Is it indicating a low tire or a tpms fault? I beleive the ford system puts light on steady for a low tire and flashes it for a system fault, not sure if dodge is the same. Weve had a run of bad sensors lately, since it got cold (-20`c) Im thinking the sensor batteries are crapping in the cold weather.

Quote: Don't you guys love it when you hear on the radio commercials when dealerships claim that have all the latest state of the art equipment. I used to laugh my ass off at that one. Yeah, i get a good laugh out of that one, almost daily.

I absolutely hate doing things with out the correct equiptment, but i also try very hard to correctly repair every vehicle I touch. I cant handle "not being able to do the job". Its hard to explain to the customer that the dealer isnt equiped to repair the vehicle the dealer sold them. We are going thru this with a customer with a (6.0l) cube van that he bought from our store. Our shop doors are a little under 9 feet high. No cube vans fit in. Now he is having problems with it, and we cant work on it. He is threatening to sue.....I stay out of it at this point, as i agree with him. We are also dealing with a worn out hoist, that lifts crooked, wont lock, and a few other wear related problems. The pos is 19 years old, and managments response is, it'll cost HOW MUCH to replace?

Just made me think of my buddy with an 03 dodge diesel, 6spd. Had a rmst put in at a&b sound. They fugged something up, it started in gear one day and pushed his garage off its slab.

Stalling on Acceleration AND Deceleration
cbriggs replied to Keith Browning's topic in 7.3L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
I recently had a 6.0l with 15/40 in it, at -20`c could only reach 65rpm with a 1700 amp booster and a 90 amp battery charger on it. ( and good batteries in it) -
I made a bleed tool out of some old fuel guage parts, fits on shrader and has a 24" hose and shutoff valve. Thread it on, let it run koeo once, fire up with it open for 20 seconds or so, then remove.

Frequent Regen Diagnostic Tip
cbriggs replied to Keith Browning's topic in 6.4L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
45000 ish kms on it, 12000 on a replacement dpf, i think it was just shy of 900 hrs. I'll have to check again tommorow. I tried a maf sensor on saturday, but no difference. -
Quote: My opinion on cab removal is if you pull the cab off I shouldnt be able to tell it was removed when I get the truck back. I dont know maybe I am too picky. . . . That is my opinion / standards on every repair, but especially on cab removal. Most customers are sceptical of this method of repair to start with, no need to make them right...

I think it boils down to the fact that the upper managment of most dealerships has almost 0 experience in a service dept, let alone a shop environment. (And, i am thinking very hard about changing employers here promptly. Put out a resume last week.)

Does your 96 have pwr locks already? if so, why not put in a remote start sytem/ rke combo? Otherwise most alarm system manufacturers have rke kits available. I put a "black widow" rke setup in a 95 chevy i had, i think it was around $100 at the time. Mind you, that was like 8 years ago...

If the stuff says warn on it its probably a removeable winch setup. Ive seen a few of these. Try warns website for wiring diagrams. The last one i had cab off i forgot to reconnect the trigger wire for the relay. (fell down under batt box-- out of sight)

Frequent Regen Diagnostic Tip

Quote: Quote: 2904 - 2008-2010 F-SUPER DUTY - P2463 AND P246C CODES WILL NOT CLEAR SOME 2008-2010 F-SUPER-DUTY MAY EXHIBIT DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES P2463(DPF RESTRICTION-SOOT ACCUMULATION) AND/OR P246C(DPF RESTRICTION- FORCED LIMITED POWER) THAT WILL NOT CLEAR USING IDS OR MAY RETURN WITHIN LESS THAN 100 MILES FOLLOWING REPLACEMENT OF THE DIESEL PARTICULATE FILTER(DPF). THIS CONCERN MAY BE DUE TO MAF SENSOR CONTAMINATION. VISUALLY INSPECT MAF SENSOR FOR DEBRIS (DIRT/OIL) AND FOREIGN OBJECTS. PERFORM MAF SENSOR PCED PIN POINT TEST J TO CONFIRM SENSOR FUNCTIONALITY. PERFORM PIN POINT TEST RB TO VALIDATE DPF FUNCTIONALITY. CONFIRM AIR FILTER, FILTER LID, PCV PORT AND ALL ATTACHING HARDWARE ARE CORRECTLY INSTALLED AND LATCHED. ENGINEERING INVESTIGATION IN PROGRESS. MONITOR OASIS FOR FUTURE UPDATES. I have one of these in my bay right now. Cannot clear p2463 and p246c. Clear codes, engine runs for about 3 seconds and then cel and wrench light come back on.It is a forced limited power strategy as well, so it renders this loaded f550 useless. DPF staus pid reads clogged. Tried to run manual regen ( which is hard at -20`c i found out, cant keep downsteam egt and frt hot enough to run) but it wont run cuz theres trouble codes. After doing the 300 second dpf assesment, the pid now reads partially loaded, but it still triggers codes immeditely. Pinpoint tests j and rb are inconclusive. This truck had a new dpf 12000km ago for cracked/ black smoking. All pids look ok, dpf pressure is .4 to .5 lbs at idle, around 6 lbs floorboarded. Maf sensor "looks" ok, hard to see the hot wires in these though. Im not convinced a maf is going to solve it, but well see. -
Normally i wouln't care, but i had a scattered 6.0l on it, and they kindof hinted that i should hurry up and put it back in the crate so he could use it. I pointed to my name writen on it and said i dont think so.

I have a problem with replacing parts on a stock order when they keep only one. Fukin stupid by most peoples logic.

Quote: FWIW, who doesn't think it strange that you now need to clear codes after a bulb replacement? Sounds like a dodge... uhh ohh. I think it should be designed into the gem or sjb as well. As for an option, why not be able to turn it on with the ids for a small(realistic) fee. -
Run the torch up its ass long enough it'll leak!!

6.4L Rear Cover Installation
cbriggs replied to Keith Browning's topic in 6.4L Power Stroke® Diesel Engines
And your dealer wont help you out/ cover your time? Thats BS. -
Yep, cab off makes it easier to pull engine out. A good engine stand is a must. I did a couple hanging from the engine crane, scared for my life. Dealer wouldnt buy an engine stand, so i finally bought my own. They looked at me strange when i wouldnt let another guy use it for a 5.4 engine job.

Oh yeah, i was talking to Rick Christie at a course in calgary last week, about the "factory" remote start issues. He said crown automotive (same guys that do the police cars) is doing the installs. He personaly dealt with it, talked to the ceo or whatever from there, they back traced to what shifts they were being done on and people did get fired over the whole shit show. Still brutal, that many made it out. What about the ones we wont see unitl 60k plus? -

cbriggs replied to Adam_Dodson's topic in Body, Chassis and Electrical
They're saying it can control the heat/ ac and shit it sounds like they are finally allowing the module network to start and control the vehicle remotely. We all know they are capable. See how they now are claiming that idling your vehicle for 5 or ten minutes before driving will reduce emissions by warming catalytics. What a backflip from everthing weve been taught! -
Just a long shot here but i wonder if its possible for water to leak internally in the water cooled egr valves? If it still has a water cooled one?
