  1. Damnit this reminds me I need my recert L1
  2. Yep I did that often. I would call it my post approval. I got so sick of going back time and time again for pictures of crap before even tearing it down when it was obvious what was wrong with it....
  3. Interesting. I have always cycled the crap out of the pump after changing fuel filters or working on the fuel system on anything diesel. I love when the lube kid hits the key right after changing the filters and cant figure out why it wont start That should be stuck to every lube kids forehead
  4. I would be interested in if it actually fixes the issue longterm.....
  5. At the dealership typically about 50hrs depending on work load, actual flag hours didnt always match that of course. I did have the weeks in the 40s however in the slow season. Now Im about 55-60hrs but do not work weekends for the most part
  6. One of the biggest reasons I left a dealer as most here in AZ will take money(hours) from you as they see fit. Hell I have had to fix other techs rechecks for free without a deduction of his paycheck. I would/will always stand by my craftsmanship and never expect to get paid again for something I messed up or missed during my repair but having so many people involved in your paycheck(service managers, service advisors, warranty admin, FOMOCO etc) I would end up loosing something somewhere most of the time.
  7. That is exactly right. Every cheap bastard out there is looking for the magical fix that will not cost him more then a couple bucks to repair. My lasted request was on a 99F250 with a V10 "cant you just clean the fuel pump to make it work again?
  8. It was only a matter of time really... finally now navistar can stop trying to sell us their trucks using the now ECR/DEF excuse
  9. hey I have one with that same filter.... AND the guy wonders why he needs a engine now after it ingested everything but a small child
  10. Feels good to finally reach that goal doesn't it? I had a nice head start when I finished ASSET in 2002 but did not become a SR until a couple years later. The dealer I was at would never send me to the remaining classes I needed let alone the ASE required classes. On top of that I never believed I deserved that status yet being green out of school. I was a little disappointed in loosing that SR title when I left the dealer for good last year, however I was pleased to find out FOMOCO will still support my training and certs through my fleet without any rewards or recognition which is fine by me
  11. Its been about 110 here this past week. The start of the monsoon season is here too so the humidity is on the rise. Last night it was still 100 degrees out about 8-9pm
  12. I am having my doubts about the reliability of the message center oil change soon message. We had a fleet truck that went 6k miles, a year of time, and about 1600hrs idle time and never popped up the message to get it serviced. I checked the ids to see if it was the driver ignoring the message but from data it never seemed to warn him in the first place. Based on hours alone it should have had several oil changes during that time. That situation makes me wonder about the rest of them and how accurate they are
  13. Kelly, I can help you out with this as I have done the very same thing Its taken a little while but I am pretty damn close to a dealer level with my own P&A code, Full IDS,FMCdealer, web and classroom training. There are some fees associated with all this but its the same as a dealership would pay. If you are a primary ford fleet and continue to buy ford vehicles this is the only way to fly. I even retain my senior master status but I will not receive any of the "rewards" so to speak. My STARS ID is active and shows senior master which is all that matters
  14. I show a show on the F150 plant with the employees wearing those shirts so I assume it was a licensed ford product
  15. It ALWAYS just a matter of time before someone spills the beans on the shortcut trying to look like a smart guy to FOMOCO then everyone looses out on the shortcut
  16. you must have one badass saw to cut those parts the way you do!
  17. At first I was wondering what in the hell a T4 was? Then I realized its our 1099 version here in the states. gotta love winning free stuff and having to pay taxes on the winnings. I was kinda pissed when I got the ford cruise and I had to pay taxes on a 3-4k cruise
  18. I have been looking at AE for our other makes in the fleet. I have a IDS for our fords however it does me no good for the GMs and dodges of the fleet
  19. yep. All the time especially in the summer months typically has a/c performance issues with that too More so then the fan wires being cut.
  20. make sure your on 79.01 to program for the 12b34
  21. The best is when the customer thinks its funny to stand there and watch you working on his hot engine while making smart ass comments on how he shouldn't have to wait around for his engine to cool so I can work on it. After having him tell me I was a !?@#%! for wanting to let it cool a bit to do a injector I called up the service manager to remove the guy
  22. Glad to see something official on this issue finally. In our fleet we have had 3-4 turbo failures in 2011 F550s so far. At the time (4-6months ago)it was all supposed to be under investigation with a rumored recalibration to fix it. Better warm up my IDS for programming!
  23. I once changed a complete y-pipe assembly in 45mins, mid summer with 110* ambeint temp after the customer drove about a 1hr to get to the shop. I was not very happy with that event hence the 45min repair time. That turbo and y-pipe where not cold to say the least!
