  1. Got a little windy here last night. 3 cargo containers used as a billboard tipped over. The white tank trailer in front of them is all that's holding them up.
  2. You don't need a high end laptop to run IDS. My diesel counterpart has a little netbook he paid about $300 for and it runs IDS just fine.
  3. Just finished a 6.7L that was stuck in Engine Idle Only, took me 2 tries to get the procedure correct. Still getting 14e03's in. Turbo oil feed tube leak is currently in my bay. Waiting on approval for retail 6.4L bed plates and a 6L drop in. Edit: My warranty oil feed tube just turned into a retail turbo, dirt ingestion and the impeller is loose, touches the housing and is pushing oil everywhere, which is most of my oil leak now that I have it apart.
  4. Fred, isn't there someone you can report this too? Especially if they are "serving the public" and don't pass a safety. Here in Alberta we can have this type of crap pulled off the road with a phone call.
  5. Second 6.7L primary water pump in 2 days. Waiting on a guy to come in with broken exhaust manifold bolts on both sides. 6.4L.
  6. I did one but the procedure eludes me. I think Matt is correct. Reset is to toggle and setup is to confirm the choice. That one took me three tries before I was able to figure it out.
  7. Front pump on a 2011 F350 Torqueshift 6.
  8. It's open to all apparently. m.proservicetech.com . Works nice, no bar code scan though. Using Chrome mobile for it. It even remembers previous VINs. Plus it loads VIN info faster than my laptop.
  9. Flushing it would make it worse I would think. Although, it could be a good lesson for the guy, if you think he won't come un-glued when it happens. "Oops, did I do that, damn, never saw that coming."
  10. There has always been a sore spot concerning VC-9 flushes and oil coolers. Most oil cooler failures make it impossible to flush the system before replacing the cooler, so when the chemical starts to break down the build up in the system it will inevitably end up in the oil cooler. If the cooler is new or not being replaced you have just accelerated the failure of that cooler. Unfortunately there is not much we can do about that. Most customers will understand this and replace the cooler anyways. Your customer learned the hard way. Nothing you can do and it's not your fault if he declined the replacement of the cooler. FWIW we also have a look at the HPOP STC fitting while we are into big jobs too.
  11. It goes higher up than the techs in that case. If warranty management is putting them through then no one learns.
  12. I have seen a few cab and chassis pickups with a clear hose for DEF. Haven,t seen any associated issues with it.
  13. That's another story for another thread.
  14. 2005 F450 highway maintenance, gravel, sweeper truck with fuel in coolant. #8 misfire, going loosen the fuel lines at the filter housing to see if it's the left head. The truck is from out of province and these guys want to get home. Edit, pulled cac tube and air inlet, both full of oil. Checked crankcase pressure, high enough to not be worth a new head.
  15. Just realized there are 2 things missing from that list. The 6L612 turbo pipe gasket and the turbo pedestal gasket.
  16. You can get the cage nuts. Part number 2L1Z-78101C58-AA. Remove the radiator to get at it.
  17. 2008 F350 6.4L, another retail oil cooler.
  18. First thing I do when a 6L comes in with a lack of power issue is push on that tube while it's running, guaranteed to find a leak if it's there.
  19. I too can't find anything, was sure it was posted. I seem to recall an issue around the FICM area.
  20. Congrats. Got to go to the Ford Canada Summit conference a couple of years back. They sure do put on a nice event. Have fun.
  21. Not even listed. Supposed to be P0069.
