  1. what is with that web site,it is like every post is about trashing the dealer they took it to for work,my dealer did this, my dealer did that,my dealer will not commit fraud so I can get arp head studs. I don't know, it just seems unfair
  2. I have an 2006 6.0 that has a bad cam follower, going thru the prices and the short block warr. price is $7200.00,this is almost twice the price from about 4 months ago(I think around $4200.00),is this just wear I work or is that just the new price all around? It makes staying under cost cap impossible on some repairs
  3. just caught that post,I hope that tech is just joking around
  4. I don't think ford would do that,I hope,I have never put head studs in(just tore down an engine that had them, see my pictures) but I think that you would have to remove the enigne or lift the cab to put head studs in,I don't see ford making a new service procedure or adding time to the labour time to do this,I hope they don't just for JIm's reason that everyone one and his dog would want us to install them, and a set of hypermax gaskets that can hold 500 hp, again see my pictures
  5. Why do some techs use the Ford message board to tell Ford that they need to cut the labour times,I was just on it today and there is a tech bragging about how fast he can do headgaskets on a 6.0,I can just see it now, a new tsb and a new cut time, just look what happened to the egr cooler hose, they probably will not change the time but I guess what I am trying to say is that it is nice that he can do headgaskets fast but can he tell somebody other than big brother? just my two cents
  6. check this out,www.internationaltrucks.com/DMAXX/,real cool truck with what looks like the super duty spec. 6.4 engine, does anyone know if there are going to make this truck? or is it just for show
  7. got to love days like that, murphy's law hit's hard somethime
  8. Jim, go to http://www.protechnician.com and you can read 08-4-08,thats what I do to see tsb's befor they translate them for us canadians
  9. Is this for real, did not think Ford would do something this funny,I like it!!!
  10. I see what saying and understand the hotline issue,I was not putting them down I know they have alot on there plate.
  11. thats alot of reading, you can't flat rate read this one or you will end up only getting 14.1 hours to do headgaskets,I like the flow chart, almost every way will have you replace the headgaskets
  12. the other diesel tech in are shop had that code, same thing called hotline and they got him to replaced ebp sensor + tube and map sensor but the pinpoint test would have you look at the actuator, the truck had come in 2 times befor and he could not find anything wrong till he called hotline, one thing to note is that when he took the map sensor out it was cover in black crap, the truck has not been back yet. Hard to get info from the hotline on stuff like that
  13. How are the Superdutys selling? we don't seem to be selling alot of them, back in 2005 and 2006 it seemed like we were selling one a day, and most of them were diesel
  14. I guess it will about ten years in the trade now ,started in 1997 changed oil for 3 years, took one year off to try university, did not like that so I went back to the trades,re started at the dealer I am at right now, been about 6 years, I am happy to pull wrenches to make my living
  15. how is that station is open? my firends dad had a 01 gmc diesel,he told them to with up with diesel, about one block later it stop running, truck was filled with gas and the gas station payed a $10 000 bill,I don't how it works in the US but I would think the station would have to cough up some money,oh well that station better stop selling that fuel befor they go bankrupt!
  16. thanks for the input!,my shop is going to have to put out so money to get this stuff,we need a crane and we don't even have engine stand!, oh well cost of doing business and it is hard to build a short block on the ground, one more question, you have to take the oil cooler off to use the brackets on a 7.3,right? thanks again
  17. what type of engine crane works with the engine lift brackets,we just got the brackets and it does not fit on old engine crane that we have, what do you guys have? and what is the best one for the money? thanks
  18. did you check oil level? crankcase overfilled or filling, when 4.6 and 5.4 's came out in f-150 in 97, if they where over filled I think they would run funny
  19. I don't know how to up load pictures to this post, but I have some pictures of the tear down in my photo post, the hypermax head gasket failed, somebody is going be out a couple of dollars
  20. thanks, I will have a look at it in the a.m. , would they just have welded it up and not replaced the egr cooler thinking they stopped it from leaking? but know the weld let go and it is leaking agine? I not sure I get why people are doing this, is it going to stop it from leaking into the exhaust or stop coking
  21. ya,it is welded on the y-pipe part, and the welds did not look that good, and how did you know it just got head studs put in?
  22. I am working on a truck that came in for coolant loss,2004 late build, truck will not not start, coolant in the cyclinders, pull the glow plugs and crank it over coolant comes out the right bank, egr cooler leaking right?,so befor I replaced it I check oasis and found that another dealer just put one in about 6000km ago but no oil cooler,so now I am replaced the egr cooler and oil cooler but when i removed the egr cooler I looked at the inlet for the egr cooler and it is welded shut,so I called the other dealer to see if they know about it and the did, they told me they are just experimenting,I do not know what is going on at that dealership but I am second guessing my self now,the egr cooler was wet at the back of the cooler but how is the coolant getting in the cyclinders if that pipe is welded shut? not too sure what to think about this one? what do you guys think?
  23. just had one like you did, take a look at my photos there is a cam sensor that got hit by the cam pin,I put a shortblock into it and was under cost cap so I did not have to get approval for it
  24. don't do it the way the book would have you do it,order one clamp and one bolt because it does not come with a bolt in the clamp kit, half of the time it takes you to do the job is spent trying to get the braket and the thermostat hosuing out,I have a hard time getting the themostat housing out and in
  25. thanks,I see what I missed now,I was looking at the reman time + rnr
