  1. Negative on the low pressure pump for my 6.7. Put it in and the truck would not start or build fuel pressure. Popped the line off at the secondary filter and it hissed like air escaped. Purged the line and suddenly I had good fuel pressure. Then I realized the secondary filter, even though it was a new WIX, was plugged. I'll have to get a pic of the cut open filter. It's clean but sucked in at the middle The first time I saw a restricted secondary filter I figured it out right away, the second time I got burned completely. Perhaps I need to get my head out of my ass?
  2. Got a 15 F-250 here with a P008A and a constant whine from the low pressure fuel pump. Filters are wix but look fairly new. Pulled the tank, checked the sending unit and bowl, found nothing. No leaks anywhere and nowhere I can see it sucking air. I guess I'm gonna have to try a low pressure pump
  3. If you read the API article they make it sound like CK-4 is the greatest oil ever. Wonder what the hell is going on?
  4. 6. I'd just like a service manager that truely understands what we go through instead of one that uses up a roll of adding machine paper in 3 days. We have 4 techs, there isn't that much going on with numbers. Actually I'd fuckin settle for one that didn't type with 2 fingers!
  5. I was and still am shocked at how over complicated and difficult they are to work on. I haven't honestly worked on any other ecoboosts though so I have nothing to compare it to
  6. There's more than a few I've put out there just like that
  7. I can't understand what is going on in that first pic. Is the body on some kind of scissor jack?
  8. The part of my brain that's supposed to remember to disconnect the suppression strap on a 6.0 right head before cab removal is missing.
  9. Is that the one that is getting a left head? I have no idea what happened to the one I put the head on, haven't heard or seen anything of it since the day it left
  10. Yes the 6.0 VR gaskets have the same sealant color as the oem 6.4 but the gaskets themselves are slightly different. The pushrod holes are different and the 6.4 gasket doesn't have a notch cut for the standpipe
  11. Slightly off topic I had one with a cracked pickup tube that gave me a real run for my money. It would idle down real low, stall, reluctantly restart and run fine for a little while.
  12. The 6.0 saga starts tomorrow. One that needs headgaskets is an Excursion firetruck. The cab won't be coming off that one. The other 2 are regular F-series.
  13. I have also seen several gerotor sets that have foreign object damage unrelated to lifter failure. It's almost impossible to figure out what went through them sometimes. I've only seen 2 broken gear sets and both were in manuals. I think the abrupt engine speed change or perhaps excessive RPM is what can crack them.
  14. 6.4s can crack blocks when high tensile strength studs are used. Not the regular ARPs but rather the ones made of tool steel like H11. I would be okay using ARPs and factory gaskets. Anything else belongs in a performance shop.
  15. Well I am about 90 hours behind because of the shit show that's been going on here lately. They actually cleared out my schedule for the rest of the year and decided not to bring anything else in. There are 6 fucking 6.0s here 3 of which need the trifecta.
  16. I get a lot of low def complaints when the customer tries to add a gallon and expects the message to clear. You wouldn't believe how many people make an appointment and never show up because once they finally listen to me and fill it up the message goes away in a few key cycles. I have only changed one heater/sending unit for an actual sending unit concern.
  17. I bench air checked a pump before and it only had a small leak out of the IPR dump port. The inlet had no leak.
  18. I got 3 F-series 6.0 trucks here that need coolers. One eseries bus that needs injectors and 2 vehicles that need exhaust manifolds. Ones a 4.6L 3 valve police explorer and the other a 5.4L 3 valve F-250 I'm fucking drowning right now. I haven't been able to stay on one job longer than a few hours at a time for weeks.
  19. I gave up. Our FIRFT is in the toilet and I missed all of October's questions because of the PTS outage. I wasn't in contention anyways, for some reason I thought I could rush the questions and come out on top. Wrong
  20. Also worth mentioning is the lower oil pan is different to mate up with the upper. The front engine cover from the 05 F-series will not work with any year e-series. The outlet for the lower rad hose is clocked differently. The 05+ F-series has an outlet at 3 o'clock. All e-series have an outlet angled at 4 o'clock. The high pressure pump differences may not be significant. I know if I had an 04 engine I would rather have the pump from an 05+. If you are kicking around the idea of putting the 04 pump in the 05 engine remember that the branch tube would need swapped also. I personally wouldn't go that route
  21. Doing another coast clutch cylinder in an E-450 bus. Also sitting in here are coolers on a 6.0 f-series and a rad + horizontal cooler on a 6.4. Outside is a locked up a/c compressor on a 6.7 boom truck
  22. I am also using a Lenovo Thinkpad T400. It has given me way less problems than the old tough book we had.
