Does anyone else find it hilarious how there is at LEAST one broadcast message regarding the Transit Connect EVERY WEEK? I think 7 on one page was the highest that I saw. Lots of confidence in that product!

IQA stands for Injector Quantity Adjustment, from what I can see at the bottom of the screen there.
-
You mean like this?

Spin them FORWARD till the fucking THREADS haul out of the fucking DPF. FIX IT NOW, FUCKERS!
-
Good to know. Now I'll need to bill out clamps and all that shiz.
-
it's not on an "F" series, but it may be pedestal "REPLACE" in which case use MT plus the pedestal removal op code

You're gonna have a little movement in it on the bench, at least any of the ones I've seen. Any time I've had the HPOP cover off and had any sort of hotline involvement I have been instructed to replace the STC fitting with the updated 1-piece fitting.

So a truck with a leaky EGR cooler is gonna fail?
-
Hey fellers -- how are you claiming the replacement of the housing and what parts are you **ahem** removing to do so? I know how I do it -- but I can't seem to find a cut-and-dried procedure for the housing removal in the WSM -- I'm not sure if the vert cooler has to come off or not.

I wear a 13, Brad.
-
I have had several with the cover with a witness mark from the STC fitting coming apart -- little tweak of the branch tube and back together.
-
R&R pedestal could be claimed too, couldn't it?
-
Depends on what time of day it is, and Knapp's is FOUR hours from Toronto, Brad! <insert penguin photo here>

With the body lifted up off the frame does that mean we can get the rocker covers and injectors out without pulling motor mounts?

Where's your customer from Mike?

So I put a set of rear axle clutches in a dually for a customer of mine. Pretty good guy, he's really happy with the work, happy his truck was fixed right, fast, no repeat concerns, it's all good. In chatting with him, he tells me he makes custom stuff, I check out his shop, they do water jet cutting and general machining, it's beautiful work. The only thing he tells me he can't cut is tempered glass. So my wife has this store where they have all sorts of custom pet goodies -- leash hooks with your dog's name engraved in them and stuff like that, all sorts of cool shit. She has taken over this business from another person, and a lady ordered this leash hook thing with her dog's name in it quite some time ago, apparently -- and it has failed to show up. I give my buddy a call, and run the idea by him, and he goes yeah no problem -- I can help her out of a jam. He goes to the store, grabs an example of what she needs made, and says we'll see what I can do, and oh -- stop by tomorrow, I have something for you too. So, he calls today -- stuff is all done. I ask him, how long did that take to make? SIX MINUTES. And the previous supplier couldn't make this in like 90 days or more. So he says, oh by the way, here's something for you: License plate frame for my truck. That fucker is AWESOME. All's I need is a piece of lexan to put between the frame and the plate to keep the plate good and clean. So, after he gives me and Amanda all the goods, she says, well, what do I owe you for making the dog pieces for me? He says "No big deal, don't worry about it." Holy shit dude -- gotta owe ya something. Nope he says, won't take anything. Super good guy, helped my wife out of a jam, on his own spare time, and did it for the benefit of helping someone else, not to make a buck which is a damn rare thing anymore.

That is also our only exception. If we're servicing your truck regularly, no issue. Current truck in my bay for hard start cold. Injectors don't rattle cold. Only oil change receipt he can provide is at 49k km. got 138k km on it and 3200 hours. *sigh*

Hey, why did you shovel out around that? Why not just light it, put 'er up on the tall heat sprocket, and let' er eat for a couple hours to thaw all that shiz out?

'P' Rated Tires on a Truck That Should Have 'LT'
Aaron replied to mchan68's topic in The Water Cooler
^^^ I think the best thing, is when you tell a customer -- Hey, your tires are on the wrong side of your car, without any other explanation...just to see the look on their face -
You wanna know what makes it better? We've sold TWO 6.0 Econolines at my store. My SM told me today: "If you're gonna lose your fucking shirt on something like that, I'll tell them to take it back to where they bought it from, if you don't want to fix it. No point in going into something knowing you're gonna get thrown under the bus for the labor time...do not use with any other labor operations. Nice."

An extra 1.6 to change BOTH heads instead of one. That deck surface will be good and clean. I can see a lot of 'stream lined' diagnosis happening here.... "Oh fuck -- fuel in coolant. needs a pair of heads"

TSB 09-26-1 6.0L DIESEL FUEL IN ENGINE COOLANT DIAGNOSTICS - BUILT ON OR BEFORE 9/30/2008 Publication Date: December 17, 2009 FORD: 2003-2005 Excursion 2003-2007 F-Super Duty 2004-2008 E-350, E-450, E-550 This article supersedes TSB 08-23-8 to update the Service Procedure. ISSUE: Some 2003-2007 F-Super Duty 250-750, 2003-2005 Excursion and 2004-2008 E-Series vehicles built on or before 9/30/2008 may exhibit fuel in engine coolant, due to leaks in the cylinder head fuel injector area. Symptoms may include fuel in engine coolant and coolant expulsion from the degas bottle. ACTION: Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition. SERVICE PROCEDURE Inspect the degas bottle for evidence of fuel in the engine coolant and not oil or combustion gases. If diesel fuel is present, refer to the following Service Procedure. If not, follow normal diagnostics and/or other applicable articles. NOTE: IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO ENSURE A COMPLETE FLUSHING OF THE ENGINE COOLING SYSTEM IS PERFORMED TO REMOVE ALL CONTAMINANTS FOLLOWING REPAIR. Drain coolant from cooling system. NOTE: FAILURE TO DRAIN THE COOLING SYSTEM PRIOR TO PRESSURIZATION WILL RESULT IN AN INABILITY TO DIAGNOSE LEAK SOURCE. Remove all injectors from both cylinder heads. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 313-04C. Wipe injector bore clean of oil and fuel. Fit the cooling system pressure tester, refer to WSM, Section 303-03. (Do not add coolant) Apply 10 psi (69 kPa) of air pressure to sealed cooling system. It is suggested to use a hand operated pressure tester or regulated shop air with tee in degas hose to degas bottle. NOTE: FAILURE TO DRAIN THE COOLING SYSTEM PRIOR TO PRESSURIZATION WILL PREVENT BUBBLES FROM FORMING WHEN SPRAYED WITH SOAP AND WATER SOLUTION. Spray a 50/50 mixture of dish soap and water generously inside each injector bore. Ensure cylinder head injector bore casting is coated with a soap layer. Inspect each injector bore for bubbles. A light and mirror or bore-scope may aid in pinpointing a leak location. Most common area is between the two injector fuel sealing O-rings in the sealing area on the side nearest the cylinder glow plug. (Figure 1) Figure 1 - Article 09-26-1 Replace cylinder head if leaking through casting. Refer to WSM, Section 303-01C. Flush cooling system, refer to other applicable service bulletins for proper cooling system flush procedures. 'P' Rated Tires on a Truck That Should Have 'LT'
Aaron replied to mchan68's topic in The Water Cooler
Easy. Call the thing in from a payphone, and say the guy is swerving all over the road like he's impaired, and the truck doesn't look very safe, either.
