repeat HG failures and have found loose bolts during tear down
  16. I always correct the vehicle to operate as its was intended. That is the standard IMO. They need to be wiring the trailer to work with their vehicle and not the other way around. I have delt with alot of trailer wiring issues and each and every time its some hacked up mess causing the issue
  17. Ive seen guys leave the injectors in the heads as they swore up and down it was faster to just leave them in then to remove them. Really it takes no more time to remove the injectors and store them away from the action to ensure they are protected from debris then to leave them in.....
  18. I think the design on its own is great looking however its not "mustang" Its very fusion and taurus like
  19. All of ours to my knowledge have all had fin damage or at least the fins have run into the housings and ate themselves. Our trucks are not overloaded and I am up their ass about the maintenance and idle times. If we keep the trend up will be on our 5th or so turbo by the time we run out of warranty. So far I have had 3 trucks with 2 turbo failures each which has been the most I have seen and only one of those has 60k on it. The other two are about 30k now. I really dont know where the issue is that is causing us to have so many failures. Other then these turbos this motor has been kickass for us
  20. yep been reading some scary stuff about them. No longer will be the well styled car we know today
  21. And yet another turbo takes a dump. This truck had its first turbo replaced in July of 2012 at 17k miles and now it has about 34k miles. This one had the typical rotating assembly blow up The only new thing I see in oasis is a SSM warning to check the intake, exhaust and CAC for debris. I would think this is common sense when replacing a turbo that has failed in a mechanical way. This step not being done could answer some of our repeat failures however I think there is more too it. It almost seems like we have a 15-20k miles interval to them failing and if we had debris causing the failure I wouldn't be as predictable as mileage. From everyone I talk too apparently We are the only fleet having this issue on the west coast
  22. Having a badass shop is a really nice perk however if the work environment blows dog sack then its not everything. Case in point I went from one of the best shops in the city to a warehouse converted into "work space" but the opportunity couldn't have been passed up the old the new some guys think I went nuts
  23. Ive seen this the past few weeks actually. It has been worse the last couple days. Typically its during morning or middle of the day. Late in the day its alot faster
  24. why oh why cant we keep the econoline? This thing looks more and more like the redheaded step child each time I see it. I really wish ford would get away from the euro styling where everything looks the same. Notice how the interior looks very focus like? The whole thing looks very car-ish like the transit connect. Unlike the econoline that was based off the superduty
